There's something to be said for dating someone whose strengths were different that your own.

There's something to be said that age was just a number; especially when they were both in middle school.

There's something to be said for not getting involved with people who work under you.

And Vallejo was sure there was something against getting involved with a girl who maybe had a thing with her patrol partner.

And yet here he was; walking Tehama home after a late dinner. The moon was out and the streetlights were beaming down on the cracked sidewalk.

Inside Vallejo's head thoughts raced. Should he say something? Should he comment about the weather?

He took a deep breath, "good thing there's a clear sky tonight, huh?"

Tehama side-eyed him. "Hmm, sure I guess." She turned towards him, "is that really what you wanted to say to me? I mean we just went on our like… sixth date." She sighed, "I thought this was going somewhere – Vallejo."

"What? These were all dates."

She sighed, "what else would they be, Vallejo?"

He dug his hands into his pockets. "I thought that you had a thing with Anza –"

"No. Whatever you think - just, no."

"Oh."

"Just come here -"

Tehama grabbed Vallejo by the collar and pushed their lips together.

Their lips moved together. And Vallejo calmed him down.
