Chapter 1: Coincidences and masterpieces.

Miles Edgeworth looked at the painting in front of him. It was a modern kind of abstract art piece with a lot of black lines and red smears here and there. He wasn't quite sure if he liked it or not. He wasn't even sure if he liked being here at all. He was invited by his old 'friend' Larry Butz, who still pursued a career in painting, Larry held his first art exhibition in this gallery and invited Miles to his opening. He had to admit that he was happy for Larry, who finally seemed to made it in life.

'Are you looking to buy this incredible masterpiece?' the voice was more than familiar to Edgeworth. He turned to his left, only to see Kay Faraday. 'Mister Edgeworth? Oh my! It's been four years since I last saw you! And you still look the same.' Kay's professional attire quickly changed into her old, cheerful self. She looked different now, more grown up. Her hair flowed in long dark waves over her shoulder and she was wearing a black mini dress with a name tag on it that said 'Kay Faraday- Employee'.

'But look at you, all grown up. You look beautiful. Edgeworth said, amazed would be an understatement.

'Thank you. Mr. Edgeworth, can I get you something to drink? A glass of champagne or wine, perhaps?' Edgeworth shook his head, he didn't mean to stay here for much longer. But he wanted to see more of Kay. He was intrigued. She seemed to change so much and he hated to admit that, but above else he missed her.

'No, thank you Kay. But I would love to invite you for dinner, to catch up with you.'

She smiled and her eyes lit up. 'That would be great. What about tomorrow? If you can find the time. I recall you were quite a workaholic.'

Edgeworth nodded. 'I am what you call a workaholic. But I always make time for important things. Tommorow is fine with me.'

They exchanged phone numbers and Kay gave him her address. They agreed to dinner at 9pm.

Before Edgeworth left the gallery Kay gave him a hug and he congratulated Larry.

the nex day.

Kay Faraday looked at herself in the mirror. This was getting frustrating. She had been trying on various dresses for the past hour, but none of them seemed right. She didn't know, but she wanted to look her best so desperately. She was perfectly okay with her hair and make up. Soft waves, a decent make up, with red lipstick. Her bedroom looked like an explosion happened. Dresses all over the floor and furniture. She only had one dress left. A dark blue number with spaghetti straps. Kay never wore that dress and as she took it out of her closet, she noticed that it still had it's price tag on.

She ripped it off in one fast motion and tried it one. It fit her just fine. It hugged her curves, and it complimented her skin tone.

She was ready.
