Chapter 15

"So you held back against us." Aura was sweatdropping with a strained smile at the accusing tone and looked at Jack's face after she had come and told them what had happened. "Out of all that, that's what sets you off?" She dared to ask.

"Don't change the subject." He scowled, making her squeak.

"Aura is that the case 2 years ago?" Yusei questioned.

"Not on purpose!" Aura defended herself. "It's not like I notice it's a reflex!"

"She's actually right." Toru told them.

"Well I don't care!" Jack retorted. "We're having a rematch!"

"Wait what?!" Aura gaped.

"Isn't that a bit much?" Aki questioned with a sweatdropped.

"Not when Jack's pride takes a hit." Crow muttered, as they sweatdropped and watched Aura slowly backing up.

"Now Jack let's not do something we might regret." She began.

"Says the defensive Duelist. Accept the challenge or I'll make you accept." Jack scowled.

"Like I said I didn't mean to, it was a reflex!" Aura groaned.

"Reflex my foot! We're dueling!" Jack snapped.

"Not when you're mad we're not!" Aura shrieked, before quickly running out the door.

"Get back here!" Jack yelled, chasing after Aura.

"Hey guys!" Crow called out, before chasing after them. "I want a rematch too!"

Yusei sighed, shaking his head. "Here we go again." He replied.

"Wait a sec Crow can't talk when he thought sis was a kidnapper!" Sect yelled, running off.

"We should go after them." Aki sighed, walking to the door.

"... Best we do." Misaki agreed, following her.

"I wanna come too. I want to duel Aura again." Rua grinned.

"Rua." Ruka sighed, as she followed her twin.

"Guess we'll stay put to watch over things." Toru grinned at Yusei.

"It would seem so." Yusei agreed with a chuckle.

"Although I highly doubt Jack can catch Aura." Toru hummed, taking a seat.

"I don't know about that, Jack is pretty fast." Yusei remarked.

Toru gave a light smile. "Trust me he won't. She makes it a point to not get caught." He replied.

Yusei looked at Toru for a moment thinking, to take a chance. "Because of the Demon?" He asked.

Toru's reaction was immediate, staring at Yusei shocked, his face pale. "Excuse me?" He questioned.

"The Teal Eyed Demon I mean I had heard about it from a friend of mine." Yusei then frowned worriedly. "The situation was that bad back then, wasn't it."

Toru looked at Yusei for a moment, silent until he heavily sighed. "It's something the 2 of us don't like to talk about it or the demon." He replied. "Especially that demon."

"Did he do something to either of you?" Yusei questioned with a frown.

Toru was silent looking at Yusei before rubbing the back of his neck. "Just bad memories." He said solemnly. "Enough to even feel sorry for that Demon."

"So you don't hate the Demon?" Yusei questioned.

"Nah." Toru replied with a half smile. "Just sorry for the Demon."

Looking surprised Yusei was about to speak before the door was swung open to reveal a triumphant Jack carrying a defeated Aura by the collar of her jacket the others following behind them.

Aura sighed as she dried her hair from her shower exhausted. "After dueling Jack then everyone got in the bandwagon and had to duel everybody." She muttered. "I love those guys but seriously…"

She rubbed her neck slightly before she heard knocking at her door surprising her. "Oh now what." She muttered, going to the door to see Yusei through the peephole before opening. "Oh hey Yusei."

"Hey Aura-!" Yusei couldn't help but stare, shocked Aura was wearing a simple tank top with her jeans so Yusei could see her scars in shock. Aura raised an eyebrow before whistling.

"Yusei?" She spoke.

"Huh?" Yusei questioned.

"I take it, the scars surprised you." She remarked with a knowing smile.

"Yeah, they did." Yusei nodded.

"Figures." She chuckled, moving aside. "Come on in."

"Alright." Yusei spoke as he walked inside.

"So what brings you here?" She asked curiously, closing the door and continued to towel dry her hair.

"Well I was hoping you can tell me of… The Demon of your town." He replied.

She stilled her body stiffened at the mention of Demon lowering her towel to look at him. "You mean… The Teal Eyed Demon." She frowned.

"Yes."

She sighed heavily, a hand to her forehead. "Where the hell did you even hear about it?" She questioned, walking to sit on her couch.

"Saiga had been the one to tell me after I brought up where you came from." Yusei told her. "That was when he told me about it."

"Of course people heard about it…" She muttered. At this he frowned worried.

"Aura did the Demon?" He began.

"No I did not get these scars from the Teal Eyed Demon." She retorted.

"Yet you know about it." He stated.

She scowled, setting her towel down. "It's best you let it go Yusei. There's no point in wondering." She said. "The Demon is long gone as it should be."

"The way you talk as if you don't care for the Teal Eyed Demon." He remarked.

"The Teal Eyed Demon hurt and terrified too many people, the Demon was a menace and deserves to be gone that is all." She spat with venom. He was surprised by her tone upon the mention of the Teal Eyed Demon yet could see something else beneath it.

"I don't think you mean it." He said gently.

"What?" She glared.

He sat next to her with a calm expression. "I know you well enough to know how kind and understanding you are Aura." He stated.

"I'm not that nice Yusei." She scoffed.

"Then tell me this, you said you had seen what had happened during the Fortune Cup and the Dark Signers, then you know about Aki's previous identity, right?" He asked.

Aura frowned slightly yet nodded. "The Black Rose Witch." She replied.

"You knew of what she had done yet you didn't treat her any differently you saw and accepted her as a friend." He said with a smile. "Which shows that despite one's past you're willing to accept them for who they really are."

She gaped at him beyond speechless by his words feeling her right arm begin to shake. "S-So you're saying that despite everything even the Teal Eyed Demon deserves a chance? Deserves kindness?" She questioned with a stutter.

"I do and I think you feel the same." He nodded, placing a hand on her shoulder.

She felt herself shake clutching her right arm tightly as she looked down feeling as if she heard cracking. "Aura?" He spoke worried.

She winced a hand to her face as she sighed. "I'm fine, just tired." She frowned. "You should get home too, it's late after all."

He looked unsure and worried but nodded as she walked him out the door. "Sorry I can't tell you much about the Demon." She apologized lightly.

"It's alright." He assured, with a kind smile. "I'll see you later."

She only nodded as he left once she closed the door she dropped to her knees her entire body shaking as she hugged herself hoping to stop the choked emotions in her chest. "You're truly… Too kind Yusei…" She choked with a dead smile, her teal eyes darkened. "But it's foolish to give a killer kindness."

Aura was pulling the wrench for her D-Wheel before double checking and nodding. "Ok everything seems in order." She replied, turning to Misaki. "Ready to test run it?"

"...Yeah." Misaki nodded.

"Do you really think this will work?" Sect asked excitedly, sitting on the couch in Toru's garage.

"Hopefully if we really want to enter big tournaments a fast engine is a must." Toru grinned. "Hence why we've been working on this bad boy."

"If this can handle the program Misaki and I made then we'll be off to a good start." Aura smiled.

"Awesome!" Sect cheered.

"... Don't get too excited this is just a prototype." Misaki frowned.

"Ah come on Sis Misaki let me have this." Sect grinned.

Aura chuckled after her talk with Yusei yesterday this was what she had needed immensely. She then felt a hand on her shoulder looking up at Toru. "Are you feeling ok?" He asked.

"Yeah little tired but excited to test the engine out." Aura smiled. "After the week I had I needed this."

"Heh glad to hear it." Toru smiled, before looking nervous. "Listen, I'm thinking of us entering the World Riding Grand Prix."

"The WRGP? Leave it to you to want us to enter a huge tournament." Aura chuckled, motioning to Misaki and Sect who were still talking. "Told them yet?"

"No not yet." Toru admitted. "See I wanted to talk to you about the Team Name before I do."

"The Team Name?" Aura questioned, confused. "Any reason why?"

"Yeah see the thing is"-

"Th-There you all are!" They all looked up surprised to see Klaus running inside the garage panting heavily to their shock. "Grandpa, what's wrong?" Aura asked, shocked going to Klaus worried.

"Re-read this!" Klaus panted, handing Aura a letter.

Aura took the letter surprised looking at it. "A letter from Nico?" Aura said surprised.

"Nico?" Sect questioned.

"She's a friend back in our hometown." Toru explained, looking worried. "What does it say, Aura?"

"Only one word." Aura paled. "Help."

"Something must've happened at Crash Town." Klaus frowned.

"We have to go help right away!" Toru frowned.

"...We can't. Our D-Wheels…" Misaki began.

"Oh crud right the engines…!" Toru hissed.

"I'll go." Aura frowned, getting on her D-Wheel.

"Aura!" Toru and Klaus gasped.

"My D-Wheel is operational at the moment so I can get to Crash Town. You guys catch up." Aura said.

"Wait Aura!" Klaus called. But Aura sped off out the garage on her D-Wheel with a screech before speeding down the road.

Nico, West please be alright…! She thought worried.
