The women sat, curled up the comfy chair eyes down cased to the phone in her hands as the fire roared in the heath. The room was cosy, had everything you need to survived and to keep you entertained. In the corner sat a computer its screen dead, followed by many seats covered in blankets and pillows (including the one she was sat on), with doors leading into other sections of the house. The little cottage like house would have been popular, cute even if it wasn't for the strange location. The women lifted her head, brown hair shifting over her shoulder as she senses life slowing making it towards her little house.

A small smile made its way onto her mouth as she uncurled herself like a cat and stepping towards the doorway. Opening the wooden door let a gush of frozen wind rush inside the warm room, taking a step onto the rocky outcrop the wooden door closed shut behind her, blocking the cold chill from blowing out the roaring fire.

The man looked down towards his comrade, one was beside him looking equally as cold. Equally as tried and battered by the elements and the environment the mountain had thrown at them. but the monstrous mountain had yet to be conquered... The end was near he could fell it. He glanced few the foggy haze that had settled on the dwindling group - other comrade was a few 50m below them, slowly struggling up the rocky, icily mountain side.

He glanced up, spotting a wide snowy ledge. They had started out of 10 people. 10 to conquer the throat of the world. The tallest mountain in the world, taller than the tree of world and also unclimbable. No one had been able to each the stop of the throat, until their group. But 10 had dropped to 3, most having stopped and headed back down under half way up. He sighed, glanced towards his partner who was breathing harder. Glancing back at the ledge he nodded, if it was big enough, they could rest there, regained their strength better that clinging on the side of the mountain for dear life.

With a grunt he slowly began to climb, his breath growing harder as he felt his chest constrict the higher, he when, with one gloved hand on the snowy ledge he pulled himself up, eyes widening in shock.

Was he dead? Was the lack of oxygen getting to his head at the sight before him?

His eyes drifted upwards, black boots, followed by leggings and a red hoddie... the kind you wore in the streets not on a mountain edge, confused eyes drifted to the scene behind the strange illusion. A little cottage built into the side of the mountain. "hello there~" a voice purred snapping him out of his surprised.

"wh-how? What?" the man muttered in confusion.

The women smiled, "well this is a surprised~" she purred blue eyes glowing, "not many people make it up this far. You look like a dead man walking"

The man partner popped up beside him a shocked look confusion mirroring his face as he took in the sight.

"how many are you? "

"t-three?" the man spluttered.

The women cocked her head like she was listening to something in the eerily quiet fog, "hmm, you better come in or they will eat you"

"e-eat u-us?" he shivered.

"they always love the taste of human flesh" she sniggered, and pair felt the fog descend on them, they could feel the movement in the shadows, catching the sight of wings creatures. The brunette leant down gripping the pair by their bag straps pulling them completely onto the snowy outcrop. "now come of in before you get eaten, they won't come near you if I'm here"

She pulled them towards the doorway, opening the door, "be careful its warm in there~" she purred.

"Wait where are you going?"

"to pick up your friend of course~" she purred stepping off the ledge and disappearing into the fog.

Haired whipped at the women's head as she flew into the foggy abyss, she flatted out body pointing downwards, twisting every now and then to avoid a jagged rock. Looks likes she got there just in time.

The two men looked in astonishment at the room before then. They hadn't taken any changes waiting outside with those strange foggy creatures lurking about, so the pair had swiftly taken refuge in the shelter of the little cottage in the side of the mountain. How far were they from the top?

The room was cosy, the fire roared in this place making the pair instantly strip to their bottom most layer, the dirty clothes and large bags dumped by the entrance as they wandered about taking in the sofa's pillows and cushions as well as a bit of artwork painted on the walls.

What sort of person live all the way out here?

She couldn't be a hermit... she was too up to date with technology, guessing with the high-tech computer in the corner, how did she even get a signal up here? Plus, she could actually speak fluently unlike some hermits they had met. Moreover, she wasn't crazy... but then again looks could be deceasing.

Suddenly the door banged open, the Burnette walked in holding a still figure in her arms. The men's blood went cold accepting the worse.

she dropped the bag to the floor like it had weighted nothing before rushing to one of the other doors, leading out of the main room. "he's not dead"

After a making sure the fella wasn't going to dead of hypometria, frost bite and general hypoxia, she grinned at the strange people who thought to climb her lovely hill – what a story that would tell before curling up back onto the sofa.

"thank you Erm.."

"Mari, my names Mari and its okay I was bored anyway" the women, Mari smile grew even larger.

"Thank you again Mari. If you don't mine me asking why are you up here?" the leader spoken taking a seat one of the other seats in the room.

"well I own this whole mountain" the pair gave her a look, to which she chuckled at, "but that's not what you're asking is it?" she looked up towards the ceiling, "hmm well I completed a lifelong goal... at first it was like a little holiday. A break, but now..."

"you don't know what to do?" the leader commented in understanding, "I was like that once. Maybe not the same but I get ya, you just gonna make yourself a new aim. I got into the outdoors, in the extreme sports! Raef here, is an adrenaline junkie he loves being in dangerous situations as it makes him feel what it is to be alive. And Davie" he pointed to the room, "Davie gets the feeling of being free"

"Extreme sports?" Mari questioned her head tilted in thought. "it does seem like only the extreme would even think about tempting to climbing this mountain, I thought the locals scared most off"

"we didn't think some of the stories were true..."

The leader nodded towards the computer. "have a look, see if you can find a new aim, a goal to kept you busy"

And that's what she did, it wasn't a big of a thing as she thought. In fact, she had done many of the things before but maybe it didn't have to be as dangerous as deadly. Just something to entertain herself for a little while, challange by not using as much nen for example...

She could do anything and everything.

And having that rush...

Solo climbs like the El Capitan climb up its reddish tall rock, jump out of planes, diving straight into the competitive gaming realm. It didn't matter what she did as long as she enjoyed it and give her something to do. She was already a monster, might as well become a legend as well...

As this life was all for her entertainment.

She may even meet up with her lovers, and take a trip to greed island and have a proper child of her own...

Maybe.

Davie was soon fit enough to travel and after being caught up with what had happened and what would happen if they continued (being eaten alive) the group decided it would be best to leave the mountain behind.

And leave the mountain unconquered as well as warning others that would surely come around them.

The group discovered that mari.. Didn't chose an orthodox method to get back down the mountains, she kicked them off the edge. The leader, was condensing his life's choices. Raef was loving it despite the doom that was quickly coming towards him. and Davie.. Well after his indicial shock was enjoying the wind on his face with a new resolution and outlook on life.

Somehow the group of three survived the fall, onlookers saying it was an angel that saved them - others a giggling fae or even the devil themselves. But it was still up to debate on how the survivors of the throat wasn't eaten by the mountains.

But the three explorers would never forget the hunter at the top of the world, and kept their ears open for the rumours of the extreme adrenaline hunter who appeared became a legend.

But those stories are for another time.

And so this story comes to an end... this story, mari in general has helped me though alot, i been writing, drawing and imagaing her in soo many different situations over the years, i am tearing up at the though of posting this at the last office chapter of her story. i been putting it off for soo long.

Due to the great creator of hunter x hunter yoshihiro togashi, not completeing the next arch of the manga (currently) im not sure how mari would affect the story. so it shall be ending here. however if you guys would like i was thinking of some random oneshots or couple of chapters that may not be part of the offcial story but stuff you could see her doing (i had an idea of a game and some genderbending... soooo) or even throwing her into a different world. give us a shout and let me know what you guys thinks, or any ideas you would like!

Thank you all for reading this story! i glad you've enjoy it and loved it to the very end. The comments have been lovely and encourageing thoughtout the years! I couldn't have done it without you!

love you all!

happy hunting xx
