Few weeks after that embarrassing CI, Mai was called in the court. She jumped in enjoy when it was finally approved. Amy is now her daughter! She grinning ear to ear while grasping the folder on her chest.
"Mai-san."
Mai halted when she saw the man who went to their house outside the court room.
"Yes?"
"I know you are not really married to that Oliver guy."
Mai paled. "Wh-What do you want?"
The man chuckled. "Relax. I'm not here to sell you out. In fact, I made sure that the court will approve of you." He patted her shoulders. "I know you will be a great mother to her. She will be happy. Take care of her, Mai." The girl saw a hint of sadness in his eyes.
"Do you... know her?"
The man blinked away, shaking his head. "Nope, but I saw her picture, she's a bright girl, I looked into your background. It seems that, you are from that orphanage too. No wonder why, the child is attached to you."
"Ah..." The voices in her head was screaming to ask more questions about him. But she ignore chose to ignore it. She smiled at him. "Thank you, mister..."
"Amuro. Furuya Amuro."
"Thank you, Amuro-san."
Furuya Amuro watched Mai's retreating back. He opened his wallet and smiled at the laminated wallet sized picture of a woman smiling, carrying a newborn baby.
"Your daughter... is in good hands now, Amaya."
"Naruuuu!" Mai squealed when she entered SPR. She sprinted to his office, waving the papers in front of him. "I was approved by the court! Amy is now my daughter!"
Naru gaped in surprise. He stood up. "Really?" She nodded vigorously. She yelped when Naru lifted her off the floor a twirl her around. He showered her with kisses.
"I told you, no one will reject me." He smirked.
Mai playfully slapped him.
"Jerk."
"But you still love me though."
Mai blushed. "Of course, idiot!"
"Let's tell others of this good news, let's party."
She grinned before leaving his office. Mai was on the phone, calling each one of them to meet in the orphanage, when they asked why, Mai told them that it's a secret~ After the call, she knocked on Lin's door.
"Lin, come on. Let's go to the orphanage."
Seeing the small smile on his lips, she knew that he heard everything.
"I am happy for you, Mai-san."
"Heheheh~~ Thank you~~"
Naru smiled softly when he saw Mai being happy.
"Naru, let's stop by in a cake shop first. I will buy Amy's favorite cake."
"Sure."
He take his coat from the rack and took Mai's hand as the left the office. Lin was following behind them, locking the office.
In the orphanage, Mai announced her good news, and everyone congratulate her. Amy leaped on her arms and cried, Mai was calming Amy down when John patted her back.
"Mai-san, I know you will become a good mother to her."
Mai smiled at the young priest. "I will try my best, John."
"I know you will. Because your the kind of person who will never give up no matter what."
"Err... So her name is now Amy Davis? You're not going to change or add on her name?" Madoka wondered.
"We add a second name, she's now Amy Louise Davis." Mai announced.
"Whoa! That's hard to spell in Japanese." Bou-san amused.
Mai chuckled. "In Japan, she's Amy. Naru was the one who chose her English second name."
Everyone stared at Naru, who sipped his tea to hide his blush.
"Aww, baby brother, no need to be shy!" Gene riffled his hair. "It's a nice name."
Mai smiled at him.
"Thank you."
After their party, Mai packed Amy's things, since it has three rooms, they will live in Naru's house starting from now on.
"Are you still going to keep that?" Naru asked, pointing at the basket and baby blankets.
"Yes." Mai answered. "So that, if Amy will ask about her biological parents, there is something that I can give to her as their remembrance."
Naru hugged her. "It's no longer an 'I' Mai, it's 'us', 'we', 'our'. You are no longer alone, remember that."
Mai leaned on his chest. "I need to get used to it first."
Naru chuckled and kissed her nose. "I will help you, I will shower you with kisses everyday. I will cook for you, I will tell you I love you everytime I can get."
"Geez. Cheeesy~~"
He pushed her to the bed, hovering above her. Slowly leaning down, his lips was inches from hers when the door opened. By reflex, Mai pushed Naru away with a loud thud, he groaned from the pain.
"Mama?"
"Yes, baby?" Mai felt her face burning from embarrassment.
"Are we really together now? No more bad guys?"
Mai smiled. "Yes baby, no more bad guys."
"Carry me! Carry me!"
Mai carried the child, Amy saw Naru getting from the floor.
"Bleeeeh!" The child smirked at him, before burying her face on Mai's neck, giggling.
Naru was stunned.
