A series of one shots for my two favourites! Will probably update regularly as they are much easier to write than the long chapters hahahaha hope you enjoy! Lots of romance/ angst/ fluff for you all! As usual all rights go to Gaston Leroux etc and I don't own any of the characters!
"And that, Christine, is the story of my life." Erik finished off numbly, staring in to the wavering flames of the fire. The silence surrounding them was so thick that you could cut it with a knife, but that was only because she was sitting there in shock. So much heart ache for one person. It wasn't fair. Leaning forward, she grasped his hand and gave him a weak smile.
"Thank you for telling me."
"Well, hopefully it makes you understand why I am like I am today. A monster."
"Erik…" Christine sighed and sat there in thought, before taking his chin in between her fingers and got him to look at her straight in the eyes. "Your story may not have such a happy beginning, but that doesn't make you who you are. You are not a monster, Erik. Don't let the actions of other people make you believe that you're something you're not. It's your life, your story. You choose who you want to be. You choose."
Erik looked at her astonished, not even bothering to push back the tears that were brimming in his eyes. Slowly he leant forward, resting his forehead on her shoulder, allowing the tears to drip down on to her bosom.
"I made that choice long ago, Christine. I carried out the peoples wish. I understand if you want to leave."
"No, don't say that," she whispered fervently, running a hand through his silky hair, "I am never leaving you. You still have so much of your life to live, don't make the same mistake. We have a life now, together. One we can start afresh. I love you very much, Erik." He looked up at her at this statement in astonishment.
"What did you just say?"
"I love you." He smiled warmly then, caressing her cheek with his fingers.
"I love you to."
"Then let's start a new life, together. One where you can choose who you want to be."
"I want to be the man you deserve." He murmured, pushing a lock of her hair behind her ear.
"I don't deserve your goodness, your soul. You are a wonderful, lovely man. You just need to be yourself, that's all I ask." He sat in silence for a while before nodding slowly and somberly, giving her a soft smile all the while.
"Ok… I'll do it, for you Christine. Always for you."
