The pain from the gash in my back didn't ease during my nap so I woke with a groan, scrunching my eyes shut only a few seconds after.

It hurts worse than ever. Maybe I should have stayed in Innistrad.

After a few failed attempts I managed to struggle from my bed hunching over when I felt a spike of pain. I spent a full minute panting through the pain until it dulled enough for me to focus enough to planeswalk to the one person I knew would help me.

Standing at the front door to his home, Traisrel frowned as he peered out into the fog.

Ailis just vanished into thin air. How did she do that?

With a sigh he reached for the doorknob about to pull the door shut when with a brilliant blue light Ailis walked into his view, panting softly as the light vanished. Noting the way she had her cloak pulled tightly around her he stepped forward, thinking she was suffering from the cold air until he froze finally seeing her eyes scrunched shut as she breathed through her nose.

"Ailis, what happened?" He called out and I raised my head the pain forgotten as he hurried towards me wrapping an arm around my shoulders once he reached my side. I barely noticed him keeping me steady with his other hand pressed to my shoulder though as we stumbled towards the open doorway I couldn't help a grateful smile.

Traisrel helped me onto the armchair sitting in the front of his room, his footsteps audible as he hurried back to the front door. It clicked shut before he headed back to me helping me remove the cloak Jace had given me his eyes widening at the torn stitches that had been keeping my gash closed until recently.

"Ailis, I need to redo your stitches." Traisrel pointed out, clearing his throat when he noticed that my eyes were starting to close. When I opened my eyes to find him staring at me he gave me a weak smile kneeling at my side. "I'll get you something that will help the pain then I'll fix your stitches." He told me and I nodded, shivering as he disappeared into the adjacent room returning a few minutes later with a small brown satchel.

"The pain doesn't really need helping. It's doing fine on its own." I joked and he chuckled softly as he rummaged through the bag producing a small vial containing a pale yellow liquid. "What exactly is that?"

"Something that will make you forget all about the pain. Now I have to rub this into the gash so it might hurt." Traisrel warned and I sighed as he moved to my side. As carefully as he could he helped me slide down one shoulder of my dress exposing the wound that the werewolf's claws had given me. "Hmm...it's a good thing you came back from wherever you vanished to. You've ripped a few stitches loose."

"Can you fix it?" I asked, wincing when he lightly touched the torn stitches with his fingertips.

"Of course but I'll need to pull these free first. Just hold still until I finish rubbing this healing balm into your skin alright?" Traisrel warned as he opened the vial, dipping the fingers of his right hand into it. I tensed when I felt his fingers grasp the loose stitches letting out a faint cry as he tugged them loose. Flinching he reached over and when I felt his hand covering mine I turned my head. "Just give my hand a squeeze if you need it." He told me, giving me a tiny smile.

"O...okay." I coughed, trying very hard not to break his hand when he started to coat the back of my gash with the balm. I whined deep in my throat giving his hand a squeeze when he touched a still partially sore spot. Within a few minutes Traisrel let out a breath, putting the stopper back on the vial once the gash had been coated.

"Still with me?" Traisrel asked and I lifted my head, gently releasing his hand when he frowned slightly. Seeing the weak smile I gave him he relaxed giving me a smile in response. "I just need to redo your stitches and then I'll bandage them again." He explained, straightening before he moved to the small table in front of the fireplace.

Returning with the bandages and a needle and thread he moved back to my side a smile forming when he noticed that I was looking back at him, humming to myself as he joined me. "You look a little better though it is hard to tell with your complexion." Traisrel commented and I let out a weak laugh, tensing when he sat behind me. "You won't feel a thing okay?"

"Hope so." I muttered and he chuckled, taking a deep breath before the needle pierced my back. I flinched and he paused waiting until I stopped shivering.

"I...can't feel anything." I told him a few minutes later and he nodded, concentrating on stitching the wound together. As he worked Traisrel began to hum to himself and I blinked, keeping as still as I could.

I hadn't even noticed I was drifting off until Traisrel cleared his throat, moving around so he was facing me with a slight frown on his face. "Ailis, I was getting worried." He sighed and I just grinned at him, confused when he produced a roll of gauze. "I still need to wrap your back now hold still...again." He added and I snorted, resting on my knees so he could kneel behind me.

"How does my back look?" I asked and he chuckled, turning his head enough to stare at my face. "That bad huh?"

"Give yourself time to heal, Ailis. But it does look better." Traisrel admitted before he resumed wrapping my back. He used two rolls of gauze before Traisrel straightened giving my back a nudge with his index finger. When I didn't react he smiled at me. "Can you feel any pain now?"

"Nothing. Whatever that balm was it worked wonders on me." I said and he gave me a tiny smile as he moved to his chair and I watched as he pulled his chair in front of mine. "Where did you get that?"

"I made it myself." Traisrel replied and I giggled at the faint pink of his cheeks as he coughed, trying not to meet my eyes when I shifted towards the edge of my chair. When he felt a light pat on his left knee he looked up in time to see me smiling and he couldn't help a smile of his own when I showed all of my teeth, pale white against the green of my skin. "It's not that big of a deal. I learned at a young age to make medicines. If you going to hunt monsters you need medical supplies." He added with a one-armed shrug.

"But it is impressive. I don't know anyone as good as you at healing." I insisted, moving to pat his knee again until Traisrel's left hand moved and I found myself patting his hand instead. For a few seconds there was silence in the room as I met his gaze, my back injury forgotten as he stared at me one eyebrow raised.

"Ailis, are you feeling alright?" Traisrel asked, curious as I continued to stare at him. Traisrel shifted closer to me raising his right hand and when he waved it slowly in front of my face I blinked at him. "You weren't answering me and I thought something was wrong." He explained, not making any attempt to remove his hand from mine I noticed.

He blinked at me as I moved forward, the cathar freezing in place when I found myself sitting fully in his lap. "Much better. I was getting kind of cold sitting there." I sighed only to tilt my head back when Traisrel didn't respond finding the cathar wide-eyed and motionless. "Traisrel, are you feeling alright?" I asked, immediately giggling when I remembered that my new friend had asked the exact same question of me.

Ailis is sitting on my lap and she doesn't seem to care. I mean she did say she was cold but why not wrap a blanket around herself? I could have supplied one if she had asked or I had thought of it. Though I must say I am enjoying being this close to Ailis and I am not entirely sure why.

A few seconds later my giggles petered off as Traisrel's arms wrapped around my shoulders and I tilted my head back to see him with a faint blush on his cheeks and a tiny smile of his lips. For the second time Traisrel froze when I leaned in kissing him though before I could break away he kissed me back, finding that it was the best idea he'd had since meeting me.
