Collision Course
Chapter 1
A Walking Dead/Harry Potter Crossover.
A/N: First of all, this is my first legitimate story. I've started others before, and have done one-shots that I'm really proud of, but this is the first time I've had a legit idea and I think I can go with it. There will be inconsistencies, because of the time era of Harry Potter and The Walking Dead games, but they shouldn't be too distracting. I don't think that I'm going to keep everything the same from seasons 1 and 2, so I'll see about that as I go. Other than that, enjoy! I'm going to enjoy seeing where my mind takes this.
"We did it, we bashed them! Wee Potter's the one – and Voldy's gone moldy, so now let's have fun!"
Peeves's words were a great way to bring in a new era. Despite the loss of a brother, friends, and family, the ones who remained were all in this new world together. After the recovery of all the bodies and the reconstruction of Hogwarts began, Harry, Ron, and Hermione decided that they were going to go away on a vacation.
"Where should we go? I've personally always wanted to go to Georgia, you know. The history of the American Civil War has always interested me," Hermione said.
"Of course you'd be interested in some old war when we just finished our own," Ron teased. "But I have to admit, it sounds pretty fun. Hermione can get her history, and we can swing over to the beach! It is near the coast, right?"
"Yes, Ronald. It is near the coast, so we could probably spend a few days by the sea," Hermione said, excited that they were almost agreed. "What do you think, Harry?"
"I really don't mind where we go, Mione, just as long as it's away from here. When do we want to leave?" Harry was concerned for Hermione, because of the failed recovery of her parents. She had went to Australia to find them immediately after the war ended, but found that her memory charm had held too well – They would never be Emma and Dan Granger again. They were stuck as the Wilkins' in Australia. It had taken a toll on Hermione, but she knew the risks. She was coping, but losing your parents is always difficult.
"As soon as possible. How about tomorrow? We already have all of the money we need to depart quickly," Hermione said.
"Works for me! We really need this," Harry said and Ron agreed. After losing Fred, Tonks and Remus especially, they were spread pretty thin. Teddy was living with his grandmother Andromeda, who had lost everything in the war besides Teddy. She refused to let Harry keep him, stating that "He is my only family left, Harry. Would you actually take him away from me?" Andromeda was fair, but Harry couldn't stand to take anything else from her. He loved Teddy, but he would be better off with his grandmother, as would she.
"That's settled, then. We'll leave tomorrow, apparating internationally into Atlanta's Ministry. I'll get our rooms booked, and we'll be set for a nice, long vacation!" Hermione was excited.
Apparating internationally was no small feat, but the trio had fared pretty well in the war because of their apparition skills. They had bounced around constantly all throughout Europe, going so far as the Russian border in order to avoid capture. This was a bit of a bigger jump, but nothing unmanageable.
"Are we ready, then?" Hermione asked. She had her luggage all stored into her single beaded bag again, the same one that had helped sustain them on their Horcrux Hunt. She had also performed Undetectable Extension Charms on Harry and Ron's backpacks, keeping their luggage light and easily accessible.
"I guess so, let's get our vacation going!" Ron said. He'd only ever been away one time in his life, when his parents had won that lottery and they'd went to Egypt to visit his oldest brother, Bill. Even with the lottery winnings, the trip wasn't luxurious because they had had 7 people to feed and keep healthy on that trip.
On that note, the three turned on their heels and appeared in Atlanta's Ministry.
"Hello! Welcome to Atlanta, Georgia, and we hope you have a pleasant stay in our historical Fulton County!"
They stepped off of the Apparition platform and headed towards the cab station – they would be relying on Muggle transportation from here on out.
"To Macon, please," Harry told the cab driver, handing him the necessary Muggle money. "We'll be staying at the Travelier Motel on the outskirts of town."
"No problem, son," said the driver. He was an older fellow, with graying hair and a trimmed beard. He took the money, set his GPS, and they set off.
They had chosen the motel because it was under the radar – no one would expect the Boy-Who-Lived and his Golden Trio to stay there. There had been so much pressure from the press already, they really just wanted a quiet vacation. Because of the time difference, it was already nearing nighttime. They decided to turn in and start their sightseeing tomorrow.
They were woken in the middle of the night by a pounding on the door. They had gotten a double room, with Ron and Harry sharing a bed and Hermione having her own. Ron went to the door to see who it was, and looked out the peephole. What he saw astonished him.
There was a dead man beating on his door.
At least, he sure looked dead. He had missing chunks of skin and you could even see some bone through the gaps of skin. One of his eyes was missing, but even with the grotesque face, he could tell that it was the guy who had checked them in hours previously.
"THERE IS A DEAD GUY BEATING ON OUR DOOR!" Ron screamed, backing away hurriedly.
"Ron, that's impossible. Why would there be Inferi around here, of all places? Get your head straight!" Harry tried to calm him down.
"Look for yourself, then!" Ron grabbed his wand and aimed it at the door right before it came off the hinges and the man fell through.
"DIFFINDO!" Hermione shouted, slicing the thing's head clean off. "What is going on?"
The trio took a look out the door, and saw dead people walking in the parking lot.
