Chapter 28

1 Week Later

"Tonight we continue our coverage of last week's world-shaking events."

"The world still reeling from this monumental crisis."

"She called herself Brainiac."

"….with a slew of donations coming in the small seaside town is returning to normal."

"Did the government hold these people against their will?"

"The remnants of this robot army have been gathered and are being studied by both Lexcorp and STAR Labs."

"Dr. Emil Hamilton graciously accepts the offer to become one of the head scientists at STAR labs to start examining the alien tech."

"Suspicion surrounding Lexcorp over the role Project Crystal played in this invasion."

"Luckily Lexcorp scientists were able to shut them down before any serious damage could be done."

"The Daily Planet stock has skyrocketed with their coverage of the Metropolis attack."

"Lois Lane's firsthand account of the Beach City attack still shocks and grips all who read."

"Photos from James Bartholomew Olsen of the Daily Planet of the attack as still in reprint."

"Apparently he has a blog that's growing."

"Neither the location of Brainiac or her ship have been identified."

"And what of these Heroes?"

"Superman accepts the key to the city, sadly the Crystal gems were not in attendance."

"Praised for the heroism."

"How do we know they aren't connected to Brainiac?"

"Thousands of lives saved due to their intervention."

"Can they be trusted?"

"Superman continues his work around Metropolis, and across the country, more footage of The Crystal Gems is being downloaded online.

"Does the world need people like them?"

"Well their here, and world will never be the same again. Things are changing and we have to learn to adapt"

"Dad just pick a channel." Lois said standing behind her father who was sitting on the couch

"Just keeping my mind occupied." Sam said putting the remote down

"Hm." Lois said as she sat next to her father

There was an awkward silence between the two that lasted a minute

"S-so how are you?" Sam asked

"Good, good, been busy ya know. Everyone wants to know what happened in there, if there was anything else aside from what I put down on the page. But, I'm dealing with it fine. How's the Beach City situation?" Lois asked

"Fine, their getting a lot of donations from all those rich philanthropist types. And they have thankfully are being really patriotic with not telling the media about our….. Occupation of their town." Sam said with a groan

"People tend to get patriotic when you pay every single family involved a nice chunk of hush money." Lois said with grin

"Yeah, that to." Sam says with his own

"You paid each family and person at least $10,000, though a little friend of mine says you paid a certain Gregory Universe 1 million dollars." Lois said

"Yeah, the higher-ups wanted to ensure that he wouldn't talk." Sam says

"You know he's not the type of person to go out and sue." Lois says

"After what we did to his son and home, he has the right. I threw a little extra in there out of guilt." Sam says with a laugh

"They both already forgive you, you know." Lois says

"But I don't forgive myself." Sam says

The silence came back for another minute

"Lois…. I almost died back there. And I was going to die knowing that I never got the chance to say all the things I had in the back of my mind. Lois….. I-!" Sam said filled with shame

"Dad, it's okay. I understand, though I had to admit I had a bit of an awakening back there myself when you almost….. Ya know. So here's what I want to say to you." Lois said as Sam looked at her

"Dad….. You're an asshole, but you are a good man." Lois said with a smile

"Wow thanks." Sam said deadpanned

"For a while I thought I hated you, but when you were dying in my arms and flashed back to my younger years and realized that I don't. It wasn't a picture-perfect childhood, though who those nowadays. But, after mom died you did the best you could with what you knew, and you did a pretty good job. I mean you taught me how to judo flip a guy when I was 10, so I did it to a bully that got me in trouble, but remember Mike Nickel?" Lois asked

"That little asshole in High School who tried to rape you in High school." Sam said with a growl

"Yeah I judo flipped his ass through a table, not only that but I was able to smell the ruthies in the drink he gave me thanks to all those lectures you gave to me and sis about identify date rape drugs." Lois said

"They tried to sue, but you took the drugs he was holding as proof and showed it to the police as evidence." Sam said laughing

"Dad, I don't hate you, I said all of that you wanting a boy stuff in the moment I was just angry. But you do infuriate to no end you are boneheaded, stubborn, unreasonable, your way of thinking is extremely outdated, and you overreact at anything that has at least 1% chance of being a threat. But, you're also a good man who loves his country…. And his family." Lois said as she came in for a hug

"…. Thank you Lois." Sam said returning the hug

"Just try to lighten up a bit, not everything is some plot to destroy America." Lois said

"Be less cynical, funny coming from you." Sam says

"I learned to look on the brighter recently." Lois said smiling as Sam gave a half-hearted smile

"How's John by the way?" Lois asked

"Still in a Coma, that suit and that rock are the only thing keeping him alive. Luthor offered aid, but we sent him to STAR labs instead." Sam said

"Good to hear…. You know I can ask-." Lois said

"Lois I know of your friends 'abilities', and it appears that in order for it to work he needs some remnant of what was previously there in order to repair it. There is nothing left of John's heart, that Brainiac woman appears to have removed all the remains from his body. It won't work, and there still is a lot we don't know about the after effects of that pink beam." Sam says

"Really? You still don't trust them after-?" Lois said as she gestured to her chest

"I got two cat scans this week." Sam said

"Dad they saved the world, their heroes." Lois said

"Today they are but things change." Sam says

"Well I believe in them." Lois says

"And I'm going to do my job and prepare for the worst." Sam says

"We are never going to agree on this are we?" Lois said laughing

"Probably not." Sam said laughing

The two let out jovial laughs taking a moment to breath

"So….. Are you trying to date the alien?" Sam asked seriously

"And we're done, time to go dad." Lois said as she stood up

"Lois, I know this nice young man in the navy, he has an amazing personality, and he's human." Sam says

"Bye dad, I call you later. Say hi to sis when you see." Lois said deadpanned as she opened the door

In the doorway stood Clark Kent wearing his suit and his right arm put into a sling. The two grown adults yelped as soon as they saw each other.

"Clark?!" Lois said surprised

"Lois, Hi, I-um-you left these at the office. You need to fill them out for tomorrow." Clark said holding out a stack of papers in his right arm

"Oh thank you, I will get right on it." Lois said taking them as Sam Lane walked to the door to see Clark

"Oh, you must be Lois's father, Sam Lane." Clark said with a smile adjusting his glasses

"General Sam Lane, and you must be Clark Kent. Lois told me about you, how's the arm?" Sam asked looking at the sling

"A little hard to move but it's getting better, doc thinks I can take it off next week." Clark says looking at the sling

"That was a very dangerous thing you did there son, you were lucky to make it out." Sam said

"Yeah well, it felt like the right thing to do. Somebody needed to stand up, guess it was me, not that it meant much." Clark said scratching the back of his head

"Hm, that's the mindset of a good soldier son?" Sam said impressed

"Am I interrupting something?' Clark asked

"No dad was just leaving." Lois said

"Well it was a pleasure to meet you sir." Clark said extending his hand for Sam to shake

"Same." Sam said shaking Clark's hand

The two shook and Sam's face was impressed

"You got a strong grip, where are you from?" Sam asks

"Kansas sir." Clark says

"Oh really, so how long have you known Lois?" Sam asked intrigued

"Okay goodbye dad." Lois said as she began to push Sam out

"Do you play football?" Sam asked

"BYE DAD!" Lois said pushing him out and closing the door bringing Clark inside

"He seemed nice." Clark said

"He's a hand full." Lois said

"Most dads are." Clark said

Clark took a moment to look around Lois's apartment, it was surprisingly clean seeing how her desk is. Though there was a work table that was filled with papers and a laptop. Clark however noticed a bottle of wine in ice and two glasses.

"Are…. You expecting someone?" Clark asked

"Yeah a friend is coming over for an interview." Lois said as she fiddled with something in her pocket her back turned

"Oh really." Clark said with a small smile as he looked in the mirror for a moment

Clark looked at himself and then Lois. Clark straightened his posture and then removed his glasses. He took a deep breath and then spoke

"Lois." Clark said in a strong bold voice that knocked Lois out of her daze

But within that moment Clark thought again looking at himself in the mirror and then sighed. He regained his slouch and put his glasses back on his face.

"Hm Clark?" Lois said turning to face him

"Well I shouldn't keep ya waiting, see ya at work tomorrow." Clark said returning to his softer voice as he turned to the door

Before he could open it Lois stopped him

"Clark, my dad was right what you did back in Beach City was dangerous….. But also very brave. And…. I'm glad you're alright." Lois said embracing Clark in a hug and kissing his cheek

Clark's face turned red as he had an embarrassed look on his face trying to think of something to say. This made Lois giggle as she opened the door and pushed him outside.

"See ya tomorrow Smallville." Lois said as she shut the door

"S-S-see ya." Clark said regaining his composure with a smile

Clark still smiling walked towards the Elevators where Sam Lane was entering one

"Going down?" Sam asked

"I'll take the stairs, its good exercise." Clark hummed walking past him

"Were on the 20th floor." Sam said

"I know." Clark said entering the stairway

Once on the Stairs he began to climb up them. He then removed his arm from the sling and then the sling itself. Clark lifted his glasses once again and with a smile ran up the stairs.

Lois sat at her kitchen table looking at the piece of paper she kept in her pocket with a small smile. Suddenly a whoosh was heard and a huge smile grew on her face as she raced from the table leaving the paper.

"Would like to meet you for important business, I'll be there around 8 –S"

Lois went to her apartment balcony and smiled at what she saw

"Evening Ms. Lane." Superman said standing on the balcony

"Evening, good to talk to you one on one again. You've been doing a lot here in Metropolis and in Beach City." Lois said smiling

"Just doing what I can for the relief effort, though I think they're gonna be fine now." Superman says

"They are a hardy bunch those folks, besides they got their own heroes." Lois said

"They do. So Ms. Lane on why I called you-." Superman says

"Oh wait, I got some wine inside for us to drink." Lois said as she turned to enter her Apartment

"You got enough to share?" Garnet said making Lois yelp and Look up to see the Crystal gems on a railing looking down at the two

"WHOA, YOU'RE ALL HERE!" Lois said surprised

"If you want we leave." Pearl said

"I ain't leaving, this is getting good." Amethyst said with a grin

"So…. You brought them along. Kinda thought this was just gonna be us." Lois said as the gems dropped down next to her

"Sorry to disappoint, but he talked us into it." Garnet said

"Into what?" Lois asked

"Ms. Lane I think, it's time for the world to learn who we are and what we stand for." Superman says

"Wait, r-really?" Lois said surprised

"We are a lot more exposed than we are used to, every time we go out on mission any human that see's us takes pictures and videos now. Luckily they haven't figured out where we live." Pearl said

"Big Blue here, said it would be a good idea to ya know let the public know about us, a little bit at least." Amethyst said as she sat on a chair out looking the city

"So you're all here for an interview." Lois said with a smile

"You're the only reporter we trust to tell the public the straight truth, though there will be some questions we can't answer. We just feel like it'll be a good idea with our new found attention that some information on us can calm some fears." Garnet said

"And we hope that you'll keep Steven out of the story as you did before." Pearl said

"Of course, this is great. I guess I'll get some more glasses." Lois said walking inside

"I don't drink and fly." Superman said

"I do!" Amethyst said laughing

Lexcorp, Hours Later

Lex Luthor stood in his darkened office looking over his city and the starry night sky a glass of scotch in his hands. Mercy stood at the side filing her nails as he took a swig from the glass. Suddenly there was a phone ring and Mercy pulled out her phone examining it and putting it to her ear. Lex gave no reaction as she did.

"It's your Lawyer Lex, they said that STAR labs turned down the collaboration offer." Mercy says

"Tell him he's fired." Lex says without hesitation

"On it." Mercy says with a grin

"Also tell my contact in the government I need to set up a meeting." Lex says

"General Lane isn't returning your calls." Mercy says

"I meant my other contact." Lex says with a hint of annoyance

"Right." Mercy says as she gets to work

"… Mercy leave the room, there's some business I need to attend to." Lex says

"Whatever you want boss." Mercy says as she exits the room leaving Lex alone

Lex sat on his chair and downed his glass with one gulp. He took a breath and then pressed a button on his desk opening the sliding door that led out to the balcony.

"You can come in if you want." Lex says as he pours himself another glass the sounds of footsteps entering his office

Lex leaned on his chair glass in hand and saw Superman and the Crystal Gems standing in front of his desks, all of them having agitated expressions at him. Despite this Lex kept his cool and neutral appearance.

"You usually have to make an appointment before you can come in, but I'm sure I can make some time for the heroes of the city and maybe the world." Lex says

"You seriously had a second office in the same building you could go to." Amethyst says looking at the room

"I like to stay atop of my work. Can I help you, cause if not I have work to do." Lex says

"You knew Brainiac was coming, you talked to her. She gave you the plans for Metallo and your project Crystal." Superman says

"You played a dangerous game Luthor." Garnet says

"What happened with project Crystal was an alien terrorist attack, luckily my scientists were able to stop it." Luthor says

"Yeah, we don't buy it. I believe you knew Brainiac messed with the formula for your Project crystal, put something in there so she can control them when the time came. And I much as I hate saying this, you were smart enough to realize that and add in your own fail-safe. So when she did all you had to do was wait a few minutes for dramatic effect and press a button so you'd look like a hero." Pearl said

"Quite an interesting theory, shame you can't see if it's true. All of Project Crystal has been put on hold because of that little debacle, I'm guessing the government is going to put a hold on my expansion ideas until their sure the project is safe. So I took back all the crystals involved with the attack and brought them to a secure Lexcorp facility to be tested and make sure nothing like this happens again. This entire thing will set me back millions." Luthor said as he examined the glass

"I'm sure you'll find a way to make it back." Superman says with narrowed eyes and Luthor smirked

"Do you have any idea how many people you put in danger!?" Pearl said

"I didn't put anyone in Danger, Brainiac did." Luthor says

"You brought her here." Garnet said

"No… You brought her here!" Luthor said locking his cold green eyes with the heroes

"Brainiac as far as I'm aware was after your little mutant, humanity was just an add-on." Luthor says

"Don't you say a word about him or I swear-!" Amethyst growled

"Or you swear what? Huh? What are you going to do? Why are you here? Are you going to threaten me, make me bow before you might, kill me?" Luthor asked

"No, we're gonna take you to jail." Superman says

Lex looked at Superman confused and then started laughing hysterically

"Oh my lord, I thought this whole Boy Scout routine was an act, but you're serious aren't you." Lex said with a small laugh catching his breath

"We can't do it now, but we know what you did and the type of person you are. We are going to be watching you Luthor, and when you slip up were gonna show the world all the dirt and grime under that façade you wear. And there will be Justice." Superman says getting closer to Lex

Lex let out a small laugh before standing up

"Let me tell you something about Justice, Justice is something humans made and humans enforce. Not some lost and forgotten stones and a man who fell from the sky. Do you really think these people will accept you just because you saved a few cats from trees and stopped a big bad alien? You all may be enjoying the spotlight now, but in time they will turn on you because they know you aren't one of us. You not human, you don't understand what it is to be human, your no different from Brainiac sitting upon her ivory tower and looking down on us with you laughable pity. Looking at us as a bunch of primitives who need some faux gods to tell us what is right, what is wrong, and how to think. We don't need god we need men, REAL Super-men, and that's not any of you." Lex says

"And that would be you?" Garnet asks

"It only makes sense, a human leading a human, not an alien." Lex says

"Well Luthor, let me tell you a little something about me. I'm not looking to lead or take power or be some kind of God. I'm looking to guide humanity to what it could be, I may not be human but I know humanity. I believe humans are inherently good, they just learn to be bad. I may save people and fight the big bad alien from time to time, but my main is to inspire others to save themselves." Superman says

"You think you're above us?" Lex says

"No, I was just raised right." Superman says

"We've lived for a pretty long time, and let me tell ya we've seen you humans do some messed up stuff. But we've also seen ya do some pretty cool things as well." Amethyst said

"We know dictatorships and that is not what we aim to become. We know what's it's like to be trapped in a still society, one that never changes, and constantly crushes those within it. Earth Despite its many problems is not like that." Pearl says

"Our leader loved humanity because of its ability to change and learn, to see a mistake it's made and say never again. To move beyond hate and ignorance and accept love and understanding. Now there are still many humans who cling to those things afraid of change, but the fact that there are millions of others fighting against it and embrace the new means the world. We've seen first-hand what one person can do, what they can inspire and create, and I have to say I'd certainly put my money on Superman to be one." Garnet said

Lex laughed again

"If that's how you all think, you'd be better off going back to where ever you came from." Lex says

"Even if we could we wouldn't." Superman says

"Hehehe, alright I'm done, I want you all out. Go on and play hero, see how long it takes till your all back in that lab with me holding the knife." Lex says waving them off

The heroes said nothing and walked back towards the Balcony to leave

"You know it's funny you supposedly can see everything. Yet you can't see the true human soul." Lex says laughing

Superman stops at the door

"You're wrong Lex." Superman says

Superman turns and smirks at him

"I can see your soul." Superman smirks and leaves

Lex sat in his darkened office in total silence, then there was the sound of shattering glass. Blood and glass shards fell to the ground as Lex's hand shook. Then his intercom turned on.

"Mr. Luthor you have an incoming call." Mercy says

"Not-right-now." Luthor seethes

"I think you want to take this call Mr. Luthor." Mercy continues

"I SAID NOT RIGHT-!' Lex screams as he raises his fist to punch the intercom with his bloody hand

"It's your niece Lex." Mercy says stopping Lex

Lex breathes heavily but then slowed down allowing his breaths to steady. He then stood up and regained his composure.

"Thank you Mercy put her through." Lex says calmly

"Have a nice chat Lex." Mercy says

"Also Mercy bring up the doctor, tell him to bring disinfectant and gauze, and tell the janitor there's a mess by my desk." Luthor says looking at his bloody hand

"Of course." Mercy says as the intercom shut off

Lex sat on his chair and took another breath before lifting the phone with his good hand

"Hello, Lena." Lex says smiling his voice losing the Coldness from before

Fortress of Solitude, The Next Day

"You are sure she's secure, she's obviously capable of a lot." Pearl says

"Of course she is, aside from the obvious fortitude of this Fortress and container. The Bubble Kal-Ven made combined Steven's gem energy with Kal-El stored solar energy. This bubble will not pop easily." Lola says

Clark, Steven, and the gems stood in front of a bottle display where one of the Brainiac gems floated.

"No offense but we should ask if your guests are secure." Clark says

"We made an entirely new room in the temple just for her, we thought it'd be best to keep her away from the others." Garnet said

"And the other?" Lola asked

"Steven took care of the last one." Amethyst said

"Oh really?" Clark said surprised

"I have a special place to keep things." Steven said with a grin, before looking at the Display again

"How long do you think we should keep them in there? I think only one of them bad, the others seemed conflicted." Steven asked

"I saw it too, in time we'll help them. But for now it's best that they stay in stasis." Clark said reassuringly making Steven smile

Krypto ran up to Steven nuzzling his leg causing him to laugh, Steven followed Krypto out of the room and the others followed suit closing a massive door behind them.

"This place seems bigger than before." Amethyst said

"Well we had to make more room for all the stuff on Brainiac's ship." Lola said

"What did you do with the craft?" Pearl asked

"Right now were combing through the information on board, we theorize that this was only a fraction of the knowledge she had. We may be able to use the ship to find her base, where we believe she's keeping more trapped cities." Lola said

"You're hoping to save them, like you did Beach City and Kandor?" Garnet said

"Yes, though probably like Kandor their shrinking has become permanent. We are currently trying to figure out a way to get in contact with the Kandorians, so we can begin trying to figure out a way to get them to normal size. Right now they are probably unaware of the change in their situation." Lola said

"We're looking for anything on the ship that can help with that. But, honestly I can believe this is happening. All this time I thought I was alone, but now I'm literally holding my world in the palm of my hand. It's….. Amazing." Clark says smiling

"I bet they'll be so happy to see you." Steven says as they entered another room where dozens of copy Lola's were walking about carrying the Kryptonian artifacts and placing them on displays

"She brought her entire collection of Kryptonian artifacts with her to Earth. It feels so good to have all these, it's like having a little piece of Krypton." Lola says smiling

"Funny seeing how you basically are Krypton with that Codex in ya." Clark says with a smirk making Lola smile

As they walked Amethyst noticed the black spotlight that banished the Snare beast from before

"Hey Lola what's this thing?" Amethyst asked holding it up with one hand making Lola yelp

"THAT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS DON'T TOUCH THAT!" Lola yelled making one of her copies taking it from Amethyst

"What are you going to do with all those animals she kept in her ship?" Steven asked

"Check the next room." Clark said smiling pointing to a door

Steven smiled running with Krypto to the door and opening it, his eyes meeting a fantastic sight.

"Welcome to the Cosmic Zoo." Clark said as he showed off what looked like a massive nature reserve behind glass, the many creatures peacefully roaming among the multiple habitats

"Impressive." Garnet said

"You built a Zoo in your fortress?" Amethyst said laughing

"Yep Brainiac had extensive data on all the creatures she had on display, so we were able to make multiple habitats to fit their needs and we'll be able to feed them whatever they need to survive." Lola says

"You're just going to keep them here?" Pearl asked

"Not forever we're hoping to find data on where their homes are and potentially bring them back to wherever they came from. Until then we'll care for them." Clark said

Steven was looking through the glass looking at a familiar cyclops Starfish

"Ya hear that we're gonna bring you home, so you can just rest here until we do." Steven said reassuringly to the creature. It blinked at the smiling Steven

"You know if you keep adding on like this, the fortress will just become the North Pole." Garnet said as they entered the main hall again going to the computer to see something

"Is that a-?" Pearl asked looking down

"Lola…. What is this?" Clark asked

Before them was a warp pad

"It's a warp pad Kal-El. Seeing as how there are so many on Earth I thought it would be best to use what we have." Lola said

"You built a warp pad awesome!" Steven said

"Only gems can use warp pads." Garnet said

"Gems and me." Lola said smiling stepping on the pad gesturing the others to follow

They all stood on the pad and in a flash disappeared into the pillar of light

Steven's House, Beach City

Greg was sitting on the couch reading a Newspaper while Lion napped next to him

"My Night among the Stars" written by Lois Lane

Greg smiled at the Daily Planet paper as he looked around the house seeing the boxes strewn about. Then the Warp pad lit up showing Steven, the gems, Lola, and a surprised Clark.

"Wow you can go straight from the Fortress to our house, it'll make visiting so much easier." Steven says as he leaped off

"Not exactly, the stream to the fortress has been locked off with a special code. Only with the code will you be able to enter the fortress. I'll be sure to share it with you later." Lola says

"This certainly would make traveling easier." Clark says adjusting his glasses Krypto running towards Lion and nuzzling up to him getting a tired gruff out of the feline

"I'm going to add an addition to your suit that will allow you to use the Warp Pad as easily as me or the gems." Lola says

"This is all our stuff?" Clark says looking at the boxes

"Yep, they ended up taking all the stuff out of the house and doing god knows what with it. But at least everything is here, now we just gotta-." Greg says as a blur zooms across the house and within a second the boxes were empty and neatly placed in the side and all the stuff was where it should be.

"Put-it-back." Greg said looking around

"I remembered where all the stuff was last time I was here. Or I at least hope I do, it was a while ago." Clark said nervously

"Show-off." Amethyst said elbowing Clark's leg

"THANK YOU SO MUCH!" Steven said as he ran to his bed

"It does mean a lot, thank you." Pearl says making Clark smile

"I'm surprised that the government is just going to leave you alone." Clark says

"Yeah….. Surprised us to." Garnet says

And at that moment her mind went back to a week ago and a phone call she made, remembering the words of the person she talked to

"I can at least make sure that the Marines don't come kicking down your door or terrorizing your townsfolk. But they are going to keep an eye on you, I included. And I won't be able to do anything about your new found publicity, the world knows you're out there that ain't gonna change. Luckily they don't know about Steven, and General Lane seems to be on the same boat of not telling anyone about him either. So the deal still stands as long as he doesn't make any noise or put himself out there, he'll be protected, so make sure he doesn't. The situation has changed, I owe you three and Rose big time for what you've done for me, but I have my own allegiances and duties to uphold. And deep down despite all that, you knew I never trusted any of you. If there is even a chance that you are going to be a threat to this country or those I love, I will not hesitate to-BRING-YOU-DOWN! UNDERSTAND!"

"Hey I found this!" Steven says sitting on his bed holding what looks like a watch snapping Garnet out of her train of thought, the gems walked up and examined it

"We never got you a new watch." Pearl says looking at it

"I think Superman decided to give you a gift." Garnet smiles

"Yeah I did, Lola made it though. Press the button on the side." Clark says

Steven does so pressing it and getting a click, then on the face of the clock a red Superman logo began to flash.

"Cool it glows." Amethyst says unimpressed

"Not only that, but right now it's releasing a high pitch frequency only I can hear. I call it a Signal watch." Clark says walking up to Steven

"If you or any of your friends and family are in any kind of danger, with this watch I'll be there as quick as I can." Clark says

"Sure you can take time out of your busy schedule." Garnet says

"There's always time for friends. And maybe it could go a little faster with some help, we did some cool work together." Clark says

"We…. Aren't exactly ready to put ourselves out there like you do. We'll stick with what we're doing now." Pearl says

"Then maybe I can help out with what you do?" Clark asks

"Catching Corrupted Gems?" Pearl asks

"Yeah, I'm probably gonna run into a few. Why not help out?" Clark asks

"I'm not sure if it'll need a Superman's help." Garnet says smiling

"Yeah, this whole thing was Crazy. But I think it's gonna be a while before we need to do something like that again." Amethyst said

Suddenly an explosion shakes the house followed by panicked screams

"Any chance I can help now?" Clark asks

"If you want." Garnet says

"Give me a minute." Clark says going down the stairs the gems following

At the moment Steven was looking the watch smiling, his mind wandering to all the awesome adventures the gems will have with Superman in the future. Steven looks to the window near his bed opening it and letting the fresh air come in. He took it all in with a deep breath. He then looked up to the sky, a small bird flew by, a plane soared overhead, and finally red blur took off towards the direction of the explosion. Steven took another breath the air feeling slightly warm this time and smiled as he watched the gems chase after the blur. Steven looked up to the sky again and smiled raising her hand and letting it move among the clouds, his imagination running wild.

"Up, Up, and Away." Steven says smiling imagining himself soaring through the sky

A Lola checked the interior of Brainiac's ship going over a checklist looking at a massive screen on the ship. Feeling everything checked out she left the room turning off the lights as she did. The room remained in darkness for a few minutes before the screen turned on.

A Large number of Government officials sat in a large room talking amongst themselves. Suddenly the door swung open revealing Lex Luthor

"Gentlemen, thank you for coming. It's a shame General Lane isn't here." Lex says

"He doesn't want to talk to you." A man says

"Hm, and what about Waller?" Lex asks

"She doesn't care." Another said

"Hm, but you all do. Which is why we're here to discuss the current predicament, these new being walking among us." Lex said as he walked to a Display covered in a tarp

"I'm not sure if this is a predicament, if we're looking at recent events."

"True, they have shown themselves to be benevolent…. For now. If I may gentlemen a scenario, what if the Crystal gems one day kicked down the front door of the white house. Barreled through all the security and secret service, made it to the Oval Office, grabbed the president, and jumped out the window. Who would've stopped them?" Lex asks

"Why would they do that?"

"We aren't here to ask why, but if. We cannot deny that these individuals have powers beyond that of any human. And deterrents must be made to prepare for, god forbid, the worst possible outcome." Lex says

"You mean like Metallo?"

"Metallo was an unfortunate accident, and a prototype to something much greater." Lex says

"I'm sorry Mr. Luthor, but due to recent events we believe it will be in our best interest to…. Suspend our partnership with the government."

"… Gentlemen do you remember the report about the potential past of the Gems?" Lex asks

"Your theory about the war?"

"Yes, but it's not a theory. There was a war on this planet millennia ago fought by the gems, for this world. My only error was thinking it ended, it was merely put on pause, but it's about to start up again in our time!" Lex says as he pulls the cover of the display getting gasps from the men sitting there

Within the glass was a flask Robonoid bound and trying to escape spitting out its goo onto the glass

"What the hell is that?"

"I believe this little fella is from the Crystal gems Homeworld, it was found in Arizona doing some kind of recon. We believe that there are more yet to be found." Lex says

"What does it mean?"

"It means that even though the crystal gems aren't a threat, doesn't mean the rest of them aren't as well. We met the remnants of one side of the war, but what do we know about the other. Why were they fighting? Who knows how many there are, and what they're capable of. And when the time comes do you really want to put the faith of this country, maybe this world, in the hands of Freaks and Monsters. Gentlemen we need a hero, an all-American made hero, and I have the perfect blueprint." Lex says

The men look at Lex Concerned

"….. What is your blueprint Luthor?"

"Gentleman, I give you HOPE." Lex says as he pulls out a briefcase

He opens it and pulls out a cylinder, within it floating in some kind of liquid was a large gem shard. The outer layer of it was a clear crystal, under that layer was a glowing green gem, and in the very center was a small pink shard.

The area was pitch black in total darkness, the only light being a massive computer screen showing the footage of Superman and the Crystal Gems fighting in Metropolis. Before the screen was a man cast in shadow his eyes focused on the screen. Soft footsteps came from behind

"So what do you plan to do about this?" A refined British voice asked

"Prepare for the worst." A strong and cold voice said seriously as he looked at the screen

And at that moment a massive crash filled the air

"I'M OKAY, MY FACE BROKE MY FALL!" the voice of a young man said in the dark

"It appears that the worst is already here." The British voice said amused getting an annoyed groan as the shadowy man stood up to deal with the problem

He entered the shadows the shriek of a Bat filling the air

New York City

A cargo ship pulled up into the New York, workers began to flood off the ship and onto the dock. A blonde haired man with a beard was standing at the steps talking to what appeared to be the Captain of the ship.

"Thanks again for the Lift." The blonde man says

"Don't mention it, what were you and the lady doing out there in that rickety old thing?" the Captain asked

"Well-." The man said when suddenly someone ran past him

The figure did not take the stairs but leaped off the side of the boat falling dozens of feet and landing gracefully on the pavement cracking it much to everyone's surprise.

"By the gods, Steve look at this! It's beautiful!" the woman says in amazement as she looked at the city

"Yeah I've seen it before! Can you not do that in front of regular people?" The man named Steve said annoyed as the Captain looked at the woman shocked

"It has been millennia since any of my sisters have stepped in man worlds. As an ambassador and a Warrior I must be prepared for any challenges that stand in my path to peace and Love." The woman says determinedly

"Well the only challenges you are gonna find here are rude people and sewer rats." Steve says making his way down to her

"And I will face them with all my strength. MANS WORLD I AM DIANA PRINCESS OF THEMYSCIRA, AND I AM READY FOR YOU!" The woman named Diana yelled proudly as she drew a sword and lifted it into the air

"Can you please put that away, your scaring people?" Steve says looking at the crowd gawking at her

Final Author's Note

Two Years Ago I started this story, a simple idea I thought would be cool and wouldn't go very far. And Now here I am with all of you who so patiently waited for each update. Who left me comments filled with your praise, theories, and critiques. Whose love for this story pushed me to make sure I finished it no matter what. I made a promise to myself that if I was going to do this I would see it through to the end, no matter what. But honestly, if you all weren't here cheering me on I probably would've given up. So allow me to say to all the 70+ who followed this story, the 50+ who faved this story, and everyone who faved and followed my page in general

Now with that all out of the way it's time to talk about the future. Ever since I began this story I have been developing plans for something bigger, Superman is my favorite superhero but why play with only one piece when I have an entire universe to use. I am going to be Taking a long Break after this these last chapters took a lot out of me. But I promise you there will be a sequel in the near future. I have planted the seeds of this universe not it's time to grow them out. As you can tell some fan favorites will be making their debuts soon. Not to ape off Marvel but
