Erik was a little surprised to see the kid slung over a chair, left leg thumping the side as he methodically shredded a twinkie wrapper. He'd seen the rascal mope, but that was always a blur of I'm unhappy see how unhappy I am as I raid the fridge and upheave half the room and look at you like you hurt me. This kind of mopey was too slow for the kid's mental wellbeing.

"Leg bothering you?" Erik sympathized.

Grievous brown eyes dragged towards him before Peter resumed shredding the wrapper. "It's fine."

"He's your problem, you know," Erik berated Charles mentally. Nonetheless, he settled into the chair across from Peter and watched foil tatters drift to the floor.

"What's bothering you, Kid?" (He wasn't checking up him. He just knew when the imp was lying.)

Throwing his head over the armrest, Peter let his arms flop to the side and sighed. "You know… how it is… when you want to tell someone something, and they just don't listen?"

Such as Charles and most of the X-Men? Erik nodded.

Peter scoffed miserably. "Well… I gave my dad the card. He kinda just looked at it. Like he didn't even care."

"Feels like you wasted your time?" Erik ascertained. He'd never had to reunite with a family member. Losing them seemed to be Fate's play for his life.

"I think he just doesn't get it," the kid griped. "I've tried a card; I've tried everything. It always seems to fall through at the last minute."

"Cards can be misleading," Erik dismissed. "Have you tried telling him to his face?" Some men were gallingly obtuse.

Quicksilver mumbled an unintelligible response.

Clearing his throat, Erik folded his arms. "So let me get this straight: your father doesn't know he left a son behind, and you're too antsy to tell him forthright."

"I thought I did…." Quicksilver trailed off. He looked up hopelessly, like a fallen hatchling trying to flutter back up to the first branch. "So what would you do?"

Magneto shrugged indifferently and rose. "You sucker-punched En Sabah Nur. You'll figure it out."
