"Take me with you." And that's just what we did.
Cayde officially had no idea what was going on. Well, actually, he had a small idea, but what could this have to do with that?
"Cayde!" Zavala yelled directly in Cayde's audio receptor.
Shocked, Cayde immediately reached for his hawkmoon. With his hand firmly on the handle, he calmed down.
"What the darkness, Zavala! You almost overloaded my processor!" Cayde yelled.
"Ikora wanted to ask you something," Zavala growled in his older brother voice.
"Yeah?" Cayde asked the Warlock, not early as annoyed with her as Zav.
"I was trying to say that there is something on your map," she chuckled. Well, Ikora chuckled. Which is actually her keeping a straight face. Maybe frowning. Ok, so she didn't chuckle, but she had her, 'That was mildly entertaining', tone in her voice, so Cayde called it a win. He looked down at his map. Right over the part of the map that showed the cosmodrome was a baby blue envelope with a red seal. Cayde cautiously picked up the envelope, not trusting the other hunters in the tower one bit, and opened it while it was facing Zav. Confetti shot out of the card ando a loud cheery song started playing. Cayde would have long ago been dead if Zavala had heat vision, and this time was no different. With a small laugh, Cayde shook around two thousand glimmer out of the card.
"It is just a birthday card from some of the hunters," Cayde said to Ikora's 'Now I may actually listen to you for once face'. Zavala sighed and went back to plotting out the next strike.
"Happy birthday," Ikora said to Cayde, before going back to her exotic weapon blueprints.
Shocked and having no witty comeback for once, Cayde decided to read the card.
Suddenly, invisibility smoke bombs rained down from the air vents and onto the main table. Cayde, Zav, and Ikora were all turned invisible.
Cayde was pulled from the room, past Eris, through the vaults, and down to the hangar before he even turned visible again.
Once the smoke cleared and the two remaining Vanguard leaders stopped coughing, Ikora reached across the desk and picked up the card. It said, "Freedom is the best gift we could find on short notice. P.S. Hold your breath."
"Wa-hoo!" Cayde cheered as he and the fire team of five guardians road their Sparrows through the cosmodrome. It's official. He loves his hunters.
