"Huh?" came the intelligent reply from the young man standing with his mouth open.
"Parn, you can be so dense sometimes!" Deedlit said, irritated. She paced in front of a confused Parn, her slender body sending shadows over the poorly lit bedroom.
"Huh? What did I do?" Parn asked, baffled. 'One minute she's looking at me weird, and then she comes towards me with an even stranger look. All I did was move back and she starts yelling at me. What's so wrong with that?'
"I was trying to kiss you, you baka!" she yelled at her knight in anger, her beautiful face flushed.
"Why would you do that, Deed?" He looked at her, perplexed. He slowly sat on the large bed, watching his partner wear holes in the carpet in front of him.
She nearly threw her arms up. Was he really *that* dense? "Because I like you!" she yelled, agitated.
He cocked his head at her curiously. "Well, I like you too, Deed, but what does that have to do with anything?"
She gritted her teeth, frustrated. "You baka! I mean I like you in *that* way."
His brow furrowed. "What way?"
She sighed. "Okay, I guess I have to spell it out for you. I think you're cute, Parn."
His eyebrows rose in surprise. "Thanks, Deed, you're cute too, I guess," he mumbled, embarrassed, a faint blush spreading across his boyish face.
Deedlit refrained from slapping him. 'Human men are so naive.' She walked over to him slowly. "Parn, I like you a lot. A whole lot."
"Um, I know that, Deed. You and I work well together, don't we? We never get into arguments, until now, and we're good friends. Of course we like each other."
She rolled her eyes. "Parn, I'm trying to tell you I'm in *love* with you!"
"Huh?"
She finally gave in and threw her hands up in the air. "You are impossible! I'm in love with you, Parn! I want to be with you! I want to spend the rest of your life with you! I know I'll outlive you and I don't like it, but I'll take what I can get, Parn. I'm trying to say I want you. I love you!"
He watched her for a moment as she ranted. Then, slowly, he smiled. "Why didn't you say so?"
She glared at him and bent over to look him in his beautiful eyes. "I was trying to, you-" she exclaimed before being cut off by Parn's lips on hers. Her eyes widened in shock, and then slid shut as she allowed herself the pleasure of his kiss. His arms snaked around her, pulling her to him. 'Finally.'
