It is weird, Lucifer thinks. One second he'd been human and then he suddenly remembers so much more. Suddenly he is no mere human anymore. He also knew how he'd managed to escape from the cage. The cage was meant for archangels, but not for humans or demons. He had managed to disguise himself like a human soul, it had taken almost a millenia. Originally he'd never choose to do that, but being isolated and caged for a few millenia let those inhibations disappear. So he became human and was born seventeen years ago. And now his grace and memories had reappeared.

"Stiles?" his father - no, not his father - asks hesitantly. Lucifer blinks and returns to his human personality.

"I'm okay, dad!" Stiles calls. His dad believes him.

Lucifer carefully stretches his wings and lets out a sigh of relief. He hasn't been free in a few millenia. He takes a few hours to refamiliarise himself with his powers and then he beats them down again and hides his grace again. And he opens his eyes once more and seems human again. No one will be able to tell the difference.

Stiles drives to school in his old truck and parks near it. He takes a moment to close his eyes and concentrate. It is weird. He is able to see all the souls of the humans and the monsters. No, not monsters, he thinks. Friends. It is weird, he concludes. On one hand he is Lucifer, angry at the thought of humanity, and on the other hand he is Stiles, intelligent and cold when he has to be and protective and loving when he wants to be.

And Lucifer finds that he doesn't want to cause his … friends … pain and doesn't want to kill them. And so he doesn't.

He's first tracked down by a bunch of pagans, but he ignores them until they try to kidnap his friends. He deals with them one at a time and kills them, splattering the walls and himself with blood. At the end there's only Kali and Baldur, and Baldur tries to threaten him. He walks up to him with quick steps.

"What gives you the right-" he starts, but Stiles punches through his chest and wiggles his fingers. Baldur looks up to him in shock and pain and Lucifer lowers his head and tells him 'No one gives us the right.' His arm tenses again. "We take it!" he states and pushes Baldur off his arm. Kali is taken aback, but still wants to stop him and avenge her friends and flames encase her arms. She tries to hurt him, but he's an archangel. No pagan is able to hurt him. She steps in front of him and tries to hit him with flaming hands and he pushes her to the floor and tries to stamp on her skull when he's thrown back. He feels a presence he hasn't felt in a long time an looks up. "Luci." Gabriel says with a smirk. "I'm home."

Stiles stands up and looks at his younger brother. "Really, Gabriel?" he says in bemusement. "I knew you went to the pagans, but to fight against me because of them?"

Gabriel helps Kali up and ushers her out of the room, threatening Stiles with his angel blade.

"Lucifer, you're my brother and I love you." Gabriel calmly tells him. "But you are a big great bag of dicks."

"What did you just say to me?"

"Bohoo!" Gabriel continues. "Daddy was mean to me, so now I'm gonna smash up all his toys!"

"Watch your tone." Lucifer warns tensely, because that hit a sore spot.

"Play the victim all you want. But you and me? We know the truth. Dad loved you best. More than Michael, more than me. Then he brought the new baby home and you couldn't handle it. So this is all just one big temper tantrum. Time to grow up." Gabriel tells him.

Stiles rolls his eyes. "This isn't about the apocalypse, you moron." he tells his little brother annoyed. Gabriel stops with open mouth. "What?!"

"Long story short: I spent the last seventeen years as a human until the Winchesters opened the cage." Stiles summarises. Then he rolls his eyes again. "Don't search for me." he says and flies away.

And Gabriel doesn't search for him.

He feels the demons search for him, but he doesn't want them to find him so he keeps up the facade - but is it really a facade? - of Stiles. His friends don't notice the difference, but he isn't surprised. He has always been the only one that uses his brain. Sometimes he thinks that Peter knows, because he sends him calculating looks. This doesn't surprise him either, because he might be Lucifer, but Peter is like him in almost every way. He sends Peter a warning of his own and the werewolf keeps quiet. And so when the Winchesters finally find him, he lets them shoot him in the head with the Colt and it hurtshurtshurts so much, but he doesn't kill them, because he's better now. He just stands back up with a groan and tells them 'ugh, that hurt'.

"Stiles?" he hears Scott ask, and he feels a bit of regret, because Scott was so young and wouldn't understand. "He isn't human, you moron!" Peter is the first to talk. "He hasn't been for a year!"

Dean Winchester can only stare at him in shock and Lucifer tilts his head. "Yes, Dean?" he asks and he can't help but smirk when Dean flinches.

"Wh- what are you doing?"

"Trying to find out why you just shot me, considering I haven't done anything since you opened the cage."

"Aren't you trying to start the apocalypse?" Sam asks in confusion.

"Oh, Sammy, I haven't been in that cage for eighteen years. Seventeen of those years I was human. Meaning: The apocalypse isn't going to happen." he tells them and Sam sputters. "But you're Lucifer!" he exclaims. Lucifer can practically feel Lydia pale.

"The fallen angel." she whispers.

"Otherwise known as the devil." Peter adds in a voice that is smug and fearful at the same time, though he tries to hide the latter.

"What about Stiles?" Scott asks worried and angry and his eyes start to turn red.

"I've always been Lucifer." Stiles says, because he's Stiles now. "Just … without my power and memories."

Scott takes a step back, because now he finally feels Lucifers Grace. And Stiles feels sad that he is loosing his best friend, but he also understands it. He isn't upset. It's time to move on, anyways, Lucifer thinks. "Well, it's been nice, but I'm leaving." he tells them. And with a flutter of his wings he's gone.
