When You Hold Me…

By Kirra Myrtus

"You almost done, Kirika?" asked Mirielle. Kirika was making tea for the two of them in the kitchen. After the hospital visit for Kirika, Mirielle had requested some of her tea. Just because she got shot didn't mean she couldn't make tea!

"Almost, just wait a little longer." Kirika's kind voice reassured Mirielle; she was still worried for her partner after the gunshot wound she'd endured. Of course, the hospital had taken good care of Kirika, but that didn't change the fact that she'd gotten hurt. Kirika turned the corner, walking into the room with two cups of tea. "Here you go…" Kirika's words flowed like a smooth waterfall as she set the teacup beside Mirielle's computer.

"Thank you." Mirielle sipped the tea, the corners of her mouth forming a smile. Kirika sat in the chair on the opposite side of the table.

"What case are you looking at this time?" Kirika asked. Mirielle giggled, turning the computer around for Kirika to see.

"Actually, I'm planning a trip for us to go to London. I've always wanted to go there, you know." Mirielle's eyes stared off into space until Kirika interrupted her thoughts.

"What, is Paris not enough for you?" she joked.

"No, no… it's just, we've been in Paris for quite a while, and I don't appreciate how close we are to The Soldats. But if we went to London-"

"I thought we didn't have to worry about The Soldats anymore. We already killed Altena, so I don't think they'll be bothering us much more."

"I understand, but I don't want to take any chances." The blonde shifted uncomfortably in her seat.

"Chances? Mirielle, if it comes down to it, I'm sure we could win in a fist fight or-"

"Kirika." Mirielle's tone was serious, and her eyes darted to the floor. "I can't risk losing you again." There was a long silence after those words.

"Mirielle…" Kirika stood up and walked over to Mirielle's seat. She wrapped her in an embrace, which didn't seem to startle her. Mirielle lifted her hands to touch Kirika's, placing them on her soft velvet cheek. Kirika leaned in close, whispering in Mirielle's ear, "I promise you won't ever lose me."

"Thank you, Kirika." A tear fell from Mirielle's bright blue eyes, and Kirika only hugged her tighter.
