A/N: So I'm thinking of scrapping the idea I had of Oliver with anyone from the Arrow series. It's just with the way I'm writing the series itself it has changed some (well a lot) of things like Sarah was never with the League since she never went with them on the boat so...I may have screwed unintentionally with the Legends verse unless I find a way to fix that...

Also, I am now obsessed with SuperArrow. Crisis on Earth X ruined any other pairing for me, so I kinda want to go in that direction but...not really sure how since they've made it a point to make them both from different Earths...if anyone is confused the SuperArrow pairing is Supergirl and Green Arrow just to clarify.

If you guys have any thoughts about me doing SuperArrow instead of pairing Oliver with someone in the Arrow-verse let me know, I'm always looking for alternative options to what I write and I love feedback with things like this as this would be my first dive into writing for the SuperArrow side of the fandom.

Chapter 8: An Innocent Man

Diggle coughed when we gave him the antidote to the curare and I saw Oliver turn around on one of the chairs we had in the lair. I shared a look with Thea as Oliver had his hood off and walked towards Diggle.

"Hey." Oliver said to Dig as the man sat up. It looked like he was having a hard time believing what he was seeing, at the same time, it didn't look like he was as shocked as he should have been.

"Oliver?" He then looked over at me and Thea as we also took our hoods and our masks off. "Briar? Thea?" He managed to get to his feet. "You're the vigilantes." He stated rather than asked. Oliver only nodded. Suddenly Dig took a swing at Oliver who ducked under it quickly thus making Dig crash into the table with the computers.

"Easy, Dig. You were poisoned." Oliver said as the other man struggled to stand once more.

"Son of a bitch." Dig replied as he took another swing at Oliver who this time just caught it and Dig as well, restraining him so he wouldn't do any more damage to himself than letting him go back to the table we had had him on when we first got here.

"We could have taken you anywhere, we could have taken you home." I said finally speaking up.

"But we brought you here." Thea finished coming up next to me.

"You two really did lose your minds on that island, and you drug your little sister with you."

"Found a couple things along the way" Oliver replied.

"Like what archery classes?" Dig asked incredulously.

"Actually I already knew archery before the island, I'm the one who taught him some of what he knows." I half grumbled in exasperation. "Thought you had read my file."

"Clarity." Oliver replied to Dig. "Starling City...is dying. It is being poisoned by a criminal elite who don't care who they hurt as long as they maintain their wealth and power."

"What are you gonna do? Take 'em all down by your lonesome? Drag your sisters along with you?"

"We volunteered for this Dig. We're helping our brother with this because we believe in what we're doing." Thea defended Oliver as we both came to stand next to Oliver.

"I chose to help him when we came back, we made the decision to do this together. Thea found out and decided to help us, we told her she didn't have to, insisted on it, but she is stubborn and didn't want us doing this alone." I replied as I placed a comforting hand on Oliver's shoulder.

"No." Oliver finally replied to Dig. "No, we want you to join us. Special forces out of Kandahar. It's perfect. You're a fellow soldier."

"Oliver, you're not a soldier. You're a criminal and a murderer." Dig replied before finally starting to make his way out of the lair and then out of the old warehouse.

We got home a little later, the three of us silent as we walked into Merlyn Manor. I saw Laurel waiting and steered Thea away from that confrontation, but we stayed close by just in case.

"Where were you?" Laurel asked Oliver as he started to make his way upstairs.

He turned towards her. "What? What are you doing here?"

"I heard about the shooting, and I wanted to make sure you, Briar and Thea were okay." She replied and I made a motion to Thea to remain quiet while we listened to the conversation.

'Please let this be them going back to being friends.' I thought hopefully.

"You did?"

"Yeah." Laurel looked somewhat out of place. "I knocked on the door and had to hear from Walter that you, Thea and Briar had moved here." I winced at the reminder that I hadn't told her that Malcolm was our father, or that we had moved in with him.

"Oh…" Oliver groaned quietly and leaned against the banister.

"Oliver are you so self-centered that you don't think that the people who care about you are gonna wonder where you are after you all got shot at?" Uh, oh...this was not going to end well.

"You're right." I could tell Oliver had regretted not telling her about us moving here and there may have also been some regret that they were actually having this conversation.

I could tell there was more that Laurel wanted to say, but she seemed to decide against it and just walked out the front door.

Thea walked over to Oliver. "That was harsh, you okay?"

"Sure, second time tonight, that a friend of mine has taken me to the woodshed." Oliver replied with a strained smile. "It kind of tires you out. Goodnight you two." He said and hugged the two of us before heading to bed.

I shared a look with Thea before sighing as he walked up the stairs and out of sight. "We need to figure something out about Dig, and I should have told Laurel that we had all moved in here and that Malcolm was our father but..." I winced. "Kind of been too worried about Deadshot."

Thea and I were up watching a show on tv just having a late night because I couldn't sleep when we heard Oliver walk in. Thea looked up at him as he sat on the bed next to her. "Couldn't sleep either?"

"No. What are you two watching?" He asked getting comfortable.

"Peter Declan." She replied.

"Hm?"

"A guy who killed his wife. Right, this guy killed his wife in their baby's room. Psycho." Thea explained as she realized that we wouldn't know who he was and she had just switched to this channel right before Ollie walked in. "And why can't you sleep?" She asked muting the tv.

"Bad dreams." He replied but we both looked at him. "Alright, flashbacks. Of when we first got to the island and Yao Fei helped us." He elaborated. "Something Laurel said must have triggered it."

Thea hugged him. "It'll get better Ollie. Don't know how long it will take but it will. I have to believe that." She said quietly as he hugged her back.

"I hope so too Speedy."

"Just got to remember to be yourself, Ollie, well, I mean your new self." Thea said smiling.

The next morning we all walked down to the living room and found Malcolm and Tommy there as well. "Hey, morning," I said as we all walked into the kitchen to get some breakfast.

"Good morning little sis," Tommy said grinning.

"You are absolutely loving this aren't you?" I teased as I sat down with my pancakes.

"Oh definitely. By the way, got a notice from your friend Diggle. He has officially tendered his resignation. For some weird reason." Tommy replied also sitting down with his food.

I shared a look with Thea and Oliver before we all sighed. "That's too bad, I was just getting used to him."

Oliver was paying attention to the news. "Jason Brodeur?"

"What?" Malcolm asked looking up.

"The dead wife worked for Jason Brodeur."

"Apparently so. What...why?" Malcolm asked confused.

"No reason. I'm going to head into town for a bit. Anyone wanna come with me?" Oliver asked as we finished up.

"Mmm, I was gonna go and visit Sarah and Laurel today, clear some things up that I didn't tell them before." I replied as I got up and cleared my dishes.

"And I need to continue with my homework." Thea grumbled.

"Alright well, you two know where to find me if you wanna join me." Oliver said before saying goodbye to Tommy and Malcolm and leaving on his motorcycle.

After clearing up the confusion with Sarah and Laurel about living arrangements and telling them about finding out that Malcolm was actually our father, I headed over to the lair and joined Oliver.

"They say Peter Delcan murdered his wife in cold blood. He had no alibi. And all the evidence pointed toward it. He was tried, convicted, sentenced to death. An open-and-shut case, except for one thing. Declan's wife, Camille worked for Jason Brodeur." Oliver informed me as I sat down next to him.

"And Jason Brodeur is on the list." I finished and he nodded.

A bit later Oliver was finishing up making new arrows, and I was finishing up sharpening my swords.

"The odds are good that Brodeur is involved in this woman's murder, which means an innocent man is facing execution. He'll need a good attorney." I pointed out as he set the arrows aside.

We had camped out in Laurel's apartment later that night and were waiting for her to get home from CNRI. I nodded at Oliver when we heard the front door open and Laurel walked in as we activated our voice modulators.

We heard her cock a gun as we walked up to her and she aimed it at Oliver but kept an eye on me as well.

"Hello, Laurel." I rolled my eyes at Oliver's dramatic opening.

"Don't move! Either of you!" She said still pointing the gun at us.

We both lifted our bows and put them on the ground. "We're not gonna hurt you."

"Stay back. My father's a cop. You are making a huge mistake."

"We're not the people you think we are." I replied as her attention was then on me. We slowly took a step forward.

"And we need your help." Oliver finished. "Peter Declan is gonna be executed in 48 hours. I think he's innocent. Declan's wife was gonna blow the whistle on Jason Brodeur. Brodeur had her murdered."

"There are a thousand lawyers in Starling City. Why me?" She asked her hands now shaking slightly.

Oliver had gotten to her and gently lowered the gun. "We're both trying to help."

"What makes you so sure I'm gonna help you two?"

"Because I know you'd do anything to save the life of an innocent man." Oliver replied and I had to smile a little at that. Oliver gave me the signal and while she was paying attention to him I made my way out of the apartment and then when she looked to where I was Oliver did the same.

We perched on the top of the apartment building. "It's up to her now." I said softly.

Oliver and I decided to go and see Dig the next night. We found him at Big Belly Burger talking to his sister-in-law who left as soon as we got there.

"Hello." Oliver said as he sat down across from Dig.

I gave Dig a strained smile, realizing he was uncomfortable around us.

"I couldn't help but notice a distinct lack of police cars when we got home, I knew you wouldn't drop a dime on me. So, have you considered my offer?" Oliver asked as I cringed at the wording.

"Offer? That's one hell of a way to put it."

"It is an offer. It's a chance to do the kind of good that compelled you to join the military. That compelled me to try and join up with ASIS." I argued right back.

"Please. You were born with a platinum spoon in your mouth. What, you spent five years on an island with no room service and suddenly you found religion?" Dig snapped.

I took a deep breath and placed a calming hand on Oliver's arm. He took out the book and placed it on the table. "This was Robert Queen's. I found it when I buried him." He said taking it back from Dig who had been looking at it.

"I thought you said he died when the boat went down."

"All three of us made it to a life raft but there wasn't enough food and water for all of us, so he shot himself in the head. And as much as he was doing it to give me a chance to survive I believe he was also atoning for his sins. I need to right the wrongs done by the Queen family. And I'm offering you the chance to right the wrongs done to yours."

"Oliver, what are you talkin' about?"

"The police never caught your brother's shooter."

"Hey, you leave Andy out of this."

"The bullets were laced with curare." I continued halting Dig. "That's Floyd Lawton's MO."

"He is the sniper...that I stopped." Oliver finished.

"Are you trying to tell me that you took down Andy's killer?"

"I'm...I'm giving you the chance. A chance to help other people's families. Do you remember when the people in this city helped each other? They can't do that anymore because of a group of people...people like Robert Queen they see nothing wrong with raising themselves up by stepping on other people's throats. It does need to stop and if it's not gonna be the courts, and it's not gonna be the cops...then it's gonna be us." Oliver said and I could hear the conviction behind his statement, Dig would be blind not to hear it as well and I could see that he was listening now more than he had been the other night. "And, I hope, you." He finished and we got up to leave.

"Whatever you decide Dig, know we're not the criminals, we're just doing what we have to, to clean this city up. These people don't want to be reasoned with, we've given them chances, those who fix their own wrongs we leave alone but keep an eye on. Those who don't...well." I shrugged. "Just, think about it. Okay?" I asked and he nodded as Oliver and I left the building. "We're gonna need to let Thea know about all of this." I warned Oliver as we headed back home.

Oliver just groaned in response.
