I KNOW I HAVE LIKE 10 FICS TO UPDATE. I KNOW. But I wrote this for Tumblr and thought it was worth posting here. Whatever. Usual stuff. I don't own Danny Phantom. You all should know that's obvious right now.
…I'm really tired, sorry.
It took four full days to confess to Jack and Maddie what had happened in the lab. Well, technically they didn't confess everything. They left a couple "minor" details out. Like the fact that their son was now part ghost.
To be honest, it wasn't their fault it had taken so long to talk to the Fentons. They had wanted to confess on the third day but neither Maddie or Jack would leave the lab now that the ghost portal, their greatest invention, was working.
On the fourth day, Jazz forced them to take a break, even though it was only for a few hours.
Danny, Sam, and Tucker waited for Jazz to leave to go do whatever she did when she left the house. Then they approached the two ghost hunters.
"Mom? Dad?" Danny said. "We need to talk to you."
"Well, Danny-boy," Jack responded. "What do you want to talk about?"
Danny fidgeted with his hands for a while but he didn't manage to create and actual sentence. Sam spoke up for him.
"We... we were the ones who turned the portal on."
There was silence for a second before both parents spoke up.
"WHAT?"
"Danny!" Maddie scolded. "You're not allowed to bring non-family members into the lab! In fact, you're not supposed to be down there!"
"I know..." Danny mumbled. He was staring at his feet. One had turned invisible. Luckily, his parents couldn't see it.
While Danny attempted to make his foot regain visibility, Sam spoke up.
"We know, too. We're sorry. It was our idea."
"What did you three even do?" Maddie asked.
"There was a button on the inside," Tucker explained. "You just had to press it."
Maddie's eyes widened. "Please tell me you three unplugged the portal first."
"Of course!" Danny all but yelled. "We unplugged the portal! Definitely! Yup! Totally unplugged it! Sure!"
Both of his friends glared at him. He went back to trying to turn his foot visible again.
"Are you three okay?" Jack seemed worried.
"Yeah, nobody got hurt?" Maddie asked, mirroring her husband's concern.
Sam nodded. "Yeah. C'mon, it's not like anybody died."
Maddie seemed hesitant. "Well, just don't do it again, okay? C'mon, Jack, there's more research to be done on the portal."
As the older two Fentons left the room, Sam noticed both Danny and Tucker staring at her.
"What?" she asked.
"'It's not like anybody died.'" Tucker repeated.
"What?" Sam looked at Danny for an explanation before she realized what Tuck was hinting at.
OH.
