Day 5
9:30AM
My sister and I were lucky today to have afternoon to evening classes but not so much lucky because that cuts into much needed sleep. Sleep where I felt like I was dreaming yet I wasn't, it was odd but that's how I felt.
We were taking the whole Fazbear gang with us to get Mary from the hospital. Not sure why the prison would allow this but if they have poor maintenance of their cells, easily talked by a 22 year old woman into giving the few prisoners they have new cells, multiple deaths and such shows either they don't care or think we are good enough for them to be guarded by.
Everyone was quite in the van which was fine for me. Not sure what to even talk about with them, maybe I can hold a conversation with Mangle since to me is an easier person on the group to get along with at the moment. I checked my old messenger bag again to see if its cargo is ok. It was and I was glad since it was a good amount of effort to do.
'Hope Mary likes it. Something to feel more like herself or something like that,' I thought to myself. We soon arrived to the hospital and parked the van. Lily and I got out first, then I opened the backdoors to let the Fazbears out. One by one they stepped out and I helped Freddy get his cousin out by him taking the wheelchair and me carrying Gideon out.
I didn't bother telling them any of the standard or any kind of rules. They all are smart so I guessed they knew what the rules are without being told. Lily lead the way, followed by Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Gideon, Foxy, Mangle and me taking up the rear. Mangle slowed down to walk next to me. "How are you after last night? The bruise," she asked me.
"Still big, purple and blue. Sore and a bit hard to breath with my ribs hitting it but I'm alive with blood replacing what was taken," I said to her. "Think you can still fight him?" "Yeah, I think I can but uh…I want to ask you and the others something without Lily nearby," I said and I see from the corner of my eye the worried look on Mangle's face. "Hey, don't look at me like that. Making me feel guilty for worrying ya," I said to her as we entered the hospital.
"Can't help but to worry since you are a good person under that aloof persona," she said making me chuckle. "Aloof?" "Yes, aloof. Distant, reserved, cool but also standoffish." I laugh, "ok miss thesaurus, you got me. But listen, it's important that I tell you all before tonight," I said as quite as I can so Lily couldn't hear us. Mangle nods as Lily heads up to the front desk and I go to stand next to her. "Excuse me, we are here to pick up Mary Marionette Jones," Lily spoke with the receptionist as I looked around.
The Fazbears wandered around the lobby but didn't stray too far from us as they waited. I didn't bother telling to stay close or anything like that so I stayed quiet and scanned the room before my eyes stopped on Keith Winters. And he knew I saw him, and he had a smile on his face that told me that he did something that will end badly for me.
Something that will hurt me and even after so many years since our break up and me moving on, I still got a shiver in my spine and a tiny nagging voice telling me to go over to him and beg him to not hurt me like I have many a time before when we were together. I snapped out it when I felt a hand on my shoulder and turn to see a concerned Mangle.
The moment I saw her and the longer I looked at her I felt a calm wash over and I relaxed. I wanted to comfort her, tell her I'm fine before she asks that question. But before we could say a word to each other, Mary arrives in a wheelchair, pushed by a nurse. I go over to Mary while opening my bag as Lily talked with the nurse. "Hey Mary, I got something for you," I said as I pulled out her newly repaired mask and I also pulled out a different mask that had the quotes of well-known puppeteers, writers, classical music artistes written on it.
All of them made to look like the painting, Starry night. I wasn't sure if she would have liked the second one but I thought that this gift along with repairing her old mask will be a step forward to peace between me and the group. Along with it being an apology to her for not getting her off that electric floor quicker so that she won't have to spend 3 days in the hospital.
The group was in awe of the masks while my sister was proud of me for this. Mary gently took the masks from me and looked them over, trying them both on. "They both fit. The second is beautiful Rosa. Did you make it?" Bonnie translated Mary's sign language. I crossed my arms, gently kicking the ground, just feeling embarrassed.
"Yeah, I did. I repaired the first and I made the second in some free time I had. Just to show that I'm not much as the monster I have been this week and as a sorry to you personally Mary. For not being quick enough to get you off that damn electric floor to the point where Bart could have lost you. But instead landing here with injuries that you never should have gotten," I said, not looking at Mary or any of the others. But I see in the corner of my eye, Mangle looking at me with a smile on her face, proud that I'm showing some of my true colors.
I felt a hand on my arm and I look over to Mary who gave me a sincere smile. "Thank you, Rosa. I accept your apology," Freddy this time translated as Mary puts on her signature mask. "I shall save this mask for special events," Freddy continued to translate. "You accept her apology? Mary! Are you forgetting what she-" Chica started before being silenced by a look from Gideon.
"This is a nice first step to having more peace between all of us." I give a small smile till I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked and saw Lily who was pale as snow with a scared look on her face. I followed her gaze and through the front doors of the hospital and saw Oliver and Ava Smith making their way to us.
A heavy ball fell in the pit of my stomach as I looked back at Keith, who still had that smile I grew to hate with all my life. This was how he was going to hurt me. By calling my adopted parents.
