James didn't realize how quickly things would escalate with Steppenwolf. Last time he checked the timeline, there was only a small percentage of causalities from the upcoming crisis this spring. James didn't want to bring this to the teens' attention until the time called for it. But how exactly did he know about the crisis? It was simple. James isn't originally from this time but rather the future. Born in 2030 and came to present-day Coast City from 2060 as a thirty-year-old. This is exactly why James told the teens he would be preparing them for a series of foreseen threats. Little did they know their team leader was holding on to this secret since the beginning. But now seemed like no better time to break the news. The timeline was at risk and it was up to The Teenage Elites to save it.
James ran an uneasy hand through his messy brown curls as he examined the news article once more via hologram.
Steppenwolf still at large. Teenage Elites killed during his rampage.

Coast City High School
October 4, 2017
The next day at Coast City High, Students were just arriving on campus for the day. The time was 7:40 a.m, leaving 20 minutes before 1st Hour would begin. Barry was currently stationed at his locker as he organized his school materials for the first half of the day.
Moments later the speedster locked eyes with Eddie who was making his way down the Junior hallway, with a CC Jitters cup in one hand with the other occupied on holding his bag. Also to Barry's surprise, Eddie was wearing sunglasses.
"Good Morning" Barry greeted cheerfully
Eddie plastered a fragile smile as he began to work on his combo lock.
"Hey" He replied in a low mumble
"What's with the sunglasses? It's so cloudy outside" Barry prompted
"Can't a guy look fashionable for school?" Eddie remarked with a dry chuckle
This causes Barry to narrow his eyes and cross his arms at the Thawne boy in question.
"Only if they have something to hide"
Damn it. Eddie should have known better than to hide something from Barry Allen. Cause the secret was bound to be discovered.
Eddie let out a stressed sigh and then removes the sunglasses. Behind them was a freshly created black eyes around the teens' right side.
"Oh my gosh!" Barry shrieked as he examined his friend's face. "Who did this to you?"
"My dad" Eddie began "He's been drinking again, which has gotten to the point of him being violent. Anything that goes wrong at work or in general...I've become the human punching bag. He even still blames me for my mom leaving so many years ago, and he's right. I caused them to separate and it's just..."
Eddie stops to collect his thoughts and from having a complete breakdown.
"That's not true," Barry said softly "We love you so much, Eddie. You need to report what happened to the police."
"No, I can't! If he finds out I snitched just imagine what he could do next."
"I won't let that happen"
"It's too risky Barry. Please don't tell anyone till I figure something out."
"Eddie"
"Please" Eddie begged with pleading eyes
"Alright fine, I won't say anything"
"Thank you"
The 7:55 warning bell signals through the hallway.
"I better get to class. Catch ya at lunch" Eddie says closing his locker and heading off in the opposite direction.
Barry stood speechless. Why did he agree to hide such a huge secret?
"Fuck" He muttered in distress
Today was already off to a rocky start.

Marcus' Room
Marcus' POV
After a tedious day at school, I get to go home and do more work. I love being a teenager. Currently, my bed is cluttered with my AP Government textbook, Unit 2 Packet, and correlating notes. Ms. Parker assigned 12 pages of reading, at this rate I'll be able to recite this chapter in my sleep. Luckily, Max was keeping me company via facetime. The phone was positioned in the corner of my laptop giving him a partial view of me as I skimmed pages in the book.
"I have to give you props Marcus. Your dedication to school work is inspiring" Max said
"Sometimes I wonder how I made it this far without a mental breakdown. After Government, I still got my Creative Writing journal entry, Psychology vocab quiz to study for, Algebra worksheet and need to look over and complete the pre-lab checkpoint for tomorrows' Chemistry class. The fun never ends"
"I believe in you! You got this"
"Thanks, Max. You're too much"
"Nonsense. You even got the nerdy vibe to go along with it."
"Is that a bad thing?" I asked with caution
"Of course not. It's rather adorable"
At this point, I couldn't hold back the blush that formed on my face.
"Thanks"
But with that came an unsettling wave of anxiety I wish wasn't present.
"Hey is it cool if I call you back later? Really wanna buckle down on this homework"
"Yeah definitely. Talk to you soon"
"Ok bye"
After ending the call I collapsed onto my bed. The beating of my rapid heart and clammy hands was enough motivation for me to pause on homework.
What the hell is happening to me?! I never considered myself anything other than straight. But I'm now realizing one thing that could drastically change things.
I was falling hard for Maximus Thunderman.

Later that night after training, Marcus invited Barry over to his house to play video games.
The two male teens were currently huddled around Marcus' flat-screen television as they battled each other in Mortal Combat.
"Hey, Barry?" Marcus prompted
"Yeah?"
"Can I get your advice on something?"
"Of course. What's up?"
Barry pauses the game and turns to face his friend to show his complete attention"
"So, I have this crush"
"Oh yeah? Who's the lucky girl to have stolen Marcus Davis' heart?"
Marcus begins to fidget on the floor nervously as he turns away momentarily.
"That's the thing. It's not a girl"
Barry blinks in confusion
"Wait...It's a guy? Are you...?"
He trailed off hoping I'd fill in the blank.
"Gay or Bi? I don't know. I always thought I was straight. But the way I feel about this guy says otherwise"
"And it's okay not to know. I don't care if you like guys. I'm your friend and will love you regardless"
"You don't know how much I needed to hear that"
" But tell me, who's the lucky guy?"
"Max Thunderman"
"Max Thunderman? Ronnie's' Cousin?"
"Yeah. Is that bad?"
"Very bad! Ronnie will kill Max for even looking at his friend in that way. As you know they don't get along"
"What Ronnie doesn't know won't hurt him"
"But about if you guys get together? Do you plan to hide your relationship forever?"
"Not forever. Just please don't say anything till I figure things out"
"Oh no not again"
Barry then realized he said that out loud and covered his mouth as a reaction.
"What do you mean, not again?" Marcus asked
"It's nothing. I don't know what I'm saying" Barry babbled anxiously
"Do you know something I don't?"
"Yes. But it includes someone else"
"Who? You can tell me"
"I can't"
Barry gets up from the floor and gathers his belongings.
"Thanks for the invite. But I better get home. Don't worry your secret is safe with me."
Before Marcus could call his friend back he was long gone.

The West Household
Barry zoomed his way back home and casually walks through the front door. As he enters the living room, his adoptive father, Joe, was sitting on the couch reading today's newspaper.
"Hey Bar. How was school?" Joe greeted warmly
"It was alright. But I was wondering if we could talk?"
"Sure"
Joe pats the empty seat next to him, inviting his son to sit down. Barry does so and sets his book bag on the floor.
"So, what's on your mind?"
"Well...Two of my friends have trusted me with deep secrets. One of which has me concerned about their safety. They don't want me to say anything but I feel as though the longer I wait for this friend to figure out a plan, It'll put them in more danger. Do I just keep being a bystander or stand up and do something?"
Barry pauses and turns to Joe in anticipation of some much needed fatherly wisdom.
"Well Bar, I'm gonna ask you this one simple question. What does your heart tell you to do?"
"Help my friend. Even though he'll probably hate me. But it's the right thing to do."
"There's your answer. I know it might seem like you're betraying a friend. Just know we have to make tough decisions for those we care about"
"In that case. I'm gonna need your help, Joe."
"Led the way"

Thawne Household
Mere minutes later, A swarm of cop cars surrounded Eddie's house. It didn't take long for the clear evidence of child abuse to be present. Eric Thawne was being dragged out of the house in handcuffs, voicing out empty threats if finishing what he started once released from jail. The officers paid him no mind and continued to drag him till he was stationed in the back of a CCPD patrol car.
Once all the officers were out of sight, Eddie rushes over to Barry and hugs him tightly.
"Thank you" He whispers gently
"Anytime. I'll always have your back"

A few days later...
Teen Elite Tower
All the teens were hanging out in the common area, killing time before training would start. Caitlin, Cisco, Rosie, and Ronnie were in the midst of a Dance, Dance, Revolution battle and things were getting tense.
"Better catch up ladies," Cisco remarked
"Cause ya'll are about to be defeated" Ronnie finished
A devilish smile appeared on Caitlin's face
"Oh yeah?"
She then uses her cytokinesis to freeze the boys' feet in place. Giving her and Rosie enough time to catch up and claim the victory.
Ronnie then realized he could have just melted the Ice. But at this point, it was too late.
"Hey, no fair! You can't just use your powers to win"
"On the contrary, we never said anything about not using our powers. So, we didn't break any rules" Rosie mentioned with a cocky smirk
"She's got a point" Marcus calls from the couch as his face continues to stay plastered on his phone.
"Oh, what do you know?!" Ronnie says before retreating to the kitchen for a snack
Cisco and the girls followed suit.
Moments later, James, enters with Barry, Cassie, and Eddie.
"Gather around team. I need to speak with you all" James says
"What's going on?" Caitlin questioned
"It's time you knew the truth about me and what lies ahead with Steppenwolf"
The teen's exchange glances at each other in confusion
What exactly did that mean?
To be continued.
