Doctor Who is still not mine. Please drop a review on your way out! :)
It was an innocent enough question. Or so Rory thought. He really, really should've known better. But it just formed in his still half-asleep brain and exited his mouth.
"Doctor, what time is it?"
He didn't notice his wife do a full on face-palm behind him and mutter: "Oh, no…"
The Doctor whirled away from the controls where he had been 'fixing' some loose wires and looked at Rory like he had just grown another head.
"What time is it? Seriously? Rory, where are we currently all standing?" The Time Lord asked the thoroughly confused human.
"The TARDIS…?" Rory looked around unsure for a moment. For all he knew this was another dream, or something.
"Yes. The TARDIS. And What does the 'T' stand for?"
"Time." The Doctor smiled and walked straight up to him.
"Right." He punctuated the syllable by lightly bopping Rory's prominent nose (much to his annoyance). "So, it can be any time you like it to be." The Doctor whirled away again with a satisfied air.
"Yes, but what time is it now?" Rory tried again. Amy rolled her eyes. "I mean the 'R' stands for 'relative' right? So what time is it, relatively, now?"
The Doctor glanced at his gold watch a moment, scowled and then fixed his eyes back at Rory.
"Oh, you humans and your linear time. It's not always cause to effect y'know. As I've explained countless times: it's all a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey… stuff."
"Is that just another way of saying your watch is broken?" Amy cut in with an amused smirk on her face.
The Doctor opened and closed his mouth a few times while pointing right at his cheeky, red-headed companion.
"Ye- No!" He huffed, looking at his watch like it offended him and tapped it with his finger a few times. Amy laughed. Rory was beginning to get a pounding headache.
"It's half 8, by the way." Amy said with a grin. She kissed her husband's cheek and went in search of some breakfast.
