"I'll be fine…it'll all be okay. You two should go home and get some rest, worrying won't do any good."
Edd's words echoed in Matt and Tom's minds as they exited the hospital. Even with everything going on, even with that disease destroying him, he still wore a smile. His voice still rang with happiness. Tom looked into the darkening, clouded sky and sighed. Matt looked at him.
"I think we should listen to Edd, worrying won't do him or us any good." Matt said. Tom slowly nodded.
"Alright, I'll be home later. I just wanna take a walk, clear my head and stuff." He said after a few seconds. Matt nodded sadly, knowing that Tom would probably just sit somewhere moping. He silently walked away and left Tom alone in front of the tall building. Tom found his way to an alley nearby and punched the brick wall repeatedly.
"It's not fair. He doesn't deserve this!" He said as he continually punched the bricks. Small drops of blood began to appear on the wall, but he didn't care. "He shouldn't be there, in that bed. He never did anything to deserve that!" Tom yelled. He finally noticed the stinging in his hands and looked at them. His knuckles were covered in cuts and scrapes, blood slowly dripped down his fingers onto the ground. He sighed and sat down, leaning against the wall. He reached into his blue hoodie and grasped his trusty flask. He pulled the silver object out and opened it up. Tilting his head back, he swallowed the liquor and felt it burn the whole way down. One quick sip became two, then three, then four, on and on until he'd drained the whole flask of the toxic drink. He desperately sought for more, trying incredibly hardly to forget the events of the past few weeks. He held his head down in sadness. He eyelids were clenched shut over the vacant holes in his head where his eyes should be. He sighed.
"I just wish that everything could be the way it was." He looked into the sky as it began to rain. "I just wish you could be okay." He whispered.
"That can be arranged." A child-like voice echoed through the alley. Tom stood up quickly and got into a defensive position, stumbling slightly in drunkenness. He waited in silence for a few seconds and watched a white cat walk out of the shadows. Tom rubbed his eyelids for a few seconds, trying to make sure he wasn't hallucinating. "I can assure you, you aren't dreaming." The cat said without moving its mouth, sitting in front of Tom. "Hello there, my name is Kyubey, and I can help you."
"What the hell is going on?!" Tom yelled.
I must be more drunk then I thought…
"As I said, you aren't dreaming." Kyubey said.
"Then what do you want?" Tom was beginning to get mad at the small animal.
"I would like you to make a contract with me and become a magical boy~!"
