Ron heard a cupboard door slam shut behind him, and he turned to see his fifteen-year-old daughter glaring at the draw, almost willing it to do something.
His search for the hidden chocolate was forgotten, as he stared at her back, her blue dressing gown worn, and he remembered that Hermione had tried throwing it away three times.
"Rosie?" Ron asked, unsure whether she was just being moody or there was actually something wrong.
"What?!" She snapped, spinning around. Ron caught a glimpse of the door, and it confused him greatly. Why would she be in the potions cupboard? There was nothing in there she would need, especially at 2am.
"What are you looking for?" Ron asked softly, not wanting to anger her.
"Promise you won't tell mum," She demanded, glaring at him.
Luckily Ron's hands were in his pockets, so he crossed his fingers, fearing the worst, "I promise."
She sighed and hung her head like she was guilty, "I was looking for Liquid Luck."
Ron's eyes widened as he stared it his ashamed daughter, his mouth dry. He crossed the distance between himself and Rose in two long strides, and pulled her into his arms. She didn't have to tell him why, for he already knew.
"You'll do perfectly, I promise," Ron murmured, and she shivered slightly, causing Ron to frown, "We need to get you a new dressing gown."
"I like this one!" She protested, and Ron thought back to when Hermione first suggested it to her, and Rose had even stomped her foot, trying to get her way without throwing a complete tantrum.
"Okay. Now, off to bed. Daddy has chocolate to find." Ron said, letting her go, smiling at her,
"The chocolate is in the potions cupboard, I found it while looking." Rose said, walking away.
Ron raised his eyebrows, letting out a surprised, "Oh."
"Dad, what if I don't do well on my OWLs?" She asked and Ron shook his head with a laugh. She frowned, but he stopped her from responding.
"I found that believing in yourself is a hundred times more powerful than luck."
Rose nodded, and left the kitchen, leaving Ron to eat his chocolate.
