I know another chapter so soon? I must be ill! But this chapter is more about how the Zelda in this timeline is and a little more about the world they live in. I hope that everyone is enjoying the story so far! I don't want Zelda to be a side character in this so that's another point of making this side chapter.
The princess stayed up all night pouring over the books in the castle's enormous library, she was thankful that the Gorons mainly occupied themselves by eating the stone walls and left the library and every important piece of history, art, and writing alone. Maybe they had some intelligence in them afterall and did not blindly follow human orders. Zelda's bright blue eyes were filled with worry as she whispered in her soft voice," Plants will begin to die…The earth will tremble with fright…The mountain will spew it's fiery rage incinerating all who are near…The signs…Would they listen? So many ages worth of history and none have been wrong. Who decided that these legends were nothing more than fables? A bedtime story? It should be obvious. The answer should be here! But…"
She put her head in her hands giving an exasperated sigh. It didn't make sense, it seemed like there was a page torn out from history itself. Why would the library have so many books detailing the heroic actions of the god's chosen hero? From the cloudy skies where their people flown on majestic birds to the shadows of Twilight where one of their own aided the other world and saved it from doom. Then a hero who got lost in time and from then on it was theorized that the hero ended up creating multiple timelines and realities. She wished that she had some way to prove that it was true to slam the books down on the table and triumphantly proclaim that these stories was their history and that it should be taught as such instead of being used to help children sleep at night.
Zelda truly believed that if they found the hero in the stories then he would end the war. He was Hylian right? So if she found the mastersword and him then he could rid the land of both the evils of the war and these dark ominous cloud that shrouded the land. No one can see the pitch black cloud of despair but she could. Every time she looked outside it felt like she was going to be sucked into it and that she would lose her very soul. The land had more problems then a civil war but peace talks between the humans and Gorons would always escalate and she would be rushed out of the room before one of them landed a hit on her. Perhaps she should start standing her ground instead of allowing the guards to usher her out of the room once the talks escalate, maybe she should use her voice instead of her status to get somewhere with them.
Would it even work? Growing up she was told about how barbaric the Gorons and humans were. How they would never hesitate to murder their own kin for a piece of bread. That they did not live in a civilized society but as she grew older and started to explore the world and discover more and more each day she wondered if it was all propaganda. If she sat down and talked to a select few then maybe she could get somewhere. It was a muddled mess in her head one moment she was thinking of getting the hero to take care of them and now she was imagining actually sitting down and talking to them without her guards.
She was only seventeen with the coronation this afternoon marking her eighteenth birthday and her step into adulthood. She would become the Queen and she would have full control. She was nervous about whether she could truly lead her people and decided the only way to prove herself would be to strike an alliance between the Gorons and the humans. If she managed to do that before her coronation she could even add it to her speech! She could proudly stand in front of her people and proclaim that the land was united once again, that they could unite against the dark force that was trying to claw and tear at the land. No one could sense it but she could, why didn't anyone believe her?
Zelda rose from the desk and closed the old worn book before placing it back on the dusty shelf. So much of the castle staff had been murdered eighteen years ago and no one was willing to step up and help the 'cursed' royal family. They did not believe the stories about the hero clad in green but they didn't hesitate to believe the part about a calamity that always followed and struck at the royal family. If they could believe in such a curse then they could believe that there was a hero who would selflessly save Hyrule as well. But for now she would try to calm the tension between everyone and then maybe the castle will come alive once again, people would be less frightened to work for the royal family.
She made sure that no one was following her as she quickly made her way through the castle, her white coronation dress reaching just above her ankles, the ruffled train flowing behind her. It would not take long and she would be back before anyone realized that she had even left! She did not think twice about wearing her coronation dress for this meeting. The gold anklets and bracelets made a soft clicking sound as she used the secret passage behind the king's statue in the main hall to leave the castle. The passage had been put there in order for the royal family to evacuate if the castle was taken over but she was positive that everyone else forgot about it by now.
Ever since returning to the castle she was not allowed to leave and so her heart was beating in excitement and nervousness, she was going to leave the castle walls for the first time in years. She made sure to bring her bow and arrows just in case things did not go as planned but she was confident that she would not have to use them. That they could reach a cordiale understanding. The passage was short and had various twists, turns, and branching routes that would confuse anyone who would try to pursue the family. She had no trouble navigating these paths and was soon at the end, she looked at the heavy oak door that separated her from the outside world. She reached out and took ahold of the vines that covered the door and was a bit hesitant to rip them off, what if her mother found out? She could imagine how disappointed her mother would be that she disobeyed and left the castle…But at the same time she strongly believed that she had to do this. If she didn't then they would be stuck in this endless blood-filled dance, they would be at war forever! She could not wait for the hero in green for this one…She needed to do this.
She ripped the vines off and pushed open the door shielding her eyes from the harsh sunlight as she stepped out. Zelda looked around expecting the land outside of Castletown to be a barren wasteland and was surprised that instead she was met with lush pastures and wild horses contently grazing nearby. The path they took to the castle had been nothing but mud and sharp rocks, but this was a different sight. For a moment she forgot the reason she left the castle as she crouched down to the ground stating to herself in an incredulous voice,"This is hibiscus! It was said the plant went extinct hundreds if not almost a thousand years ago! I wish I could bring this to my mother..It was said to make a calming and relaxing tea. She really needs as much help as she can get in that area..Though I heard that goats are rather fond of this plant as well..Haha. Maybe they ate it into near extinction!"
Zelda stood up and looked at the horses again, they were majestic and proud creatures much better then the ones that were in the castle stables even! These horses escaped hardships and thrived. She began to walk through the field gently touching the plants with the tips of her fingers and smiled as the soft gentle breeze caused her long golden hair to flow behind her. She felt like she stepped into a whole different world! She allowed herself to enjoy the moment, to feel the sun on her pale skin and to smell the fresh cool air. She left her hectic life and stepped into paradise it felt like!
Out of the corner of her eye she noticed some wild grass whistle and approached it. She couldn't have a meeting if she didn't call the people she was supposed to meet now could she? Zelda plucked a blade of grass and summoned her hawk, the sound carried for miles it seemed like! The sound was so crisp and clear! Even the grass whistle was better than the ones they grew in the castle's green house! A moment later her hawk approached and landed on her outstretched arm, the magnificent creature waited to see why it was summoned and so Zelda said to the hawk as it accepted the letter she handed," Make haste and go to the camp on the outskirts of castle town…The Goron and human camp. It is imperative that this message reaches them soon. Now fly!"
She released the hawk watching it fly away believing that she was doing the right thing. She could feel the dread forming in her chest and her stomach was knotted but it was normal. She was doing something risky but beneficial for her people and all of Hyrule. It was normal to feel nervous over something like this. She had six hours until her coronation and that was plenty of time to resolve everything. She would make it work if she had to.
Review, favorite, and alert! I will be trying to update this one as quickly as possible! :3
