A new play has opened at the Royalty Theatre on Broadway. And it is sure to make a splash-literally!

This 3-act play is called Death at the Ascot Hotel, and was written by Frances Butler. It is a comic murder mystery about-well, you guessed it. And in the final scene, all of the cast members-including the detective-end up in a swimming pool with their clothes on!

The pool was specially constructed for the set. It is 10x10 feet large, and 4 feet deep. And yes, it does contain water! Heavy boards hide it, during other scenes of the play.

And how do the actors feel about going swimming fully clothed, night after night?

"It was a little weird, at first, but now it seems almost normal," says Ann Marie, who plays a maid. "The only thing is, it's cold! Oh, and I constantly lose my shoes, in the pool. Once, I had to jump back in the water to retrieve them!"

One must imagine the dry cleaning bills!

The play also stars William Jason, Margret Steinberg, and Robert James, who plays Detective Richard Stewart.

The play opened last week, and runs through July 15.
