Elle dressed in all black, as cliche as that felt. Asha carefully styled the masses of Elle's hair into a tight bun, pulled back and out of her face, atop the crown of her head. Rhoslyn placed the magic seal on Elle's neck to suppress her magical energy from Egret's detection. A'nthora'n didn't have to worry about this measure; in his faerie form while his magic was more powerful it was so faint unless actively being used that it could easily be missed. A'ntothra'n in his faerie form looked identical to his more human appearance, of course now he had the addition of large translucent wings sprouting from his back. Elle wore a black hooded cotton coat, in length it reached down her midthigh and she kept the hood pulled up over her head as A'ntothra'n tucked himself into the pocket on her chest.
Elle stood at the center of the throne room with Jareth facing her while Rhosyln stood at her back. "Rhos and I will transport you there, and Rune will get you back when you're ready." Jareth instructed. "Be careful."
"I will be." Elle insisted as she nodded to signal them to begin the spell. Jareth and Rhoslyn then both extended their arms out and began to chant simultaneously the same incantation as Elle was surrounded with a soft blue glowing light. She felt her body go almost weightless as she transported and within an instant she found herself now in a new space; the recognize the same flooring and walls as the throne room of Utopia, which luckily for the sake of this endeavour was hardly ever utilized. It was the same place they had been when they attacked Nephatalie, the only room in the castle Jareth could visualize to transport Elle.
"Quick, we need to get out of the open." A'nthora'n warned as Elle quickly scuried out of the center of the room towards a side exit door. She was at a complete loss for how to navigate this castle, but hoped it would be of similar layout to most castles she had visited. It made the most sense for Nephtalie's body to be kept somewhere like an infirmary or basement until the memorial service, so Elle searched for stairs so she would get to the main floor of the castle to begin looking for the queen's body.
Elle stepped lightly, keeping her movements swift. "This would be easier with a seeking spell." Elle whispered.
"I know." A'nthora'n sighed, "But we can't risk it."
"I know." Elle admitted, but she was still unhappy about the situation. Even if she had been just more familiar with the castle the task would have been far less stressful but she was going in completely blind. She managed to make it to the ground floor of the castle, and every so often she would dip into side halls to avoid patrolling guards. The covered a vast majority of the main floor and found no hint of the queen's body and made the decision to descend into the lower underground levels of the castle to continue her search.
In the lower levels she found several dungeon cells which were completely unguarded but once they began to move through the narrow hallway between cells Elle felt a strange feeling in the pit of her stomach. "Do you feel that?" She whispered to A'nthora'n. He said nothing in response, no shook his head no. "It feels like...a pull?" She wondered then if Nephatalie had foreseen and suspected enough to leave a pulling spell behind to help Elle find her, to guide Elle by pulling her closer to where the body laid. Elle let the sensation guide her, as her feet seemed to carried themselves against her will towards the source almost like gravity. The further she traveled the stronger the feeling, the more certain she was that was getting closer to Nephatalie.
She soon found herself in front of a large wooden door with a small opening blocked by bars, one of the only cell doors that was shut. Elle peered through the bars, and within the dimly lit room she saw the body of Nephatalie laid across a small mattress in the corner of the room. "We found her!" She whispered to A'nthora'n as she attempted to open the door - which had been left unlocked. Elle quietly opened the door and shut it behind her as she approached the body, knowing somewhere on the queen's body she had most likely created a transposed pull charm. Elle's immediate instinct was to look somewhere most likely overlooked, easily hidden, and removed the shoes and stockings from her feet where she found the charm along with a preservation charm transposed on the bottoms of Nephatalie's feet.
"She must have known something like this would happen." A'nthora'n mused as she fluttered out from Elle's pocket and begun to look over the body as Elle examined the charms. "Elle, she's not wearing a necklace." A'nthora'n observed causing Elle's attention to immediately shift to look up at Nephatalie's neck; sure enough he was correct and the amulet was gone. Everything else she was wearing was the same as the day Elle struck her down, but the necklace was missing. Before either one of them could brainstorm where the necklace could have possibly been, the door handle seemed to move as the door was opened. Panicked, Elle gestured to hide - they had already agreed should Elle be discovered the best course of action would be for him to conceal himself so he could later sneak out and rely on the alert to the others back at the Goblin Kingdom.
Elle took a defensive stance, prepared to break her seal and fight if need be, but as the door opened it was an unarmed handmaid that entered the cell. The woman was carrying a bowl of steaming water and a few towels - as if she was sent to clean the body. When the maid noticed Elle she gasped and dropped her bowl and towels and was about to shout but Elle quickly crossed the room and covered the woman's mouth as she pressed her firmly against a wall. "Don't scream, I won't hurt you." Elle assured the woman. "My name is Elle, I'm from the Goblin Kingdom. I'm the one who killed the queen under the assumption she had been taken over by another soul. Did you love your queen?" The maid nodded softly, her eyes widened at Elle spoke. "What if I told you I could bring her back, the real queen, her real soul inside her real body?" The maid seemed to react positively, nodding again. "If I move my hand will you scream?" She maid shook her head no. "Good." Elle then slowly removed her hand, hesitating in case the made still decided to call for help.
"My name is Leeah." The maid spoke in a hushed voice.
"Leeah, the queen was wearing an amulet, a choker necklace with a large ruby. Do you know where it is?" Elle questioned.
"Yes," Leeah began, "The princess took it back."
Elle found herself confused for a moment by Leeah's answer, and followed with another question, "What do you mean she took it back? Had it belonged to her before?"
"No my lady," Leeah answered bluntly, "She had given it to Queen Nephatalie as a gift."
"When?"
"The same day you and your companions arrived to stop the imposter. She had insisted the queen wear it."
Elle then realized this was the proof she needed; she had originally thought Nephatalie wore the necklace on her own accord and suspected she would need it. Now Elle realized that was not the case at all. Rowna made Nephatalie wear the necklace as a way to fool the failsafe in the soul eradication spell; to trick Elle into thinking Nephatalie had been Rowna when the attack hit and the queen didn't fall into a coma. Just then a new question crossed Elle's mind, "Did the queen ever get sick? Did she ever experience a comatose state?"
"The queen? No my lady...But Princess Egret did."
"When?"
"When she returned after the birth of Princess Leeandra, before she returned to Havenwood with Lord Shawn."
Elle was right and now she could prove it. But she still needed the amulet. "Do you know where Egret keeps the amulet?"
"Not exactly, but I imagine it's somewhere with her others jewels in her personal chambers." Leeah mused simply.
Elle smiled; she was so close to victory now. "Can you take me there?"
