The archer crept through the door of the dark apartment at two a.m. His coat encased his body. His hands gloved. Bare skin hidden.

"Alec?" The warlock rose from the couch in the living room and switched the teapot shaped side lamp on. Alec gazed at his fiancé. Makeup smeared around his cat eyes. Hair in beautiful disarray. Loose silk pyjamas. Alec swallowed and closed the door.

"M-Magus," he stood in shock at the door. Chairman Meow joyfully lurked around his legs. Yet he couldn't break Alec from his frozen state. "Where is-"

"Asleep." Magnus stated. Knowing that Alec meant their child, Max.

With his back to Magnus, Alec attempted to normalise his breathing as he put his bow into the umbrella holder. Yet a pull of blue sparks on his left glove sent it out of control again.

"Please, don't." Alec said, grabbing the glove. A noise of pain slipped through his gritted teeth.

A glittered hand held Alec's shoulder. He flinched. Magnus coaxed him to turn around. Alec complied. Blue eyes on the ground. Expression empty.

"Alec-" Magnus' fingers touched Alec's. He slowly pulled the glove off his hand. Magnus dropped the glove to the ground and saw the burning iratze on Alec's skin. This wasn't new for Magnus. But the worried heartache would never go away.

Magnus held Alec's hand and magically unbuttoned his coat. The heavy fabric landing on the ground with a thud. Magnus fought the urge to repel in shock. Alec's arms were imprinted with iratzes, burns and healing cuts. His black shirt was stained with ichor and shredded to seams. Magnus held tighter onto Alec and turned Alec's attention down to his eyes. Magnus saw the dark circles and sighed.

"How many?" Magnus asked. Steady eyes never leaving Alec's.

"Fifteen." Alec muttered. He despised telling Magnus about his dangerous missions. He couldn't handle people worrying about him. The Angel forbid his son knowing the danger he constantly faces. Alec tensed at the thought and was sent spiralling into fear. His heart palpitated.

A kiss brought him back to reality. Alec's eyes widened in alarm and Magnus smiled.

"Alec," Magnus said. "I won't lie, seeing the love of my life in pain will never not hurt." Magnus' smile faltered slightly. "But I'm a big boy. I can handle it." They both smiled. A glimmer of happiness returned in Alec's eye.

"I'll kiss your wounds until they shine." Magnus said and encased Alec's hands in his own.

"And I'll love you forever for it." Alec replied and pressed his forehead against his beloved's.

"You'll have to say that a little louder, Alexander." Magnus teased.

"I'll love you-" Alec began. Magnus interrupted him with a kiss.

All fear and despair seemed a million miles away. They couldn't be closer to each other.

A small wail of a blue warlock resounded around the apartment. Chairman Meow tried to notify the fathers by impatiently wailing. The couple pulled apart and grinned at one another.

"I'll do it," Magnus said and let go of Alec's hands. "Get some rest, dear."

Alec nodded and stalked to the bedroom. Magnus tended to their baby.

Magnus used to wonder what his life would be like as a mundane. A shorter lifespan. Less pain.

Now with Blueberry and Alec; Magnus knew his eight hundred years had a purpose. Them.
