It is a truth universal acknowledgement that a young woman does not need to be in want of a husband at the tender young age of 25. Well a young age for the woman of whom this story is about. Of course, not everyone held the same sentiment. To other people (her mother) she was already classified a spinster and was running out of time to find a suitable husband. The woman of this story was fine with that because she was a strong independent woman, right? So, now here is the story of a woman who never intended on having, or gaining a husband ended up landing one.

Tap…

tap…

nudge…

nudge.

Consistent tapping slowly pulled Lizzy out of her sweet dream that as soon as she arouse left her mind. Not wanting to be disturbed she tried to burrow deeper into her comforter and go back into the wonderful world of unconscious bliss.

"Lizzy, I know you are up." Of course, Jane was up, why wouldn't she be. Lizzy knew her older sister would not move until she opened her eyes and ask her why she woke her up. But she was too tired from going to sleep late the night before due to binge watching on Netflix. Groaning Lizzy knew she shouldn't have stayed up but hey, who could really stop her, she was grown. Trying to make herself smaller Lizzy curling herself into a ball wiggled away from Jane.

Jane who was perched on the side of her sisters' bed leaned over and started her tap, tap, nudge, nudge pattern all over again. Lizzy felt the sleep slowly start to slip away, and if she was a deep person, she would say it was almost like the water slipping through your fingers no matter how hard you try to keep it. Giving up on the dream of her sister leaving and letting her go back into dreamland Lizzy aggressively flopped on her back and turned her eyes on her sister.

"If you are waking me up because of mom tell her I have cramps and can't speak to her."

Their mother had a tendency to call both of them respectively what felt like ten times a day, even though it was only three, but that woman could talk for hours and that is when she is busy doing God knows what.

"Our dear mother just called to tell me that someone was finally moving into the Netherfield estate. You know that place down by that park. Supposedly its some millionaire who decided to buy it. That's why it was being restored last year." Jane said pulling the comforter back and snuggling in next to her sister. Wait, pause, that is what needed her attention in the morning, hearing the news of an estate that she did not care about and a millionaire that she did not know? Netherfield estate was an old home made in the 19th century. In Pennsylvania it is was one of the many places that had some sort of historic importance, something like George Washington or Alexander Hamilton took a nap there or wrote something there, whatever they did she had little to no care about the place.

"So, you are telling me that you woke me up just to speak about some old stale place was bought by a millionaire?" Lizzy asked incredulously. Jane's soothing laugh filled the entire room.

"Well not necessarily even though that is part of the story. There is a party that Mr. Lucas is throwing tonight at his hotel and the word is that said millionaire has been inviting along with a friend of his. Mom wants us to be neighborly and actually go."

Elizabeth chuckled and turned her head to stare at her sister. Her sister was beautiful there was no doubt about that and there was no question that their mother was trying to hook up her eldest to the new rich man in town.

"Ha, you mean she wants you to find a man so she can have grandkids before she gets old. Which means she is trying to hook you up with Mr. Millionaire coming to town and she is hiding that behind acting neighborly!"

"No! Maybe she just wants us to act nice and meet new people!" Jane exclaimed. Ahh Jane ever the positive person.

"Jane accept it she gave you up as tribute, you're the oldest and the prettiest which means Mr. Rockefeller is yours."

Jane Bennet was the eldest daughter of five. Standing at an average height of 5' 6'' with a mix of dark and light brown hair with blue eyes inherited from their maternal grandmother. Her slim figure, beautifully elegant face and kind nature added to the charm of what was Jane. Being the eldest she had a motherly air to her that could come out often while dealing with the two youngest of the family. She always saw the good in people, but that did not mean she was a push over or naïve, like every other woman in the family she had a side that if prodded and pushed would show itself without any questions asked. Coming in second was Elizabeth, Jane's Irish twin, otherwise known as Lizzy or Liz and not Eliza or Beth, she felt that her name was already old, and those nicknames made her sound either like a woman from the 19th century or a cow. In terms of body type and hair Lizzy was the complete opposite of her older sister. She often kept her hair in its natural curls, or in a protective style. Instead of blue eyes she had bright green with a touch of gray which many people had said were her best features. The bright eyes came from her dad's side of the family. Following the theme of how the Bennet family always had weird or different colored eyes.

Elizabeth was petite with a height of five feet and one whole inch, not that it really made a difference. While having a flat stomach she had curves and a bust, and not that she was bragging but she was proud of her body. All those hours of working out did its job. The breast came in the sixth grade causing the young girls who were in her class to make fun of her because she was out of her training bra before them and causing the boys to look at what they thought was her eyes. While Jane was the elegant beauty, Elizabeth was also a beauty, but as some people say the sexy type of beautiful. She used to hate when people would say how her, and her sisters were exotic because of the colour of their skin and eyes. Both of her parents were of Caribbean and West Indian descent along with other things. Lizzy's maternal grandmother was Hispanic and got married to her grandfather who was a Guyanese American. It just so happened that Lizzy's mother met her father who was actually from Guyana himself. Mixed beyond belief her dads' side of the family was the definition of being open minded with whom they chose to be with.

All of the Bennet girls had similar physical features to them. Of course, this caused problems when they were older causing some of the sisters to change their looks to be different from the bunch. Mary dyed her hair red nearly causing their mother to have a heart attack and had grey eyes. Kitty and Lydia the second youngest and youngest both had a black birthmark under their eye, and to separate that similarity Kitty had cut her dark brown hair to her shoulders. While Lydia remain with her always straighten long hair.

Their manners were sometimes mismatched. Jane was the sweet, loving and caring sister who saw nothing but good in the world, Lizzy was the sassy, logical and sometimes witty one who saw the world through as she said her majorly tinted sunglasses. When things were good, they were good, but when things were bad she didn't pretend they were peachy. Mary was the, well it was hard to describe Mary sometimes. She went through a gothic phase, then what she liked to call her enlightenment phase. Where she started playing the piano all day every day. It was fine in the beginning until she started singing with her playing, and if there is one thing Mary couldn't do is sing. One thing that never changed about Mary was that she was quiet and sometimes out of the loop all the time. Although, like Lizzy she was a logical but free type of person.

Kitty and Lydia were basically the same person. Kitty was older out of the two, but she followed Lydia around like a lost puppy. They were flirts, Lizzy was sorry to say it, but it was true. Guys and nothing but guys were all they worried about. Which in turn made Lizzy worry for them.

"That is very unlikely Jane." Elizabeth dryly added sitting up and leaning against her pillow. Pulling her arms above her head and feeling her body stretch out the kinks.

"We are just going to show our face. Besides you have nothing to do but read some books and continue binge watching The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix." Jane was now laying her head comfortably on Elizabeth's lap and her herself was started to doze.

Playing with her sister's hair Lizzy agreed slightly to the statement even though watching the Haunting of Hill House was like a job. Whole family was fucked up.

"Fine," Lizzy adds with a smile, playing with strands of her sisters' hair, "I guess it will be good to finally do something other than work all the time, besides I can see Charlotte." Her statement was answered by a soft snore from her sister having been lulled to sleep by Lizzy playing with her hair. Well isn't that some type of shit Lizzy thought. Snorting she leaned her head back and closed her eyes going to sleep with the background noise of somewhat delicate snores.
