Chapter 1

Karma considered himself lucky every time he went outside. Demons left and right wore collars or bared marks that showed off their status. He even saw old friends that had been so prideful looking defeated. Itona, Ritsu, Gakushū...

He did find some friends that weren't in bad situations. Yukiko and Isogai were living together and playing nanny to children. Yuzuki had found a human that used her to edit novels. Tōka and Hiroto had been freed from their contracts and were staying with Isogai and Yukiko for protection. Karma suspected Hiroto had another reason for staying with Isogai, but he was more concerned with something else.

He hadn't found Nagisa. Karma remembered when Nagisa had been summoned. How he faded away in his arms. Instead of begging for Karma to save him, Nagisa spent is time comforting Karma. His final words were saying that they would meet again. When he was summoned, he prayed that Nagisa would be there to greet him. But he wasn't. So he made it his goal to find him and then they would go home together. Whenever he reunited with one of his friends, the first thing he would ask them about Nagisa. If he couldn't search, Isogai and Yukiko would be his informants.

"We haven't heard anything about Nagisa." Isogai said when he saw Karma approaching. "We'll keep listening for anything."

Karma nodded then hissed in pain.

"Is it your..." Yukiko struggled to say the word. Karma saved her the trouble and nodded in response.

"Go." Isogai said. "It's going to get worse if you stay here. Besides your master isn't that bad. It's probably something easy."

"Right." Karma gave them his signature smirk and left. It left his face the moment he was passed the gate. His master was a rather weak person. He hadn't even summoned Karma, it had been someone who wanted to give him a gift. The only reason Karma hasn't killed him was because he had a good life and if he did kill him, Karma would be sent back to his world. He wanted to find Nagisa and return home with him.

"You're back!" The human walked down the stairs. His voice had a relieved undertone that made Karma raise a brow and cross his arms.

"You know I wouldn't leave." He said. The "yet" went unsaid.

"I know." The human sighed. "That's what I called you back. She called me. She has a new daughter and wants me to visit."

"Alright." So this is just another annoying trip. What does it have to do with me? Karma crossed his arms.

"Her name is Nagisa."

What-

"Stay in place!" Karma felt his body freeze. His "master" had a look of pure panic.

As he should. Karma had told him repeatedly never to say that name. If he had to, Karma would give permission. But he had broken that agreement. The only reason Karma didn't attack him was because of the "contract" making him freeze.

"I wouldn't say the name of it wasn't for good reason." The human said. "It could be your Nagisa."

The more was a low growl in Karma's throat. His eyes became a darker shade of red.

"If it isn't I promise we'll come back home!" The human said quickly.

With feeling back in his legs, Karma said nothing and walked past the human to pack his bare essentials.

You better hope that it is my Nagisa.

A/N: And so my third re-write is posted!

And with this, I'm closing the poll on my profile. After I'll be posting the other stories in order of how many votes they have. If they don't have any votes, I won't re-write it.

This is a little out of the blue, but I've been encouraged to make a tumblr account. How would you all feel if I made one?

Thanks for reading!
