Big Brother Gets Protective
Summary: "If James ever found out that Sofia had been hurt by his good friend, Hugo was dead to him." A one shot of a protective James watching Sofia and Hugo from afar.
Disclaimer: I don't own Sofia the First.
Author's Note: This is a long story of how this story came about so let's start at the beginning. In December of last year, I had recorded "Lord of the Rink" for a college friend of mine who can't watch the show due to it having "lots of magic" which I have no idea why she can't but I guess with her parents being Christian, magic is sort of like witchcraft to them. Anyway while recording and commenting on the episode as part my first impressions on it, I kept saying that Hugo and Sofia were being shipped throughout it. Well after looking through fan art, I was correct with my statement. Now please read and enjoy.
James knew that it was wrong to spy on his little sister and best friend but he couldn't help it as ever since Sofia and Hugo performed together in the ice dancing class, the blonde prince noticed that Sofia had been acting funny.
Not clown or jester funny, almost if she was sick kind of funny.
Humming, giggling to herself, picking up hem of her dress and dancing through the garden, and daydreaming.
The blonde prince didn't know what had gone on with Sofia at first until Amber mentioned the L word one night when the twins had peeked in their sister's room, hearing her mumble Hugo's name in her sleep.
And now thanks to the L word, James had found himself hiding behind a bush while he heard Sofia and Hugo talking.
He heard Sofia giggle at a joke Hugo told which James didn't mind but had he looked up from the bush, he would've saw his little sister holding his friend's hand and Hugo shyly looking at her.
He would've pushed them apart before telling Hugo to back off while James knew that he would've earned crossed arms and a scowl from Sofia but the protective brother in him wouldn't care as long as she was safe.
Safe. That word had been plugged into his brain since Sofia's arrival at the castle two years before and it would always stay in his brain as the brunette princess was too precious for the world of hurt and betrayal that came with the L word.
James now hated the L word as it took Sofia away and made him protective of her.
From the bush, the blonde prince heard Sofia and Hugo talk about normal things like school and Flying Derby which he didn't mind much but Hugo's stuttering he did mind as it seemed to him that his good friend had a crush on his little sister and had to babble like an idiot to keep himself from admitting it.
If James ever found out that Sofia had been hurt by his good friend, Hugo was dead to him.
For now the prince of Enchancia could only confirm that Sofia did or didn't have a crush on Hugo but that didn't mean he wasn't going to be protective of her.
After all, she was the youngest and the smallest in the family and someone had to fill the protective shoes.
Well, Amber could share that role of filling the protective shoes but to James, that was only for sister things not for things like the L word.
As James heard the bell rang, he got away from the bush and while it did earn him a couple of looks and questions of why he was hiding, the blonde prince didn't care.
His little sister was most important and he didn't want anyone to get in his way when it came to her and his protection.
Not even Hugo.
