A/N: I know it has been a while but sometimes work can get hectic, like it has been for the last few months. This chapter probably will be a bit smaller than the last few chapters, a bit of a filler chapter if nothing else, to keep you all going. I will try and get more chapters out this year but with work sometimes it can be a bit hectic.

There is a slight bit of bad language in this chapter and for that I apologise.

You might want to thank honus47 for their message, it is the reason why I have managed to finally get this chapter finished.

Monty growled low in his throat as Jennifer made her way towards the door, someone was out there that he did not know, alone with the little ones that he started to become so fond of, from day one of meeting them. He shuffled forward, growling low in his throat, pushing himself in front of Jennifer as she went to open the door. She tried to pull him back out of the way but he was having none of it, so in the end she sighed and gave up besides she was worried for her children. Although it had been mere a minute since she had heard one of her girls scream, it felt more like a lifetime, as she took her courage in hand and opened the door.

As the door opened Monty bounded forward, ready to whip the throat of whoever it was who was intending harm to those he loved.

Deeks leaned backwards on the chair as he studied the people sitting opposite him. There was three people, the guy who he learned the night before was not a wannabe wrestler but a federal agent alongside two others, one of them being Tracey or as he had learned her real name was Kensi, and a guy who he could swear was the cab driver who had picked Tracey/Kensi up a few days before.

The atmosphere in the boat shed was a little tense as the four studied one another and Deeks found himself becoming very uncomfortable, under the intense gaze of those opposite him so much so, that he got up and walked over towards the coffee machine, while he tried to formulate what he was going to say next. He sauntered back to the seat he had recently vacated, as though he did not have a care in the world.

"So, what happens now?" he asked.

"Depends," he heard the smaller male agent say behind him.

"On what?" he asked, cautiously.

"On whether or not you are going to get out of our way so we can do our jobs and arrest these bastards."

"Oh, hang on a minute, if you feds think I am going to walk away from this, you have got another thing coming. I have spent weeks on this case and I am not walking away, so you can forget it!" Deeks informed them all, pushing himself out of the chair, in anger at the arrogance of the agent in front of him.

Callen smirked at the furious looking Deeks.

Rising to his feet, he got in Deeks face and smiled. Deeks glared right back at him but before he could say anything, a voice was heard behind the two men.

"You will work together, which means that Detective Deeks will not be walking away from this, is that understood Mr Callen?"

Hetty stood calmly behind them, her hands crossed in front of her, as she watched the team around the table.

"But Hetty," Sam began.

No buts Mr Hanna, you will all work together, do I make myself clear!"

The team shuffled in their seats, their eyes not quite meeting their boss as they agreed to work with Deeks, Deeks just stood where he was looking smug at their discomfort, not that he had the opportunity to gloat for long as Hetty turned he attention to him.

"As for you Detective, you too will work with my team and you all will get these buggers. These orders also come from your boss as well as myself."

Deeks swallowed a gulp as Hetty turned her attentions on him.

"Yes mam," he quipped back, a little subdued by the ferocious attention of such a small demeanour left him in no doubt that if he did not there would be serious repercussions, not from his own boss at LAPD but directly from her. Her manner left him in no doubt that if she wanted to she could make his life even harder than what it already was.

Hetty beamed the agents and detective and muttered "Good, lets get on with formulating a plan to get these buggers shall we."

As Monty bounded through the door to protect the girls, he skidded to a halt at the sight before him. The two girls were screaming but also laughing with apparent delight as they lay and sat on top of the intruder who had entered the communal yard at the back of their home.

He felt movement behind him and he turned his head to see their mother coming out of the door behind him, her hand in front of her mouth and tears coming from her eyes but they did not look like tears of sadness but rather of joy.

Jennifer knelt beside him, her other hand coming down to rest lightly upon his head. He could feel the joy, disbelief and another emotion, just rolling off of her but utmost was the joy and the other emotion which he could not quite make out what it was, till she spoke to him. Her eyes never leaving the sight before them of her precious girls sitting on top of the stranger who had invaded their yard.

"He came back for us," she told Monty, "I never believed he would come back for us, even though he said he would."

Monty gazed back to the stranger on the ground, he knew now what that other emotion was that he felt besides the disbelieve and joy.

It was love.

A/N: As I said at the beginning, sorry it has been a while. So, who do you think the man on the ground might be, a past lover or her husband? Is he related to her girls? You'll have to wait and see!
