Yup, my motivation has returned. It's been forever and my vision on this story has evolved so I'll be sure to re-write the details again, so no one is lost.

I'm standing outside the lab entrance again. Feels just like last night I was here, oh wait I was.

James told me that the experiment got loose from it retrains and is now hanging around in the lab probably making a mess. He told me that the Dazzer Beam is strong enough to knock out the experiment long enough for me to drag it back into the holding cell.

I look over at James who's standing at the keypad. He gives me a thumbs up, "If I don't hear anything from you in half an hour, I'll come in myself." I respond with my own thumbs up. The door begins unlocking.

Here we go.

The door opens wide enough for me to slide through, allowing me to get inside without the risk of the experiment getting out.

The lab is dimly lit, I turn to my left and see the lights above the medical bed damaged which best explain why the rest of the lights are having trouble to get to full brightness. But it's not just the lights that are damaged, the silver trolley next to the bed is flipped over and all its content on the ground. As I check out the rest of the room, I see a trail of mess that leads through the two rows of counters at the right side of the room all the way to the back wall.

As the right side of the room has four long counters, its lines up with a left, middle, and right pathway. The left pathway is the pathway in the centre of the room and leads straight from the door to the cell. While the right pathway is the space between the counters to the walls that contain sinks and shelves.

I grip my Dazzer Beam with both hands and slowly walk around the counter till I'm standing in the middle pathway. The lab is too dark for me to properly see the end of the room, so I continue moving down the pathway. Before I'm standing in the middle of all the counters, I spot a liquid puddle in front of my feet, I'm not sure what it is but best not to touch it at all. I step over it and now I have a better visual of the back wall and see it.

The experiment is on his knees, leaning over with his arms wrapped around his stomach, his left side is facing me while his right side is leaning on the cabinets. Its eyes are closed and seem to be taking deep breaths. Now's a good chance to contain it without any more mess.

I raise my gun and point it at him. I switch off the safety and ready to pull the trigger and… pull the trigger… and pull the trigger… Why can't I fire?

I remove my finger and lover the gun. Augh, what am I doing? I did all this to see it again but no real reason why?

I release my left hand from the Beam so both my arms flop to my side, but I forgot I was standing in-between counters and the Dazzer Beam made a slight bang when it hit the cabinet door on my right.

The creature swings up but stays on his knees, and its glowing yellow eyes stare right at me. We look at each other and both jolt back in a startle. The creatures back hit the cabinet behind it while I take a step back onto the puddle. I slip, falling backwards my left shoulder hits the corner of the counter.

As I hit the floor, I wince in pain and swing my right hand around to cover my banged shoulder. I remove my hand and see blood covering my palm. I look at my shoulder and see a bit of blood, fortunately, the cut itself doesn't look bad though it would be best to clean and bandage it up quickly to prevent infection. All labs contain at least one first aid kit, so I just need to find it.

I look around the lab and spot the box hanging on the wall, oh no, it's on the back wall right above the experiment.

I look down to where the experiment is still sitting and surprised that it hasn't moved since it noticed me. Its big yellow bug eyes are still looking at me, does it even blink?

I look around the lab again and spot the Dazzer Beam just out of arms reach. Ok, no need to panic, you're just stuck in a lab with a monster and your only defence is too far away to grab. I'm trying to stay calm but looking between the first aid and experiment is not settling my nerves.

The experiment tilts its head like a dog then looks behind it and spots the kit. I freeze as it turns its head back and looks at my shoulder. I then starts moving to stand up. I shift in hopes of getting closer to the gun and this time it freezes. It stares at me, possibly waiting for me to move. I decide to stop trying to get the Dazzer and see what it does. It begins slowly standing up and turns it back to me. It grabs the kit off the hook then sits back down. It places the box on the ground in front of it and then slides the kit across the floor where it lands just at my feet.

It… it helped me?

I stare at the experiment and it's now crossed it legs, staring at me. Is it helping me or waiting for me to get distracted? This thing single-handedly destroyed an entire military base among so many terrible things, even had no problem hurting James but not me. Unless, is it… is it playing with its food?!

This is getting frustrating. "Why are you prolonging this? Just get it over with." It tilts its head in confusion. "What, forgot how to attack?" Its eyes widen and start shaking its head. "You don't want to hurt me?" I say confusingly. It nods its head this time.

Well, that's a relief, good to know I'm not dying tonight- wait! "Did you just reply?" I must be hallucinating but it replies yes by nodding its head again. I'm in disbelief, "You… you can understand me?"

He nods then looks down back at the untouched first aid kit, then at my shoulder. I look at my shoulder and see that blood is starting to seep through my hand. It really wants to help me.

I lean forward and use my left hand to grab the kit and place it on my lap while my right hand is still covering the wound. Before I open the box, I look at the experiment one more time. He still hasn't moved and doesn't seem to show any indication of getting up anytime soon. I take a deep breath and open the kit, here we go.

"Experiment is back in its cell, it's safe for you to come back now James."

"Roger, I'll be there in a few minutes" I close my com and look back at the cell. He's sitting on his bed, cross-legged, just as I asked him to.

I don't think James is going to believe me when I tell him how I got him back into his cell. When I finished patching and cleaning myself up, I told the experiment that the reason I was here was to get him back into his cell and he seemed eager to get back in there. After a while of both of us awkwardly pacing, trying not to scare each other I guess, he walked into the cell with no problem.

The damaged lights above the medical bed grab my attention as they begin to flicker. I grab one of the stools, push the bed out of the way and place the stool under the damaged light. I step on the stool and begin fixing the light.

I connect the last wire and the whole lab lights up, "ah, much better." I put the light back on its place and then jump down.

I walk to the front of the cell and see that the experiment is still sitting on the bed, facing me. He stares at me and I shift in my spot uncomfortable. "uh, I'm Jenny by the way. Jenny 10." He doesn't respond. I open my mouth to say something, but the lab door slides open and in comes James.

He looks around the lab before setting his eyes on me. "Great job, Jenny. To be honest, I was expecting a much bigger mess."

I shake my head and smile. He stands next to me and looks into the cell. I turn my head the same direction and notice that the experiment is in the same spot but now his back is to us.

"Well, I better start cleaning up the place. Care to help?"

"Sure."

After cleaning up the lab, it looks back to the way it was before. James is sitting at the computer that's at the opposite side of the cell, near where the first aid kit was hanging. It looks like his updating the results from his latest testing.

I look over at the cell and see that he still hasn't moved, his back is still facing me.

"Has he ever talked?" James looks at me confused, "I mean shown you any understanding on what we're saying?"

"No. The whole time it's been here it never showed any sign on communicating, or…" He looks over at the experiment annoyed, "just doesn't want to."

"What do you mean."

"This experiment could be the key to winning this war but no matter what, it refuses to obey." He turns back to the computer and opens up a file. "Doctor Monagan, the creator, was the only one able to splice human and insect genes." The file contains an image of the doctor along with log notes dating back a few years. "This labs job is to figure out the genetic code he used to create the weapons but all we have are only a few of the notes that were saved after the fire and that uncontrollable experiment.

"Once we've unlocked the code and figure out how to control them, we can engineer the perfect army that'll end this war."

"That sounds… great." I feel unsure.

James looks at the computer screen, looking proud then shuts it off. "Well, thank you, Jenny, for helping not get in trouble by Hamilton and hopefully I won't need your help in the future."

Oh, that's it? "Right, uh, see you around I guess." James begins typing on the computer and I start heading to the door.

This can't be it. I can't explain it, but I don't want to go back to the way things were, especially finding out that I know there is more to the experiment than the scientist who is studying him do.

Before I open the door, I look to my left and notice the blood-spinning machine is an older model. That's not good, normally I ensure all labs have up to date fully operating machines. I look to my right and notice a few other testing machines that are out-dated, and one seems to be broken. Wait, their equipment is outdated!

"Your equipment is out-dated!" James jumps from my shout, spins around and looks at me quizzically. "Since I wasn't allowed in this lab before all your equipment needs fixing but now, I can come in every day and fix it all."

James beams up happy, "your right! Ever since the rest of the team, especially the technician, were temporary called away I haven't been able to make much progress."

"Great." I look at the time on my wrist com, "I have something planned this afternoon, but I can come in tomorrow afternoon to get started."

"That's great, I'll see you tomorrow."

"Bye." I wave and finally exit the lab. I still don't know why I want to keep seeing the experiment but now I have a perfect plan without getting into trouble.

Here we go.

Funny thing is my motivation returned after finally finding and watching an Dex Hamilton and the Doomsday Swarm in English! Wow, after years of trying to find it, it happened and now I feel like I must complete this.

Hope you enjoy,
