Tsugaru stared curiously up at Izaya, he sat quietly leaning against a pillow drooling over his tiny fingers. Since a few days ago Izaya had been acting slightly different then usual, but in his child-like mind he couldn't work out what happened.

Shizuo grumbled, watching Izaya mop about and sigh every five minutes was beginning to take a toll on him as well. He could see that the interaction with Izaya's dad was weighing heavy on both their minds.

But it was affecting Izaya more than anyone.

"Come on Izaya, I know your upset, but we can work this out ok." Shizuo placed his hands on his shoulders and brought him into a hug, gently running his fingers through his hair.

"I know, but I just don't know what to think." Izaya gripped the front of Shizuo's shirt, his voice was starting to shake. "Why now?"

. . . . . . . . . . .

The man that stood before him was tall, had black hair and looked a lot like him. he had what seemed like a friendly smile on his face. But his eyes didn't show it.

"So, what have you been doing?" he said.

Izaya paused, his hands gripped tightly into fists, "fine."

"Good, good." He nodded.

Silence.

Izaya couldn't look him in the face, he could feel the piercing gaze staring straight at him.

"You know, we're having a nice dinner this coming weekend to celebrate your sister's birthday, they'd really like it if you came." You could hear the sharpness in his tone.

"I-I'll come." Izaya managed to choke out. He still didn't want to look at him.

"Excellent," he pulled out his phone. "I'll pick you up at six on Saturday. Be ready."

With that, he left.

Izaya left out a shaky breath, then stumbled his way out of school, towards his home.

. . . . . . . . . . . .

Shizuo hadn't gotten the full details of what happened that day. But it was obviously affecting Izaya. So, he'd wait until he was ready to talk and comfort him until then. Since it's Friday, he could do that all night.

"Da!" a high-pitched noise came from the crib, breaking the boy's attention from each other. Tsugaru, who was sitting up now, held his arms out with grabby hands.

A smile graced Izaya's face as he left Shizuo's arms and walked over to the baby, picking him up and holding him.

"Da!" Tsugaru placed a chubby hand over Izaya's mouth, making him smile more.

"Hungry?" Shizuo broke the silence.

"Yeah, time for dinner." Izaya turned to him.

They both headed downstairs towards the dining area.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Saturday morning had been an eventful time.

First Izaya spent it tossing and turning, making Shizuo wake up grumpy, though he tried not to complain to much about it. Then Tsugaru woke up crying, to which Izaya came to his rescue, fed, and changed him.

From there came the rush of breakfast and getting the children to get their morning routines done. Shizuo had pretty much gotten used to playing with kids at this point, he really did enjoy his time with them. Izaya just spent the morning trying to keep as busy as possible, but the more he did the more he thought.

Then lunch came around, nap time and before they really knew it, it was already five o-clock. The couple had agreed that Shizuo will take Tsugaru to his house until Izaya was finished dealing with his family, to which he'd spent the night at Shizuo's house.

Izaya finished packing Tsugaru's things, zipping up the bag and handing it to Shizuo, who was holding Tsugaru on his hip. "alright that's everything. Still remember how to burp him after feeding?"

"Yeah, I remember," Shizuo flashed a smile, slinging the bag over his shoulder.

Izaya kissed Tsugaru on the cheek, taking hold of his hand. He looked at Shizuo giving a sad smile. Shizuo leaned in, kissing him soft and slowly, slipping his tongue in and pulling him close. Izaya kissed back, hand on his cheek. It was sexual, it was just a kiss to help make him feel better.

They pulled apart; a string of saliva connected their lips until it broke. Shizuo rested his forehead to Izaya's, making him whimper.

"It's gonna be ok. I'll be waiting for you to come back ok, we'll both be waiting," Shizuo whispered, kissing his forehead.

"Yeah, ok," Izaya gave a weak smile.

Shizuo turned, opened the door and left, waving to Izaya as he headed down the road towards his house. Izaya closed the door, resting his head against it. He took a deep breath and heading up to his room, getting ready.

. . . . . . . . . . . .

"Nii-san," Kasuka stood in Shizuo's doorway, watching him play.

"Yeah?" Shizuo was focused on playing videogames, Tsugaru was sitting in his lap, chewing on a plastic toy, Izaya had said he was teething so he needed something hard to bite.

"Mum said that she'd bring dinner home, what do you want?"

"Something with meat," he didn't take his eyes off the screen.

"Ok." With that, he walked away.

It was past six now, so Izaya was probably having dinner now. Shizuo was more than worried about it from the last few times he had to interact with his parents. Before it was only one of them, now there's two.

He grimaced; I hope he's ok.

"Bu!" Tsugaru held out his toy, making Shizuo snap out of his thoughts, he paused his game and looked down.

"you want me to take it?" he placed the controller down and held Tsugaru's hand.

"Buu," Tsugaru placed the toy back into his mouth again, giggling. It made Shizuo smile.

Kasuka walked back into the room, he sat down next to Shizuo who had continued playing. "I still can't believe mum let you keep a baby here."

"yeah, it was surprising. But I'm happy she wasn't against it." Shizuo said. "what time did mum say she'd be home?"

"In twenty minutes."

"Just in time to give you a bath." He looked down at Tsugaru and smiled. He handed his controller to Kasuka who took over playing. He stood up, walking over to the baby bag and grabbed a blue onesie. Shizuo headed to the bathroom. "alright, let's get you cleaned up."

. . . . . . . . . . . .

Uncomfortable.

Super uncomfortable.

Izaya picked at his food as the two parents and twins chatted happily, enjoying the dinner. He was being completely ignored but the adults, Mairu and Kururi were trying to talk to him, but the parents would steer the conversation away before he had the chance to say something, earning fierce glares from the parents.

"How are you enjoying your martial arts class?" Shiro asked.

"Oh! It's good, I'm learning to fall properly!" she beamed.

"It's nearly time for cake so finish up." Kyoko smiled.

"Okay!" both girls said.

Izaya just sank further into his chair. Why bother coming if he wasn't going to be acknowledged? Stupid father! Stupid mother!

"Izaya! Sit up straight!" Shiro snapped.

Izaya flinched, siting up again, "yes sir."

He was hoping that all he had to do was finish dinner then leave, but this is proving to be difficult. The adults and the twins had left to the living room where Kyoko brought out the cake. Shiro had told Izaya to take care of the dishes since it was his duty to his sisters. He didn't fight it and stacked the dishes and began cleaning them. From the living room he could hear the cheerful song 'Happy Birthday!" being sung.

It stung more than it should. He didn't want to stay here anymore. He wanted to go home, go back to the comforting arms of Shizuo, be kissed on the forehead and be told that everything is going to be alright.

"Why aren't you finished yet?" Kyoko's shrill voice snapped. He turned around and was met with angry eyes. "useless boy, can't even do normal chores correctly. We welcomed you in and this is how you repay us? By half heartedly doing something easy? Pathetic."

Izaya's bottom lip trembled.

"Now, now Kyoko, he just needs to learn how to do it the right way." Shiro walked into the kitchen. "the girls are watching their favourite show right now, I think you should join them."

"Alright dear," she walked past him and into the living room.

Shiro glared down at Izaya. He folded his arms and stayed silent.

And now Izaya was truly scared.

"Want to explain to me why you made my wife upset?"

Silence.

"I said explain!" his voice raised.

"I-I didn't do anything." He trembled.

"Obviously, you weren't doing anything when we asked you to do those dishes, and you weren't doing them."

Izaya gulped. "why are you doing this? I'm your son!"

"You lost that privilege when you almost killed my wife." Shiro's face darkened, he marched up to Izaya and reared his fist back, slamming his fist into Izaya's stomach. Izaya crumpled to the ground, he couldn't breathe, coughing and splattering. Tears formed in his eyes as he gripped his stomach.

"Leave! And if you ever come back, I'll make sure you never see the light of day again." Shiro growled.

Izaya struggled to his feet, slowly regaining his breathe, stumbled to the front door, and left. He heard his sisters asking why he was leaving, but the parents just brushed it off.

Tears spilling out. He tried his best to wipe the away, but they just kept coming. He felt cold, so cold. Why was this happening?

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Finally got a great idea for this story. Sorry for taking so long as well, I haven't given up on it yet. Was just trying to think of an idea for it.

Also, this story is going to end soon. Won't be for a while but it's coming to a close soon, I'd say in about 6 or 7 chapters, maybe more, but around that time.

Until next chapter.
