Written for OQ Happy Ending Week, Day 6 - AU Happy Ending.

Finally, after more than a year I wrote an epilogue to my first OQ multi-chapter fic! I really hope you'll like it!

(...)

Regina sits down on the bench in front of Storybrooke's high school and glances down at her watch. If Emma was not mistaken, Henry's lessons end in about five minutes. It makes her sigh in relief – she was so afraid she wouldn't be able to make it on time.

Taking a look around Regina realizes that the town hasn't changed much. Despite the fact that she hasn't been here for more than two years, she can still recognize almost everything. For a moment she wonders if Granny's burgers haven't changed too (she makes a mental note to take Robin there sometime as a celebration of their arrival).

"Mom?"

A shout from behind her snaps her out of her thoughts and Regina stands up from the bench immediately and turns around. Before she has time to look for Henry, the boy is running towards her and soon he's hugging her.

Regina's heart clenches in her chest as she holds her son – he's almost taller than her now, he has grown up so much. All of a sudden these three months apart seem like a much longer time and she feels as though she has missed some very important part in his life.

"What are you doing here?" Henry asks Regina when they pull away from each other.

"Surprise," she says simply, smiling from ear to ear. When Henry smiles back but arches his eyebrow at her in confusion, she explains, "I missed you a lot and I knew that you are very busy so I didn't ask you to come visit me. I came here myself instead."

Henry looks at her for a moment but then his smile widens. "I'm so glad you're here," he hugs her again, and Regina cannot help but feel herself relax a bit. After parting, they sit down on the bench where a few moments ago Regina was sitting.

"How long will you be here?" Henry asks, curiously.

"Forever."

The teenager's eyes widen in surprise or shock, or maybe both. "What?"

Regina exhales and admits, "I missed you a lot. Life without you is hard and I cannot be happy when my son is away." She smiles sadly and continues, "Leaving you was the biggest mistake I've made in my whole life. So from now on I'll always be by your side."

Henry stares at her, his mouth opening and closing in surprise and she feels tears filling her eyes. She promised herself that she'll not cry but when her not-so-little prince wraps his arms around her again, she cannot control herself anymore.

If it was up to Regina, she would never let him go.

Henry stays in her embrace for much longer this time but when he finally pulls away, her heart still aches.

"Where is Robin and Roland?" Henry asks then, his face turning into a frown. "I hope you guys didn't break up."

She cannot help but smile at Henry's words. Her boy liked Robin from the very first moment they've met and it turned out that he and Roland got along quite nicely (Roland announced to the whole kindergarten that he had an older brother now). On a few occasions Henry has mentioned that he's glad Regina has Robin in her life, her son was glad even though Robin was one of the reasons why she had to stay away from him.

"We didn't break up," Regina assures him, shaking her head. "Robin managed to find a new job not too far away from Storybrooke so we will live here from now on."

"You're serious?" Henry asks, his voice full of surprise, eyes widening.

"Of course I am!"

Before she knows it, Henry is hugging her again. When he presses his face into her shoulder, her t-shirt becomes wet and she realizes that he's crying. Tears collect in her own eyes and she wonders for the millionth time what did she think when she decided to leave him here.

He'll always be the most important person in her life, not matter what happens.

Henry pulls away, apologizing as he quickly wipes a few tears away from his cheeks and Regina does the same. Then she manages a smile, even though her eyes are still teary, the lump is still in her throat.

"I would like you to stay with us for a while, if you want to." She says, clearing her throat. "We've lost so much time already and I don't want to miss anything else in your life."

Henry nods his head immediately, a huge smile spreading across his face.

Regina smiles too – she's never been so glad to be home.

(…)

Their walk home is slow and easy, they make small talk about little things, and Henry admits that there's this girl, Violet from Camelot, whom he likes a lot. His cheeks turn pink as he says that and Regina feels her own cheeks heating from the realization that her little boy is not so little anymore.

She doesn't say anything about it, though, only manages a smile and asks him to tell her more (she makes a mental note to find everything about this Violet).

However, when they walk past the Gold's shop, she stops. Henry stops talking and turns around, looks at her with an arched eyebrow.

For a moment Regina hesitates, but then she inhales and asks, "Can you wait for me here, please?"

Henry stares at her in confusion and after what feels like forever he nods his head, no questions asked.

Finding all the courage she has in herself, Regina turns around and makes her way to the shop.

Not much has changed inside. It stayed the same, just like the rest of Storybrooke. Her eyes catch a photo frame of Rumple, Belle and Gideon (Henry told her on his last visit that Rumple and Belle finally had a baby), all smiling, hugging one another, and she thinks that she's not the only one who finally found happiness.

Rumple emerges from the room behind the shop, his eyes widening in surprise when he sees Regina. He recovers quickly though, and smirks, then fakes a bow, "Your Majesty."

Regina rolls her eyes at him but deep down she's glad to see the bastard. It should be a little bit awkward to talk to him now because the last time they saw one another she asked him to crush her heart, and he did it. However, she doesn't feel the tension, nothing. It feels like old times.

"To what do I owe the honor?"

"I came back," she states, coming to stand right in front of him. "And I wanted to thank you."

"Thank me?" he asks, smirk still in place but his voice gives away his confusion.

"You cursed me and I couldn't kill myself. It made me furious for so many years but now I feel thankful. If I had ended my life back then, I would have never had Henry, I would have never fallen in love with Robin and I would have never known what true happiness feels like."

Something changes in Rumple's demeanor, his eyes soften but only for a moment and then he's back to his annoying self. He has a sassy come-back, Regina's sure, so she continues before he has a chance to open his mouth, "But that's not the only reason why I am here. Something happened to me and I thought maybe you would know what it all means."

"I'm listening."

"I'm pregnant," Regina says, her voice turning so quiet, she wonders if Rumple even heard her. But the smirk is gone from his face and he looks like he's thinking about something, so Regina continues, "I cursed myself, you know that, Rumple, and now I'm pregnant. Nine weeks already."

For a long moment he says silent, looking at her and then down to her flat belly and she wonders what he's thinking. Finally he surprises her by saying, "Congratulations, Regina. It seems that your true love was powerful enough to break the curse."

Regina swallows hard and finally voices her fears, "I'm afraid that the baby will not live."

"May I?" Rumple stretches his hand out and Regina nods her head despite the fact that she doesn't like the idea of him near her unborn child. As soon as his hand is rested on her belly, Regina focuses on his face, trying to study every reaction, every eyebrow lift, every inhale and exhale. He seems emotionless for a while but then he finally smiles, "The baby will live."

Regina lets out a breath she didn't know she was holding and smiles widely. She nods her head, whispers a 'thank you' and turns around to walk towards the door. When she reaches for the handle, however, Rumple says, "Your daughter has magic, Regina."

"I know," she replies before opening the door and walking out of the shop.

(…)

"Henry!" Roland squeals as soon as the older boy closes the front door behind himself. The younger boy runs into the hallway and basically jumps on Henry in his excitement, making Henry laugh while Robin admonishes him for attacking Henry like that.

When Roland finally pulls away from Henry, Robin shakes the teenager's hand as they exchange smiles and Regina's heart melts - their relationship is the most precious thing to her.

Not wasting a single moment, Roland drags Henry upstairs, wanting to show him his new room. Robin looks at Regina and shrugs his shoulders, ready to apologize but she just chuckles and follows the boys up the stairs.

While Roland is showing Henry his room and new toys, Regina sits on the edge of the bed, stares at the two of them feeling warmth all over herself. She wonders what it will be like to live in a house with two boys and a little girl. It will definitely be a challenge, but no doubt a good one.

This thought reminds Regina that she yet has to tell Robin about the little surprise she found out about a few weeks ago. An idea hits her and she clears her throat, getting the boys attention.

"Henry, would you mind spending the evening with Roland while Robin and I take a walk in the moonlight?" she asks and Robin looks at her surprised and confused. Henry nods his head immediately, Roland claps his hands in excitement while Robin just stares at her, making Regina grin.

(…)

"A walk in the moonlight, huh?" Robin asks, holding Regina's hand tightly in his, as they make their way through the wide main street of Storybrooke. He's smiling from ear to ear and so is Regina, her heart fluttering with excitement.

For a while they walk around the town and Regina tells stories about this town and how she created it, she shows him places that are dear to her heart and Robin listens to every single word that leaves her mouth fascinated.

"I have to tell you something," Regina says when they stop in front of the small lake. Still smiling Robin frowns a bit – he's felt all along that there was something more behind this strange walk in the moonlight. Inhaling shakily, Regina pulls Robin closer and rests his hand on her belly, whispering, "I'm pregnant."

His mouth drops open in surprise as he tries to say something. He stares at her with wide eyes and then manages to say, "But… I thought… I thought that you couldn't."

"True love is the most powerful magic of all," Regina replies with a shrug, a huge smile spreading across her face. It's such a petty phrase, Snow White would probably applaud Regina for it, but in that moment Regina does not care.

"Regina!" Robin shouts and it seems that he's finally snapped out of his shock. He's pulling her into his arm and pressing his lips against her over and over again, laughing and crying at the same time, and Regina thinks that she'll remember this moment for the rest of her life.

When the excitement finally dies down, they sit down on the bench and she tells him everything she knows. She tells him that they are expecting a girl and that their baby has magic, strong and powerful magic and that it will be a struggle to deal with it and teach their girl how to use it, but Robin assures that he's ready to face all of this.

"I love you so much, Regina," Robin whispers against her lips then and kisses her again and again, his arm wrapped securely around her, holding her close. He pecks her lips and nose and forehead and cheeks and then lips again, all the while telling her that she's made him so happy. "People say home is where the heart is and my heart is with you, forever. You are my future, Regina, and I'll never stop loving you."

Regina has to blink her eyes repeatedly, trying to stop the tears from falling down her cheeks but she fails. Robin's thumbs wipe the drops immediately, asking softly, "What is it?"

"I just never thought I would have this," she admits and Robin pulls her into his arms immediately.

"Me too, Regina, me too," he whispers and nuzzles into his face into her hair, his now wet cheeks touching her neck.

Regina Mills has never thought she could be this happy. When she adopted Henry, for the first time in years she felt alive again. She was happy and excited and she didn't even have time to think about relationships or her lost lover. When things got worse, she didn't think she could ever be happy again. But here she is – happy, in the arms of the man who makes her heart flutter with affection every time she thinks about him, two lovely boys waiting for her at home and a little miracle on her way to meet them.

She finally has a family that loves her despite all of her flaws and darkness that still surrounds her.

"So that's it?" Robin asks after a long while of silence. His arms tighten around her as he kisses on top of her head and adds, "Is this our happy ending?"

"I hate endings," Regina says, pulling away from him so she can look into his eyes. "I think it's our happy beginning. We went through so much together and I'm pretty convinced that there are still many adventures ahead of us." Robin nods his head, and she continues, "But I think nothing can tear us apart. You didn't run away when I revealed that I was from another land and had magic, you didn't leave me when I said I cheated on you, you saved my life, literally breaking your heart in two. All of this proved to me that we are able to survive everything."

"Together."

I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who read, reviewed, favorited and followed this story! It means the world to me that you liked it!

I know that this story is not the best and that the writing style isn't good, and let's not even talk about the grammar, but I still am very proud of it! I put so much work and thought into it, and it will forever hold a special place in my heart (that's one of the reasons why I waited to long to write an epilogue - I just didn't want to finish this fic completely). Knowing that you liked it too makes so very happy! I feel blessed that this story received so much love!

If anyone ever wants to see more of this story, you can always send me a prompt here or on tumblr (my username there is the same), and I'll be more than happy to write it!

So that's it.

Again, thank you so much for your support! You guys are the best!
