AN: So I suppose here comes chapter 3! Not much to say here except I don't exactly know where I wanna go with this just yet so bare with me, okay? Hopefully I wont butcher this by being unsure haha
Ryuko awoke a few hours late, suddenly no longer on the couch, but in fact alone, in what was now her own bed. She felt weirdly cold and alone, quite juxtaposed to the feeling of safe warmth she had felt sat next to Satsuki watching TV.
Wait, she had been watching TV with Satsuki… so how did she get in her bed and where was the taller beauty? Ryuko sat up, glancing at the digital clock on the bedside cabinet. The glaring green numbers announced that it was 3:28. Ah. Satsuki was, most likely, in bed and getting a good nights sleep like the diligent student she was, much like Ryuko ought to be doing now. Ryuko shook her head, sliding back down into the comfort of her warm bed covers and letting the sleep take her till morning.
An annoying buzzing sound roused Ryuko from her slumber, frustrating her beyond belief as she was not used to such a strong sound waking her in the morning. She flung an arm out from the covers of her duvet where it had been warmly tucked in, flailing in the direction of the sound until her hand made contact with something and made a distinct crack sound. Ryuko pulled her hand back, grunting at having broke whatever the item was. Clearly if it had not been able to withstand her strength then it was not worth keeping.
She retracted her arm under the covers again, snuggling back into the plush warmth. The bed reminded her of Satsuki's, all softness and warmth. It wasn't quite the same though, not quite as soft and it lacked the scent of the other woman… Not that Ryuko had already memorized her smell, no, that would have been a bit weird if she had.
Although Ryuko had to admit that she often times smelled like a mixture of roses and her sweet lemon tea she drank to calm down…
Again, not that Ryuko had memorized as such or often smelt her whenever she was near or anything. Ryuko wriggled a bit uncomfortably at the idea, struggling to get back to sleep now as the black haired woman invaded her thoughts.
She wasn't sure why she couldn't shake Satsuki from her head, picturing her long tresses and how soft they would feel running between her fingers, how smooth and soft the skin of her cheeks would feel under Ryuko's touch, how plump and warm her lips would feel pressed against her own… hold on… was she thinking about…kissing Satsuki Kiryuin?! She couldn't possibly be, no, Ryuko reasoned that she was having some kind of mental break and that it was simply an analysis of her enemy, nothing more.
Blush heating her cheeks, Ryuko pulled the covers up over her head and twisted her face into the pillow below her, screaming into it faintly to clear her mind of the weird gross thoughts rattling around. It worked fairly well, but left her wondering why she was having these thoughts as she managed to recall a few other times she'd had similar thoughts in the last day… And even upon seeing Satsuki for the first time now that she really thought about it.
Was she possibly… attracted to Satsuki? Could she even be? The woman was her enemy… wasn't she? Ryuko pushed the thoughts aside, she wasn't ready to deal with this, she was tired, had just woken up, she had school today and- Crap! She had school! She was going to be late if she didn't move now! Ryuko darted up from the bed, throwing off her clothes, leaving them to stay where they fell on the floor as she quickly slipped Senketsu on and dashed out the door, locking it behind her as she had been instructed to do by Satsuki.
Ryuko quickly slipped down the hall, silent in her movements, sure that Satsuki would be awake and have left the apartment already but still deciding to air on the side of caution just in case. She made it to the end of the hall and was surprised to note that Satsuki was sat at the pristine kitchen counter, book in hand, tea in front of her as usual and a bowl of what Ryuko could only guess was cereal in front of her.
"Ah, Ryuko, Good morning," Satsuki said without moving, a semi cheerful lilt to her voice. Ryuko briefly registered thinking it was adorable before she swept the thought away to stay with the others she didn't have any time for currently.
"Shit Kiryuin, how the fuck d'ya do that?" Ryuko asked, face just barely showing her surprise and admiration that the woman was talented enough to immediately be aware of her presence.
"Skill Matoi. And plenty of training," She said, finally sparing a glance over her shoulder at Ryuko, a level smile on her face betraying a lack of actual emotion as Ryuko noted that the smile was not, in fact, genuine, "Training that you will eventually undertake," She finished, turning back to her breakfast and her book. Ryuko took that in for a moment, shocked, before shaking her head.
"I'd expect no less that you'd already be tryin' to 'train'," Her hands flew up in loose air quotes as she spoke the word, well aware that even if she wasn't looking, Satsuki would know she had made them, "me like one of your fuckin' monkeys. Coulda at least given me a grace period of 24 hours to get settled here though first, couldn't ya?" Ryuko grinned a large wolfish grin, eyes flashing with challenge as Satsuki finally turned her head, making eye contact with her again.
A smirk crossed her lips (a genuine one this time which Ryuko was glad for) and a dry chuckle escaped her lips.
"Grace period? What do you take me for Matoi? Some lazy Pig?" She asked rhetorically, turning once again back to her food and book. Ryuko chuckled to herself, shaking her head as she made her way to the kitchen area and reached into the fridge, finding the lemons quickly and easily and grabbing three in her hand. She shut the door heavily, biting into one of the three lemons and snorting as she noticed Satsuki shrivel her nose up in disgust.
"Couldn't you have picked an actual breakfast food to eat Matoi?" She groused, shaking her head before dipping into her bowl with a shiny fork and bringing it up to her mouth with a piece of what Ryuko guessed was watermelon on it. She chewed the food delicately and Ryuko watched intently as she swallowed it, eyes following the subtle movements of the muscles in her neck as they bobbed up and then down. Suddenly her mouth was too dry as she dragged her eyes back up, meeting Satsuki's who only smirked in response. Blushing, Ryuko looked away and took another large bite out of her lemon, trying desperately to distract herself.
Ryuko internally scolded herself for getting carried away staring at Satsuki and for even staring at all, mentally deciding to analyse Satsuki's reaction later as she made her way round the kitchen counter to the front door. She was halted in her movement by Satsuki clearing her throat. Ryuko span round, suppressing her surprise at noting that Satsuki had moved utterly silently to the sink to deposit her bowl and tea cup. She shouldn't have been surprised really, she knew that.
"I have called a driver to escort us to the academy," She stated in an authoritative voice that left no room for objections on Ryuko's behalf. Ryuko simply nodded, taking a deep breath and swallowing down an imaginary lump in her throat. She really hoped that the car ride over wouldn't be too awkward or difficult for her, being in such close proximity to Satsuki.
AN: Soooo trying to shake things up early on, hopefully I'm not pressing forwards too quickly! If I am, then let me know! Either way, hope yall enjoyed :)
