BAY
My sister is in Australia for the next few months, studying to be a doctor, so I decided to do something with my life. It was hard applying to schools, but I was finally accepted into an online college. I take classes every day in between work. I'm studying for an art history degree. After I checked my grades on my midterm (94% by the way!), my sister called from Australia.
"Hey, how's Sydney?" I signed. "Pretty good," she said and signed back. She was sitting outside in a cafe with the opera house in the background. "God, the weather looks so awesome there. I have to come and visit you," I signed. "Yeah, it's pretty nice here. But actually, that's why I'm calling. I uh... I met someone," signed Daphne.
"Oh, better tell J and K (our parents) they should expect another binational grandkid." I meant that as a joke, but something about Daphne's tone made me think that it was a real possibility. "So how long have you been going out?" I asked. "A few weeks," said Daphne. Daphne told me his name was Jim and he was a theatre director. Damn. She td me that she and him were getting pretty serious, but it was too early to tell.
"I better get back to work. I'll call you later," signed Daphne. It had been ten years since we found out about the switch. The Kennish-Vasquez clan endured a lot of ups and downs. Daphne and I fought over a couple guys, we lost a father and two grandmas, a nephew and niece joined the family and we had some trouble with the law (I'd rather not go into too much detail, I'm trying to put that behind me). Yet, despite all that, I felt that Daphne and I had finally entered the adult world. Daphne was gonna graduate and become a doctor when she came home, my nephew, Carlton and my niece, Katie were now ten and 1 and I was finally back in school. Changes happen all the time, but I figured nothing too drastic was happening anytime soon. Daphne sounded serious about this Jim guy, but that's not the first time she's been serious about someone. Like a stereotypical Freeform soap opera, there was a huge twist up ahead.
