Monster SOULS are so cheap and easy to manufacture in comparison to humans'; it's hard to believe such simple creatures as us willingly decide to proceed through the more complicated and lengthened processes of courtship and mating when science and automation can easily be applied to satisfy our reproductive needs.

I've recovered the amalgamate's SOUL from the drain, and I'm keeping it secure in a large barrel along with all it's liquefied bodily essence. The Blasters also appear to be much stronger and with notably much higher stamina levels since the transfer. Curious by this change in demeanor, I've taken the Alpha aside to study it more closely. While doing so, I discovered a... curious detail in their physical design. I have not had the chance to see the amalgamate's SOUL since it's body has broken down, but I took the barrel aside (as the SOUL refuses to part from the body's dissolved fluids), and found the same condition present in it, as well...

This condition... is a fracturing of the SOUL. It's a condition I didn't think was even possible, but somehow it is. I will try to explain the condition in as simple of terms as possible for clarity in this Entry:

The amalgamate's SOUL, likely in an attempt to create a physical form for itself, has been broken into several stable fragments, and each Blaster holds one of these fragments within itself. The rest of the SOUL... is simply void; a dense, high concentration of magical energy fills the void of the missing area and keeps the SOUL complete, thus keeping it from completely shattering to dust. The Alpha blaster has approximately 40% of the amalgamate's SOUL held in it's body, while the Beta Blasters usually have 0.5-2% of the parent SOUL within themselves. This staggering difference in SOUL concentration must be what keeps the Alpha alive; the Betas don't have enough stable energy to keep themselves alive without quite literally bathing themselves in magic every 10 minutes, but the Alpha is able to take resting periods that recover the loss of energy and keep it alive.

The most curious part of this observation is... the magic that fills the void of their SOULs is my own. All the energy I poured into the attempts to build a human SOUL have instead... created a new life. An incomplete one, perhaps, but there's no denying that the Blasters are, indeed, alive.

I now now, for certain, that I can build a monster's SOUL, and I know what I must do to do it. Determination is an unstable element that I currently cannot control, but monsters do not need Determination to live. Once the SOUL is built, I'll then provide biomatter for the SOUL to attach to. With time, I can grow and manipulate the biomatter to create a body for the SOUL to use. A new monster will be born, and an heir will be mine.

Finally, I've been able to get through to the lead engineer that helped with building the CORE and I now have the SOUL intrusion machine fully operational once again. Curiously enough as she was completing the repairs she placed a few automatic limiters in its inner workings. She stated that it's to "keep the beam from getting too strong and overloading the inner mechanisms, which is what seems to have caused the previous meltdown". The only problem with this is now the intrusion beam itself is so weak it can barely cut through a sheet of aluminum foil, let alone the HOPE of a SOUL...

Thankfully, I was able to get a hold on one of her apprentices shortly after, and she was able to provide an override for the limiters. I also had her rewire one of the lab's mobile monitors so it's easier to watch the machine's status when I'm ņo͞t ͘be̡h͏ind̸ ͘th͘e o̶p̨ȩr͟at̷ing scr̢een.̧ I would have had Alphys do it since she has similar technological prowess, but I'd rather keep her away from the machine for the time being. I'd rather her not be involved in wh̀at ̷I̸'͝m ̴n҉e͏x͝t̵ ̵ab͟out ̨to̴ d̴o̴.
