"How are things going with the IRS?" Ana asks him not wanting to talk about her mother yet.
"They are still trying to work out that account that we are sure Elena had set up, the signature for that one is different to the signature I have for all the other GEH, and our own personal bank accounts that are stored at the bank, sadly so far Taylor and Welch are struggling to find where the person is that so called approved the file, they are now thinking that it is a fake name. Dad along with one of the IRS workers have filed paperwork with the bank to get the paperwork in regards to it and all over information. Dad has said everything else is in order it's just this one bank account that is causing a few issues."
"Oh well lets hope they can get it sorted."
"Me too, but on another note, there was a meeting first thing this morning at SIP, we informed them all of the major overhaul that is happening, and that notices of termination of contracts are going to be sent out over the next few days."
"That can't be easy for you to deal with."
"In one way no I hate it, but in another they aren't performing. We got the same thing happening at GEH as well starting next week. We got Jim coming in from our hotel in Portland, and he is going to go through us, he now also has an extra job on top of his hotel, Ros had to sweet talk him into coming down here and then suggest that he could maybe do it on other business for us, he has a bloody good head on him to be honest and Ros wants to make sure he stays under us, she has something up her sleeve again not sure what it is."
"You trust her don't you." she asks him, after seeing the odd look on his face.
"Always that is why she is who she is for me at work. Prefer you but Ros is just as bloody good as you. But Carla, what do you want to do about that."
"Well to be honest I was only a child in it all, yes I was involved but what went on in court and all the legal stuff that is between Dad and Carla. But one thing is I don't want to give her any money, and I prefer to not have to bother dealing with her. I know she is my mother but Grace has shown me what a true mother is what a caring loving mother is meant to act like, We know mine has never put me before herself. My graduation was a prime example, then when she found out of our marriage, it was all about her, and then wanting us to pay for them to come and visit. I'm happy to just leave our dad's to sort out Carla and whatever it is she wants from us."
"Anyway we better go out and talk to the others." Christian says as the two leave and head to the lounge.
As they walk out they find the rest of the family in the lounge.
"Look I need to head into work, Carrick, I don't want to be involved in whatever Carla has up her sleeve. What happened back when dad got custody of me really has nothing to do with me, but we all know she doesn't put me before herself. And Christian no I am not working from home today, I have two important meetings with authors that I must keep." Ana says as she goes about picking up her last few items she needs and calls out to Sawyer to be ready to leave in five minutes.
"You sure about this?" Christian asks her, she knows he is meaning more than just going to work.
"Yes I am, I don't need to be a part of whatever Carla is up to this time around. And since it concerns me going to live with Ray, those two can sort it all out. DO you know how things are going with Jason and the courts?" She asks, deciding to change the subject.
"Shit that reminds me I rung Hannah and informed her on my way back home that you will need Friday cleared, he is in court that day, they have a pre court day tomorrow so the judge can go over everything and then Friday is where he will ask more questions and if he needs anything before Friday he has a chance to ask for it, and we may be needed in court." Ana is pissed he didn't tell her and just instructed Hannah to clear her Friday schedule but the reason for it she just can't be pissed at him because tis Jason and what its for is so much more important than her picking a fight with him over something this small.
"I hope you told Carrick that we will do whatever we need to do so he gets full custody."
"Yes I did."
"Good" Ana says as she kisses on the lips, Christian deepens the kiss not caring who sees them kissing right now.
"Time for me to go, enjoy your day working from home." Ana says as she walks towards the elevator, with Sawyer following behind.
But before Ana can leave she hears Christians mobile go off and a quick can you what a minute before he answers the call. The way he asks her to wait, she knows it's important as well.
She sees him looking at her oddly, and then she remembers shit she didn't tell him about the email she sent out this morning.
"Ana, I think this has to do with you, it's Miss Appleton from our restaurant Blueeye Steak." He says as he passes his phone over to her, the look on his face she knows she needs to explain to him what she has done.
"Miss Appleton what can I do for you today."
"I was talking to Mr Grey, not to you."
"Mr Grey has put you on to me as I am presuming your phone call directly to his mobile is due to the email I sent out today."
"Yes it is, and as that email came from GEH and not yourself I would like to continue talking to Mr Grey so I can figure out why I was fired."
"Miss Appleton, I am a part of GEH and can send out emails to our employers as I see fit, and as the email came from me you need to talk to me not Mr Grey."
"Mrs Grey I do not mean to be rude here but GEH belongs and is owned and run by Mr Grey, and in my contract states only GEH can fire me, not you, so I am wanting to talk to him in why he has broken my contract with GEH in getting you to fire me. My lawyer has already informed me it is a breach of contract by you doing it."
"Miss Appleton, I am not just Mrs Grey, Mr Grey Wife, I am also noted down on the corporation papers filed with the state, under my maiden name Steele, and as you should be well aware of Mr Grey has Miss Bailey who can also fire people, as well as so can I, the letter sent to you was on official GEH letterhead, it had my name and signature on the bottom, as a co owner of Grey Enterprise Holdings I am entitled too and allowed to fire anyone I see fit."
"Well there is no explanation on why you have fired me which is required by law."
"Law in fact does not state that when a termination letter is given that the reason for termination has to be given."
"Then please explain to me why I have been fired from my position that I have held for the last eight years, five of those before GEH purchased the business."
"You were fired over how you handle those coming in looking for work, and offering them positions that do not meet their qualifications."
"Who I hire and how I hire is my business."
"No it is not, it is mine GEH business and when they come to use asking why their qualifications have been passed over and they have been offered jobs in areas they have no training, then we must look into this."
"Bloody Mia Grey." She says quality not knowing that Ana has heard this.
"Miss Grey was the last straw, Miss Appleton. When she came to me mentioning what had happened, I did more checking and found she wasn't the first one to go in hand over their CV and you decide they should be doing something else."
"Mrs Grey, Mia is better suited to the front of house role, that is where she should not be in the kitchen. Just because she comes from a rich family doesn't mean she can get into my kitchen all that easily, by faking her resume."
"Well for your knowledge Miss Appleton her resume is not fake, she did go to France and train under the best there is over there, all paid for by my husband and I. But it seems all you guys see is Mia Grey who could bring more people in, make more money. You do not see a young lady who is trying to make her way in a world where men rule, I know for a fact she wasn't asking for the head chief position but a kitchen hand, which I know for a fact 2 of the young guys working in your kitchen have no formal training at all, so explain to me why her formal training is no good but those two young men are better than her?" Ana asks, Christians watch on. He has a fear idea of what the hell is going on now. Nothing is said to Ana about what she has just pointed out.
"As I expected you see a pretty face, one from wealth and just presume she is only working because she is made to work by her parents, so you give her a front of house role where she can look pretty and not do much but meet and greet, where she wont have to get her hands dirty at all, well sadly you were wrong to presume that, and that is why you got the letter via email this morning. IF your lawyer wants more information please have him get in touch with Grey and associates Law firm, they can pass on more details of all the things you have done wrong in the last year, all which are fireable offenses. Good day Miss Appleton." Ana says before ending the call.
"What did you do?" Christians ask her.
"I sent termination letters to all five of our restaurant managers this morning."
"Why?"
"Thanks to Mia, I found out that our lovely managers are not doing their jobs properly, the only one not fired was the one from Mile High Club, his reason for not hiring her was that the head Chief was away and that the head chief decided who works in his kitchen, but he took her resume and said he would pass it on, once he was back from holiday. Though I am suspecting by the end of the day she will get a phone call and get a job." Christians just give her a hug, even though Mia has been a problem for them Ana's caring nature for her friend is still there even with the hurt.
"What made you change your mind over her?"
"She rang a few weeks ago complaining about how everyone sees her as front of house no one would employ her even to just wash dishes. I had Hannah ring around and found out that there was a bit more going on with some of our managers, and so I gave them three weeks notice."
"Thanks for looking out for her." he says to her and he lays a kiss on her head.
"She's family, yes she has hurt us, but she is trying, what more can we ask of her?"
"Nothing more than trying." he says they kiss again before she finally leaves to head to work.
