KAIGAN: LINE BREAK!

It has been another two days since Haru and Momo met up in the Division 6 dining hall. He still hasn't seen Renji since he returned with Rukia, though he knows that his promotion to Lieutenant became official. Normally he would be happy about that, as he was for Momo, and even for Izuru when he was appointed to 3rd Seat. But all things considered, he was still mildly depressed about the whole situation.

Rukia gave her Shinigami powers to a human, she wasn't even wearing a standard Shinigami shihakusho when she returned, it was pure white. At least, that's what Momo told him. For that, she was sentenced to death.

Today, he was in his usual spot on the roof of the barracks, flipping through the book that he got once again and unconsciously finding himself back on the page about Miyamoto Musashi. Reading over the feats of the swordsman made him think about his own actions. A man who fought one hundred enemies on his own, but then again, he never fought against Hollows or Shinigami with Zanpakuto. The past couple of days, he kept thinking about going to see Rukia, but that would be a direct violation of his orders from Captain Kuchiki. Even if he took the chance, he wouldn't even be able to go past the guards stationed at holding cells. She's so close yet still so far away.

"I don't have that kind of strength... to fight tooth and nail for what I believe in."

But then Haru was brought out of his thoughts when a large BOOM echoed throughout the Seireitei. It made him jump and drop his book on his face, before knocking it aside onto the roof and looking around to see where it came from. Though he didn't have to look much, as the sight of a shining orb crashing against the barrier around the Soul Society caught his eye. At a distance, it looked like a second sun, but he could tell, it was a projectile. Someone was trying to break through!

"What... is that?" Haru wondered. It was so bright, but he couldn't take his eyes away. He heard reports of intruders trying to break in the other day but heard they were repelled. Could this be the same group of intruders? But who'd be trying to break in? It couldn't be Hollows, they'd have no way of getting through the barrier, especially in a manner like this.

It was then that the light pushed through the barrier and for a moment, stayed absolutely still and fluctuated a bit, but then shot out in a few different directions, arching throughout the entirety of the Soul Society and impacting before disappearing.

The situation hit Haru but it didn't really connect between his brain and his eyes for a moment. It took him a moment to process it, but then he realized that someone actually managed to break through the barrier. The Soul Society had intruders and would be in complete disarray, every Shinigami would be called on to deal with them. But they broke in for a reason. It couldn't be anyone from the Rukongai, though. Sure, there were some Shinigami passing through there, but no one with enough power or gall to try and attack it. Nor would they need to anyway, they could just go through the gate.

As his brain tried to process and come up with an explanation as to what was going on, he came to one conclusion, and only one. Whoever did this was likely the person who Rukia gave her powers to. Did they hear about her execution? But even if they make it past any seated officers, a Lieutenant or a Captain would slaughter them... But they made it this far so they'll likely try anyway. Complete strangers to this place and its laws are willing to put everything on the line to save one person. Haru clenched his hands after he put it all together.

'So what are you going to do? Will you stay here and wait for someone else to do it for you? Or will you take a step and risk everything to save your friend?'

A soft, but confident voice echoed throughout Haru's mind, through his very soul. It was both familiar and completely strange to him as well until he found himself standing at the gate of a temple on a hill. It wasn't an ancient Japanese temple either, it was a bit more modern as it had cement steps leading up the hill to the main temple. Haru looked around briefly before he made his way up the stairs, slowly but surely. It took him a minute, but he found himself at the top and face to face with a young man who couldn't have been more than 18 years old. He wore black tight pants and black boots, along with a kimono-style long sleeve overshirt with a rope belt tied around his waist, a leather woven bracelet, and a necklace hanging down against his chest made up of a bunch of small metal beads in the form of a square. Short bleached brown hair blew in the breeze as the young man smiled softly at the Shinigami.

"You finally made it. It took you a few decades, but it's good to finally meet you face to face Haru Kusonoki." His voice seemed to echo, but he seemed sincere enough i his words. Haru blinked and pointed to himself.

"You know who I am? But who are you? And what is this place?" He asked, confused about the shift from one set of events to the other in such a brief timeframe. The young man chuckled a bit and crossed his arms, leaning forward.

"Come on, Haru. You were able to put together the current situation in the Soul Society so quickly but you can't figure out what's going on right now?"

Haru's eyes suddenly widened as he thought a bit more about it. Suddenly finding himself in a new location, this stranger knowing who he is and being familiar with him. And the phrase 'it took you a few decades'.

"You... are you my Zanpakuto?"

"That's right. My name is _." The boy spoke, but it seemed like no sound came out at the very end, like he was simply mouthing the words. Haru put his finger in his ear and tried to pluck something out as if he had something blocking it. But the boy smiled sadly. "It looks like you still can't hear it. That's a shame."

"But... even so, I have an answer to the first thing you asked." Haru said, making the boy look at him with a questioning look. "I'm not just gonna stand around and let someone else do what I should have started doing weeks ago." Haru looked down at his hands and clenched them once more. Not out of helplessness and despair, but with confidence and determination. "I'm gonna go out there and save Rukia."

"Even if you would be going against orders and without the power of my true name?" He looked back up and nodded to the Zanpakuto spirit, who smiled and stood up, holding his hand out to Haru. "Then when the time comes, hopefully, you'll hear me and use that power to its fullest."

"Yeah, of course." The two shook hands and Haru's vision went white before he realized he was back on the roof of the barracks, and the wooden clacking sound of the alarm was sounding in the distance. With a new fire in his eyes, he picked up his book and stored it in his clothes before jumping using Flash Step to head out in the confusion over towards the holding cells. "Wait for me, Rukia."

Stopping around the corner of one of the buildings of the division, a squad of unseated officers ran past to answer the call to arms and hunt down the intruders. Once he made sure the coast was clear, Haru moved out and rounded the corner, heading towards the proper building. Everyone was in a state of panic, so it made things a bit easier to move around without being noticed. He only stopped every now and then to make sure that nobody would spot him. Once he was absolutely certain, he continued running down the halls of the office.

"If only Shunpo wasn't so tough to stop in these narrow hallways..." Haru muttered to himself.

"And for what reason would you need to use Shunpo in this particular building, Officer Kusonoki?" He heard a stern voice ask. His eyes widened before he stopped in place and turned around to look at a hallway he just passed, where an older male Shinigami was standing tall. He looked to only be a bit taller than Haru, with long raven black hair held back in a ponytail that reached in between his shoulder blades but was still parted in the middle, and cold silver eyes. On his hip was a Zanpakuto with a dull blue cloth wrapped hilt and a plain rectangular tsuba with the pattern of spread wings etched into it.

"8th Seat Karasu Yoshihisa..." Haru knew the man well. He was one of the most disciplined seated officers in the 6th Division, though he was also noted to be a bit TOO disciplined to a fault. Even Byakuya thought the man needed to loosen up a bit, and that was saying something.

"Correct me if I'm wrong, but were you not ordered by Captain Kuchiki to stay away from the holding cells?" The man's glare pierced into Haru's very being. They were like daggers stabbing into his feet and holding him in place. He gulped and looked the man over, standing firmly and keeping a hand on his Zanpakuto, which caught Karasu's attention. "Just so you know, Rukia Kuchiki is no longer within the confines of the 6th Division. They moved her two days ago."

This caught Haru by surprise. How did they move Rukia without him knowing?! Though Byakuya was keeping him busy with his work, and he likely had the flow of information cut off from him, unseated officer or not.

"I wouldn't suppose you would be kind enough to tell me where they moved her, would you?" He asked albeit he knew the answer already.

"That is of no concern of yours. Even if I did tell you, you would simply ignore any further orders like you have today. So I will give you a choice, Officer Kusonoki. Come with me peacefully and await your punishment from our captain. Otherwise, I will take you in by force." The seated officer placed his hand on his Zanpakuto, seemingly ready to use it at a moment's notice.

This was it. The moment Haru's conviction would be put to the test. Sure, he was scared. He was about to fight a member of his own squad, not to mention become a traitor to the Gotei 13 altogether. This single decision would determine his future, but he was prepared for that. The moment he met with his Zanpakuto, he knew what he had to do. And so with a single motion, Haru drew his sword and struck at Karasu. It took a moment for him to regain his composure as he wasn't TRULY prepared for an unseated officer to fight back against him, and in that brief moment with his guard lowered, Haru drew blood. It was a small cut on his cheek, but he managed to land a strike.

"I won't just stand by and let a friend of mine be put to death for saving people's lives! That's what we're meant to do, so it's wrong to execute someone for doing their job! My answer is no, 8th Seat Yoshihisa, no to coming quietly and just accepting things as they are! I'll break through you to get to Rukia. I'll fight a hundred, no, a thousand Shinigami if I have to!" The determination in Haru's eyes was almost entirely visible as a raging inferno. And in his inner world, his Zanpakuto spirit nodded and smiled at the conviction of his master. Karasu regained his composure and drew his sword, getting in a stance with his arms drew back like he was ready to thrust it forward.

"Very well then. I will commend you for not backing down, but in the name of the Gotei 13, I will place you under arrest for treason!"

The wind around his Zanpakuto picked up and swirled. Haru's eyes widened, as he knew what was coming next. He was prepared for it, but so soon? And inside the barracks at that!

"Sever his will, Jinsokuna Setsudan!" The sudden release of air pressure burst forward knocked Haru down the hallway and out through the wall, knocking him into the outer wall surrounding the barracks with debris scattered around him and covering his body with dust. Groaning and getting to his feet with a cough, he looked up and saw Karasu approaching with his released Zanpakuto. It had turned into a long sword, an odachi, with a decorative azure hilt and no guard, though it still had a golden clasp around the base of the blade to keep it connected. With two cords tied to the end, each one having a black feather dangling off the end.

Haru glared and held his sword at the ready. He's never seen this Shikai before, granted he's never seen him in action at all, not even on missions. So he was at a disadvantage.

"I'll make this quick, prepare yourself!" Karasu dashed at Haru, swinging his Zanpakuto down upon the younger Shinigami. He blocked it with his own Zapakuto, but the pressure behind the attack was incredible, it was like they were fighting at completely different levels! And just then, Haru knew the strike was blocked, but he still felt like he was being cut into. Karasu smirked, and suddenly two cuts appeared in Haru's shoulders, spurting out blood. His pupils dilated and he pushed back, gaining some distance with Shunpo. The seated officer smirked and turned in the direction Haru retreated to.

"You seem surprised. I suppose this is the first time you've seen my Jinsokuna Setsudan, correct? Then allow me to explain its ability to you. My Zanpakuto has the ability to manipulate the wind into extra razor-thin blades, essentially turning one slash into three parallel slashes. So even if you block the physical sword, the wind blades will still pass through and continue with their attack." Holding his sword in a traditional kendo stance, Karasu leaped at Haru once again, rearing his sword to the side. He jumped back to dodge the incoming slash and noticed that once the swing connected, two large gashes appeared in the wall next to where he just was.

"What's wrong? I thought you said you were going to fight ONE THOUSAND Shinigami in order to save Rukia Kuchiki. If you can't even defeat me, how are you going to do that? By running away?" His stern demeanor was starting to slip, and a slightly sadistic smile was starting to form on his face. Even his tone was starting to turn from melancholic to gleeful. "Stand your ground and fight, Kusonoki! Otherwise, you're just going to make this all too easy!"

Haru knew he had to run now, this guy was plain crazy! But his feet were frozen again. Not from the stern energy that he was given out, but now because he was bonkers! It looked like he was thrilled to be chasing Haru down and cutting into him! How a guy like this has gone unchecked was insane!

But he knew that he was right. As twisted as it was, he knew he wouldn't be able to rescue Rukia if he couldn't even fight back against the apparent psychopath that was in front of him. He could lay a trap for him using Kido, but would that work for very long? A hit and run strategy might be his best option, but there isn't enough time to set something complicated up!

"Looks like you're in a bit of a jam, Haru."

"You!" Haru heard the voice of his Zanpakuto in his head again. He was so caught up in his thoughts and now hearing the voice that he didn't notice Karasu approaching him quickly again.

"Time's up, Officer Kusonoki!" The seated officer rushed him with a reared back leaping stab, flying at Haru with impressive speeds.

"Now listen closely this time, my name is..."

"Burn brightly..."

"Eh?" Karasu gained a look of surprise on his face, looking at Haru as he approached. The younger Shinigami flipped his sword around, blade facing towards his body and turned it upside down, looking like he was about to commit suicide. "So you realized how outmatched you are and are giving up, huh?!"

But he was met with the same determined look that Haru gave him when he took that first slash. There was no despair in his eyes, but a burning drive to win and beat him.

"Shōmei-tō Yūrei!"

Haru took his blade and drove it into his abdomen. But the blade didn't appear on the other side covered in blood, it sank into his body in a bright shining orange light that illuminated the area and stopped Karasu dead in his tracks, making him cover his eyes in surprise.

"GAH! What is this?!"

The light was so bright that it even glowed above the walls of the 6th division barracks and caught the eye of some of the other Shinigami in the area. It could even be seen from the repentance tower, where Rukia was spending her awaiting days. The light caught her attention and she put her hand to her collar as if she already knew who it was.

"Haru..."

When the light finally died down, Karasu lowered his arm and looked over once more at the younger Shinigami. He stood there now with no weapon in his hand, but some kind of large, clunky belt was attached to his waist. It had orange straps wrapped around his body, with the large front part in the shape of a rounded smokey grey rectangle with... an eye in the center of it. And on the right side was some kind of pull handle. In his right hand was also some kind of orb with protrusions coming out of four corners.

"What the hell? That's your shikai? Some goofy looking belt and a ball?" He seemed disappointed, of course, everybody in the 6th Division knew Haru couldn't use shikai. So when he finally learns in the heat of a battle, it doesn't even have the appearance of a weapon?

"No, this is only the beginning of it." Haru held the ball up in front of him, putting his thumb on a protrusion on the side. Upon closer inspection, it looked like a large eyeball. And pushing his thumb into it, the center of it flipped down to reveal a new side with the large letter G in the center of it. Bringing his left hand down to the top center of the belt, he pushed another button, which caused the front part of the belt to swing down and cause a ghostly pulsing sound to echo throughout the area. Bringing the eyeball object into the center of the belt and pushing it in securely, he swung the front portion of the belt back into place, stopping the pulsing sound and initiating a chime. When he did, a small swirl of smoke appeared in front of the belt and a small figure flew out of it, gradually getting bigger and revealing to be a short-sleeved black hoodie with orange glaring dot eyes and orange trim, appearing to be about the size of Haru's torso.

EYE~

BATCHIRIMINNA~

BATCHIRIMINNA~

The phrase continued on loop, which made Karasu look at Haru even more puzzled than before. Haru wordlessly pulled the lever on the right side, and pushing it back in, the eye closed and opened back up, showing the G had rotated into another new panel that showed an orange face with large black eyes.

KAIGAN!

ORE!

Orange lines appeared around Haru's body, along with a blue eye-shaped logo appearing on his chest. In a swarm of particles, black armor formed around his body with the lines ceasing their glow and resting on the armor. A blank helmet also formed around his head. The hoodie then floated over Haru's now armored body and lowered itself onto him, sliding over his torso and passing through his shoulders so that the sleeves fit around his arms without needing to even lift them up. A faceplate in the same design as the panel on his belt flipped up from the bottom of his chin until it covered his face completely, along with a single wavy silver horn sticking out of the center.

LET'S GO, KAKUGO!

GHO-GHO-GHO-GHOST-O!

"What... kind of shikai is this? This is like no Zanpakuto I've ever seen! Who exactly are you?!"

Taking both his hands and lowering the hood down behind his neck, Haru held a hand out and another object appeared from his belt, this one almost instantly. It flung into his hand as a large mechanical-looking double-edged sword, with an orange handle and the same eye logo on his chest appearing in the center between the handle and the blade.

"This shikai is the power to save the ones I care for! The power of Ghost!"

"Cut! Cut! This is it, Chapter 2 is done! Cut I say!"

"This was a long time coming... just like everything else I do. Ahem, but anyway I hope it was worth the wait!"

"Well, I finished the Bleach anime FINALLY after putting it on hold after like, 3 years. But after watching that and playing a lot of Brave Souls the past month or so, I have been in a very Bleach mood and figured it was about time I get the ball rolling on this story. And now we got to see Haru's Zanpakuto, Shōmei-tō Yūrei! Now I'm sure you're wondering what that means. So, I've set up a little thing I like to call the..."

ZANPAKUTO INFORMATION POINT

"Or Z.I.P for short. And today, we have TWO Zanpakuto for the price of one Z.I.P! So let's go in order, shall we?"

Zanpakuto Name: Jinsokuna Setsudan

Meaning: Rapid Disconnection

Shikai Form: An odachi with a deep azure hilt and cords hanging off the end with black feathers at the tips.

Power: The manipulation of air pressure to create super sharp blades of wind parallel to the physical blade.

Master: Karasu Yoshihisa

"And now for our main Zanpakuto!"

Zanpakuto Name: Shōmei-tō Yūrei

Meaning: Illuminating Lamp Ghost

Shikai Form: A mysterious belt and eyeball-shaped object.

Power: The formation of armor when the ball and belt are used in tandem. Can also produce a larger mechanical sword weapon.

Master: Haru Kusonoki

"For those of you not familiar with Kamen Rider Ghost, I'm leaving the information scarce at best. It adds an air of mystery for those not in the know."

"But anyway, yes, Karasu is an OC because I needed someone for Haru to fight and there aren't many people in Division 6 that are really noteworthy in the canon outside of Byakuya, Renji, and the Kuchiki elders, so... yeah. Needed to do something there and have a fight that would TRULY trigger his shikai. So now we can move forward with the knowledge that there will likely be a lot of OC fights in the future during the Soul Society arc."

"So what awaits Haru now that he's awakened to his shikai? Will this first step towards saving Rukia give him an edge when facing off against other Shinigami in the future? And what'll happen once he meets up with Ichigo and his friends? All these questions and more will be answered in the upcoming chapters! So until next time, ja ne!"
