A Memory of Fire
On the beach, the hedgehog naps,
While on the shore, waves softly lap.
The world is safe, and it is free,
From Metal's animosity.
…
Yet unease lingers in the air,
As he's touched by old despair.
He sees the magma, sees his foe,
Sees him into fire go.
…
Tails is fine, has a new plane.
And from surfing can't refrain.
Knuckles still for treasure seeks,
Robotnik curses, roars, and shrieks.
…
And Metal lingers in his mind,
No solace there for him to find.
His body carries bruises still.
The wind is warm, yet carries chill.
…
New foes will come, more 'bots to beat,
But all he wants is rest and sleep.
Planet Freedom's safe, averted end,
And here at least, he's with his friends.
