Okay, now it's time for the final part of the story, and what I'm going to be working on next! Anyway, enjoy!
It was early Saturday morning as Charlie Brown came out of his house, taking a deep breath as he had his mitt in one hand, and his baseball bat in another. He looked up towards the sunrise as he gave a small smile. "Well... this is it... I'm ready for the big day..."
A couple moments later, Sally followed close behind as she looked over at Charlie Brown, surprised at his determination. She couldn't help but roll her eyes at the sight. "Oy vey... you're showing off that whole 'we're going to win attitude' again..."
"I think I have VERY good reason to do that." Charlie Brown smiled. "Not only have I been lucky with a girlfriend, but things seem to be going my way this week! No football pull-aways, no taunts, not even the Kite Eating Tree ate my kite yesterday!"
"That was mostly because you ran into the tree and your kite fell into a nearby lake! Your kite was lucky it didn't land in that tree." Sally pointed out.
"True, but I'm calling that a win in my books." Charlie Brown retorted right back with a smirk.
The round headed kid's little sister could only look at Charlie Brown, dumbfounded before she could give a sigh. "Only you, Charlie Brown, can find a positive spin around losing your kite in the water..."
At that moment, Snoopy came in, also wearing a baseball cap as he gave a salute to his master, indicating that he was ready to play shortstop, as per usual.
"I guess we're all ready then... let's go out there and make this game a good one, shall we?" Charlie Brown smirked.
"Can't wait to watch us lose another game once again." Sally pointed out.
"This time, we're going to win for sure!" Charlie Brown smiled as he began to walk towards the rising sun, ready to go as he started to march.
Sally and Snoopy were looking at each other, before both of them sighed at the same time, Sally saying, "Looks like this is going to be one of those days..."
Snoopy nodded as he took off his baseball cap and held it close to his heart, before putting it back on and started to follow Charlie Brown. Sally could only shrug as she started to follow not too far behind.
Around the same time, Marcie had come out of her room, her parents allowing her to have fun outside for once. She gave a sigh of relief, knowing that her parents were at least considerate enough to let her out once in a while. But her mind wasn't on the beautiful sunrise nor the pretty clouds that roamed past the sky. No, she was thinking more about the baseball game and watching her new boyfriend play. Even though she knew his team had a losing streak, she was okay seeing the smile on his face... and even if he lost, now he has a girlfriend to help perk him up after a game is over, so there was that at the very least.
As Marcie walked out into the sidewalk, she noted two figures waving to her. Marcie gave a small grin as she caught up to Peppermint Patty and Heather, the latter of which was carrying supplies. "Heather, sir, good to see you again!"
Peppermint Patty was about to open her mouth in frustration, but then sighed. "It's Stockholm Syndrome kicking in for Marcie's nickname, that's all it is..."
Heather gave a giggle. "Ready to go to the baseball game, Marcie!"
"For once, I'm actually really excited to go!" Marcie smiled as Peppermint Patty laughed.
"That's the spirit, Marcie!" Peppermint Patty smiled as she slapped the nerdy girl on the back.
"I didn't even know you were a player of baseball, Heather." Marcie noted as the three of them started to walk to the mound together. "I thought you were more of a... observer of the game."
"Oh, well, I just figured, why not try anything once?" Heather shrugged. "Besides, I can't just be the girl that sits around and looks pretty. I have to at least do SOMETHING with my life, you know. I don't really talk to a lot of others."
"Yeah, I can easily tell." Peppermint Patty rolled her eyes.
"Patricia, remember what we discussed..." Heather noted.
Peppermint Patty sighed, before the tomboy turned towards her friend. "Hey Marcie, how would you like to sit out of this game? Just observe and you'll get the basic idea of baseball into your head."
"Are you sure you don't want me to play, sir?" Marcie asked as she raised an eyebrow.
"I think you earned a break from me forcing you to play the sports you don't always like." Peppermint Patty smiled. "Besides, I think I want to test out a new team member today... if that's okay with you?"
Marcie raised an eyebrow in confusion, before turning to Heather, who grinned sheepishly as she pointed to the tomboy, then to her. Marcie gave a shrug and a small smile as she said, "Why not? I think we ALL deserve a break once in a while. Thank you very much, sir."
Peppermint Patty grinned as he said, "Great! I'll be able to beat Chuck's team for sure! Well, come on! Our teams are waiting!"
As the tomboyish girl in green began to ran off, Marcie and Heather just watched the excitable girl in confusion as Marcie gave a sigh, "I'm beginning to see that not much has changed, even after the reveal of my friend getting a new mother..."
"I don't know, Marcie. Look at her little smile." Heather smiled as she pointed towards Peppermint Patty as she was skipping once in a while with every step she took. "Maybe with a new mom around, Peppermint Patty might be a little less stressed out..."
"And hopefully, she'll be more into learning." Marcie rolled her eyes a bit.
"Oh, Marcie, you know perfectly well that she'll be fine!" Heather smiled.
"Come on you guys!" Peppermint Patty grinned as she called the two out from far ahead.
"Race you?" Heather grinned.
"What, are you kidding?" Marcie raised an eyebrow towards the giggling girl.
"Ready? GO!" Heather said as she began to run off. Marcie stood in shock, before narrowing her eyes and started to chase after her, getting her daily exercise done for the day.
Pretty soon, both teams had met up as Charlie Brown and Peppermint Patty, both respective managers for the teams, looked over each other as Charlie Brown coughed. "Okay, thank you all for participating for this Saturday's game. I know you have a lot on your minds, but trust me, by the time we're done with this game, win or lose, we'll be out of it better and stronger than before."
"I agree with good ol' Chuck here! It doesn't matter whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game." Peppermint Patty said as she gave a nod. "All right, anyway, let's do this!"
Everyone gave a nod and cheer as Charlie Brown and Peppermint Patty shook hands, before each of the teams started to depart... save for a few... Charlie Brown, Peppermint Patty, Linus, Heather and Marcie. Marcie shyly walked over to Charlie Brown as she looked up towards the boy. "Charles, good luck in the game today."
"Thank you, Marcie. That means a lot to me." Charlie Brown grinned as he shook her hand, then pulled her close to hug her.
"Awww..." Heather widened her eyes watching this little moment.
Linus, watching this awkwardly, coughed as the two were brought to attention. Both round headed kid and nerdy girl realized the position they were in before letting go of each other, whistling casually as Charlie Brown looked at the boy who got his attention. "Yes, Linus?"
"I just thought you'd be interested to know. Lucy's still grounded to her room. Her parents are STILL a little angry that she beat up Marcie and right now, she's staying in her room, punching things in frustration. She isn't even allowed near the TV, that's her mood right now." Linus sighed.
"Wait, so... Lucy's not here? But she's our right fielder!" Charlie Brown said in shock.
"I know, I know..." Linus groaned. "But let's be honest here, Charlie Brown. Since when has she been a VERY good right fielder?"
Charlie Brown opened his mouth... and paused as he thought about it. "Huh... I guess that's a valid point... but nevertheless, I need nine players or we won't be having a baseball game today..."
Peppermint Patty paused as she watched Charlie Brown pace in worry. Peppermint Patty then looked over to Marcie, who was staring at him sympathetically. All of a sudden, an idea sprung in her mind... a sweet idea. "Hey Chuck, Marcie's not going to be doing anything for the game. How about she takes your place as right fielder?"
"What?" Marcie shook her head in shock as Charlie Brown and Linus looked up.
"Are you sure, Peppermint Patty? Last time Marcie was on my right field, she hasn't been... exactly helpful." Charlie Brown said nervously. "No offense, sweetheart."
"None taken, Charles." Marcie nodded. "I don't think I'd make a good right fielder, sir."
"Nonsense. Just don't be nervous, Marcie. I know you're not good at sports, and I respect that, but Chuck really needs another member for his team. I'm not asking for much, Marcie... but I'm sure your boyfriend REALLY needs all the help he can get." Peppermint Patty grinned, making both Charlie Brown and Marcie blush.
"Come on, Marcie. This may be your biggest chance. Who knows? It might help Charlie Brown win a game!" Heather smiled as she patted her new friend on the shoulder.
Marcie paused as she looked over towards the sky, feeling a gentle breeze go by... before taking a deep breath and smiling. "Well... all right. I'll give it a shot. And Charles, I promise not to let you down."
"You really mean that?" Charlie Brown asked as he looked over towards his girlfriend.
Marcie giggled happily as she kissed Charlie Brown on the lips, making him blush. "You know, I'm just about ready for anything the world can give to me. Let's do this!"
Linus smiled as he gave a nod. "Then the right fielder is settled. Shall we play?"
Charlie Brown grinned as he looked towards his friends and the other people who grinned. "I'm ready to take on the world, if that's what you mean..."
With that, Marcie went over to Charlie Brown's side, walking alongside him to the mound as Charlie Brown held hands with the girl he loved, taking her to right field as she blushed. She didn't know how much of a chance she had with this game, but she knew one thing.
"Charles is my boyfriend now... and I guess unrequited love CAN be requited after all..." Marcie grinned as she was led to the mound.
Little did anybody know was that nearby, someone was watching, holding a list. Someone... odd... someone... sinister. "Hmmm... so this is the girl I need..."
After looking over his list, he decided to write a name down. "Well, that's the sixth world that I need... now... what's the next one...?"
From nearby, Marcie blinked in confusion as she looked up... but noticed that nobody was there. She blinked in confusion, but shrugged as she turned her attention to the game... for as of this moment... it was ready to get going!
And no matter who won or who lost... it was the matter of how much consolement Charlie Brown would definitely need by the end of the day... and she was preparing to give him more than the intended consoling.
Orange Ratchet Story
"That's All, Folks!"
An Orange-Ratchet Fanfiction
Finally, after a few years, this story has reached the conclusion! How did you guys like it? Time for my final thoughts on this story!
Overall, I'm glad I was able to complete this story, originally, when I wrote this one a long time ago, this was back when the Peanuts Movie was released, and I decided to write a Peanuts fanfiction... and with, spoiler alert, the Little Red Haired Girl's face revealed at the end of the movie, I knew I needed a conflict... and considering I was a fan of Charlie Brown x Marcie, but noticing there wasn't enough fics with those two being a pair, I decided to take a crack at it. Originally, it was mostly Marcie thinking about her feelings of Charlie Brown and Charlie Brown trying to help her, but... as time went on, it started to evolve into the story you read before you today. Unfortunately, I had writer's block around 2016 and I couldn't exactly get back into it. I wrote a couple more Peanuts fics since, but... sadly, not enough to get me back into this... fortunately, thanks to you guys, I was able to look back into this story, and when I realized that I don't have much left to do, I just decided to finish up the story, which was not so bad! Only three chapters to do left! I wanted to end it at chapter twenty originally, but I figured with the plot wrapping up, eighteen chapters would be enough. But still, I had a great time going back to this, and hopefully you guys are happy with the fact that I concluded this story once and for all!
Now, what am I doing for next July for my 'Complete One Incomplete Story A Month' challenge? Well... I'm going to make it Tokyo Mew Mew Month, and thanks to a little randomizer game of Russian Roulette online, the next story that'll be focused on in July will be 'Pudding Loves Chicken Chimera Anima'! For now though, since it's still June, and we have a long way to go until July, I'll be focusing on the runner-ups for June's poll... which happens to be a Milo Murphy's Law fanfiction entitled 'Spring Dance', another story I've been meaning to get back to for some time now!
Anyway, thank you all for reading, and have a very wonderful day!
