Chapter 33

Sunlight crept in through the window, a new day, one that Regina was not very interested in started she groaned slightly shielding her eyes from the sun's rays and turned towards Maleficent. The dragon was still deeply sleeping, facing away from the queen. Regina scooted over, wrapping an arm around her fiance's waist, spooning her, and buried her face into her blonde locks that were splayed across the pillow.

Mal stirred slightly, moving her fingers to lay on top of Regina's. They stayed in this position for a while, not yet completely up but not exactly asleep. Just reveling in each other's company as the day kicked off around them.

Mal was the first to move. Shifting slightly to turn towards Regina. "Morning, my darling," she muttered as she leaned over to kiss the queen's lips softly.

"Morning," Regina replied snuggling further into Maleficent's body.

"Hope you had fun last night," Mal said as she wrapped her arms around Regina tighter.

Regina mumbled, "last night yes, this morning, no." She groaned the last word as the headache from last night's drinking really kicked in. "Can you shut off the sun?"

Mal chuckled softly, "No, I'm afraid not. But I can do you one better." She pulled back slightly to look at Regina smiling at her, she leaned over kissing her forehead and letting her magic flow through to ease the pain that was beating inside her skull. "Better?" she asked as she leaned away.

Regina nodded, "Thank you." She pecked Mal's lips and went back to cuddling up with her.

"Now that the headache is gone, did you really have fun last night?" Mal asked, softly caressing Regina's dark locks.

"I did. You were right, I really should spend time with old friends more often. Cruella might be insane but she does know how to have a good time." she laughed.

"Yeah, it was fun. We should do it again sometime." Mal suggested as she ran a finger of Regina's arm.

"Next time, less drinking please. I don't have a dragon's stomach."

"Fair enough." She gently pushed Regina until she was laying on her back and crawled on top of her, "Now, I want breakfast." Dipping down she captured her lips in a deep kiss before starting to kiss down her body.

Regina moaned as Mal started her slow descent.

Regina had gone into work with a smile on her face. After their morning quickie, Mal and she had sat down for actual breakfast together, going over some wedding plans and she left with the promise to meet her for lunch at Granny's before going over to the dress shop with Lily to at least start looking for their dresses.

They had considered going separately to keep the mystery but decided against that. They would try on dresses together and make their choices separately. Regina wasn't the type to want to try on wedding dresses and she was fine with a small ceremony at town hall but Mal insisted they have a large event. Telling her she deserved to and shouldn't have only her marriage to Leopold as an example of a wedding. Henry had sided with Mal, claiming he wanted to see his mom get married. Lily was no help either, so she eventually had caved and agreed to plan a wedding.

By lunch time she made her way over to Granny's to meet up with Maleficent and Lily.

She walked into the diner and immediately saw mother and daughter at the bar talking about something. Regina walked over to the two of them lightly running a hand over Mal's lower back and leaning in to peck her cheek before moving to give Lily a hug.

"Sorry, I'm late," she said as Mal laced her fingers with Regina's.

"You're not late," Mal dismissed.

Lily nodded, "She's right, I just need a couple minutes to get out of here."

"Take your time, sweetie," Regina replied as she sat down on a stool next to Mal. "Are you ready to try on wedding dresses?"

"Are you?" Mal countered, "I know this is a bit of sore topic."

Regina shook her head, "It's not a sore topic."

"Are you sure? I know you were a bit outnumbered. I just want you to have a good wedding. Your last one wasn't exactly what you had in mind."

Regina squeezed Mal's hand, "I know. And I appreciate that. I do."

"But?"

"No buts." Regina turned to face Mal, "I want to do this."

"Alright," Mal responded. "I'm sure you're going to look amazing."

"Right back at you," Regina responded. "So, tell me. Are there any dragon customs we should include? This is as much your wedding as it is mine."

"Hmm," Mal nodded, "Dragons are a bit less formal on the ceremony aspect, but there are rituals for the actual mating portion of the event."

"Mating portion?" Regina raised an eyebrow.

"Or as you humans call it, the wedding night."

"Right," Regina muttered, "What kind of rituals?"

"First it has to be under a full moon," Mal answered.

"Full moon? Okay, we'll set the date around that. Anything else?"

Mal held Regina's hand in both of hers, "The highest point in the land is usually typical. I think I found that on one of my flights. Normally things would happen in dragon form and on the ground but I was planning on arranging for a bed on top of the hill and I will obviously stay in my current state."

"Outside? In the open?"

"Yes, my love. Dragons are very particular about being around nature."

Regina nodded slowly, "Okay, is there any rituals we might be able to incorporate into the ceremony?"

Mal purses her lips thinking, "Well there is the mixing of the fire, which usually happens right before the mating but I don't see why it can't be earlier. You have magic, that can be done."

"Yeah? Okay, let's do that. Do you have any books that explain things a little more? I'm not sure exactly how I'm supposed to do that but maybe with some practice…"

"Of course, darling. I can teach you. Just like old times," Mal leaned over to kiss Regina's lips softly. "Maybe we can practice the rest of the rituals too," she raised her brow suggestively.

Regina laughed, "I think we have that part down."

Before Mal could counter, Lily had walked over to them announcing that she was ready to go. The three of them walked out and over to the bridal store to try on dresses. The process turning out to be much more pleasurable than Regina had initially anticipated. She was more eager to find the perfect dress knowing how in love she was with her soon to be wife, a stark difference from the last time she was fitted for a dress. For the first time in a long time the thought of having a wedding didn't seem so bad. Not when that wedding was with Maleficent.
