NOT MINE. I am just obsessed.

"Bomber!" Tank hollered across the com room. "MOVE IT!"

I hopped up and ran towards Tank, wondering what I had done. I had been working at Rangeman for the past four months, since Ranger had gone in the wind. As usual there had been no communication between him and I.

"Tank?" I asked as I strode up to his office door.

"Into Ranger's office." He said, taking my hand and pulling me towards the door.

"What? Why?" I scrambled to keep up, Tank's long strides were twice as long as mine. He pushed open the door and pushed me into Ranger's big leather chair in front of his computer.

"Give me one second." Tank tapped away at the keyboard. After a moment, the screen turned blue and then flickered as if it was starting an old movie. "We're up." He said.

"Up where?" I asked.

"Babe?" Ranger's voice echoed through the static coming from the computer's speakers.

"Ranger?" I leaned forward. The screen slowly started to clear and there staring back at me was a very pixelated Ranger. "Oh my God, Ranger! Where are you? I miss you."

"Babe, I miss you too." His pixelated image smiled and he leaned forward. "You look beautiful, Babe."

"You're looking kind of rough, Batman." I reached out and touched the screen. My heart ached that I couldn't touch him, but I could see and hear him. "Are you okay?"

"Nothing a band aid won't fix." He chuckled, then coughed. He looked horrible. His skin was pale and his eyes were sunken in. He looked like he hadn't slept or eaten properly since he left. Bruises, scratches and cuts littered his face, hands, arms and neck. Everything else was covered with a digital print military uniform. "Are you doing okay? Anything going on?"

"No." I bit my lip, knowing that I couldn't lie to him, but that telling him might add more stress. I couldn't have him be distracted because of me.

"Steph?" He reached out and I smiled, knowing that he was doing the same thing I was. "Tell me."

"I don't want you to worry about me, Ranger. You need to stay focused and diligent so that you can come home." I felt tears prick my eyes.

"Babe." He smiled. "I'm heading home soon. Just waiting on a flight. Tell me."

"Really? You're coming home?" I wanted to cry. I missed him so much.

"Yeah, Babe." He smiled again, his eyes softening. "I'm coming home."

"I love you." I whispered, touching my fingertips to my lips and then to the screen where his mouth was. "I miss you so much that it hurts."

"Babe, I love you too." His eyes were soft, and I could see his arm flexing as he rubbed his hand over the screen he was looking at. "Tank will keep you safe until I can get home. Please, don't run away from him. I need to know that you are safe and will be okay when I get back."

"I promise." I wiped the tears that were falling from my cheeks. "Do you know when?"

"No, Babe. I'm sorry I don't."

"Ranger…."

There was a loud boom and the screen flickered.

"Babe, I have to go. Tank, watch over her and keep her safe." He leaned close trying to memorize my face.

"Don't get shot." I said smiling through my tears.

"Don't go crazy, Babe."
