''We locked eyes for a long moment and the smell of sweet apples, with cinnamon and the slight scent of smoke, reached my nose.
Imagine my surprise when I looked down and saw that the two kids were already burning some of the sticks the man was selling'' ''I had no choice but to close my eyes and bring out a small bag filled with food and whatever I carried on me, the mouse faced man simply looked at me smiled and said.
''I see...so you don't have any money.'
''Let's make a deal, how about you carry my merchandise until we reach the next town and we call it even.'' the man name Mononoke said, with a smile that spoke wonders.
I had no choice but I closed my eyes and simply bowed my head. Instantly the man took off a large box from his back and handed it over to me. We walked in silence, for the rest of the day and in all honesty, I didn't know how the scented sticks lasted so long. The children ran around in the snow chasing each other, even as they were surrounded by the depressing environment and towering buildings that were covered in ice. The cheerful laughter and the quick steps of running children heavily contradicted my own and Mononoke's. And honestly, it was somewhat frustrating, somehow when we gave five steps those two kids rand two or three circles around us. Still, by the end of the day, we reached the other end of the town and I handed over the box filled with all of the man's goods, back to him. He tabled me took his box and walked away.
(Speech change)
As I left the man and his two children behind I couldn't help but wonder how such a dull man could have ever swept a woman off her feet, he was painfully struck in attitude and if it wasn't for the little ones he would, in all honesty, have been completely alone.
Still, it was none of my concern, I was here to see who would buy my products and look into some stories I have heard about this town, that was now called a city.
The place staked of death and despair, the kind mortals could never bring out.
After all, I have been present in nearly every major war and every act of genocide I have witnessed and while Humans do come close they are but a pale imitation of what I have seen the others do.
The city is filled with the crying souls of the dead and the dying, all around are cats that keep watch, ye walked with that man and his two children the creatures seemed to somewhat shy away.
Still, after leaving them behind, I walked for about an hour until I arrived at a large mansion.
The moment I laid eyes it did the building change, the white pillars and walls were replaced with black oil colors one and blood poured, it all stank of rot. This was the place where the evil holding the city had taken root.
I had barely taken a step when I heard a cat scream in pain, a demon had been killed and many more were dying. I would have turned around to see what was going on but the root of the problem had to be dealt with, less whoever was drawing attention be overwhelmed by the evil of this place.
Slowly I walked up the satires, as the charms, I wore forced the evil away and I stretched out my right hand and knocked on the door. As the door opened I saw a young woman and I smiled and said.
"Greetings mam, I am a peddler would you lime to see my many medicines, remedies and"
