Frozen Creed: Requiem

Chapter 11

I don't own Frozen or Assassin's Creed.

"What do you mean a deal?" Elsa asked.

"Before you hear what he has to say, you should know that he was the one who ordered you kidnapped twice" Anna said.

"and you managed to save her both times, so let's call that water under the bridge" Caspian said.
"Your highness what if I told you that I could reveal the secret of your powers, the reason you have them and how you got them to begin with" Caspian said.

"You're lying" Elsa responded.

"I am many things your highness, but I am not a liar" Caspian said.

"Your powers are not unique. There are others in the world with abilities similar to yours whose powers come from the same place" Caspian said, and Elsa had to work to keep her composure.

"Perhaps I can sweeten the pot even further. What if I told you that your parents are alive" Caspian said?

"I would ask how?" Anna demanded as Elsa stumbled back as if she had been struck.

"Your mother in particular is a brilliant scholar who knows as much about your powers and their nature as anyone on earth. You think I would lose that knowledge and brilliance? Your parents ship never went down in a storm, or at least not in the way you think. I do not know where they were going, and in truth I didn't care. I followed their ship and seized it and them, then I had their ship scuttled. For the past four years they have been under my…care working the last pieces of the puzzle I needed" Caspian said as frost covered the entire room and snow started to swirl.

"Elsa" Anna said rushing to her sisters' side.

"There alive" Elsa whispered her head in her hands.

"Yes, their alive" Anna said concerned.

"I thought…" Elsa said as the ice disappeared.

"that you had killed them, that somehow your powers had run out of control and destroyed their ship?" Caspian finished.

"Would you shut up for two minutes?" Anna demanded.

"Your majesty what I offer are two desires I know you possess, the chance to know the origin and nature of your powers and the chance to reunite your family" Caspian said.

"Alright, agreed, I'll do whatever you want" Elsa said.

"Elsa No!" Anna said firmly.

"Anna mother and father are alive. We have a chance to see them again" Elsa said taking Anna's hands.

"The question must be asked, does Tsithio wish to see your parents again?" Connor asked from the corner.

"A reasonable assumption given what they did" Caspian agreed.

"Anna?" Elsa asked.

"I…can't forgive them, not for what they did to you" Anna said.

"What?" Elsa asked.

"I can't forgive them for supporting you locking yourself away, for their cowardice in giving our home up to the oricalcus" Anna said.

"If you want to see them again, then I'll go with you to support you, but that's all I can do for now" She explained.

"Anna" Elsa said sadly.

"So, it's settled then" Caspian said.

"I have terms of my own" Anna said.

"Of course," Caspian said.

"I am Elsa's bodyguard. She doesn't leave my sight, and we travel on my ship" Anna said.

"You have a ship?" Kristoff asked.

"Agreed" Caspian said ignoring the man.

"We also need a week to get our affairs in order before sailing" Anna said.

"Also, agreeable, provided I am accorded accommodations inside the castle?" Caspian asked.

"Under guard?" Anna replied.

"If you must" Caspian replied. They both looked at Elsa who was standing staring at them opened mouth until Anna elbowed her slightly.

"Oh, um yes these terms are acceptable" Elsa fumbled.

"Excellent. Now that our business is concluded for the moment I shall return to the party. Mr. Franklin?" Caspian asked.

"Oh of course, I have some questions of my own if I may?" He asked Caspian as they left the room. After they were gone Anna let out a huge sigh.

"That was deftly handled Tsithio" Connor praised her.

"Hardly. He has us in a corner and he knows it" Anna replied.

"Perhaps, but this is still a chance to gain knowledge, even if it comes from an enemy" Connor said.

"And a chance to deal with your past" He added.

"I want you with me" Anna said looking at him, oblivious to the confused look on Kristoffs face and the stormy look on her sisters.

"Of course. My brotherhood has things well in hand back home, and you need someone to watch your back" Connor said.

"She has someone to watch her back" Kristoff said stepping in between them and Connor just smiled at him.

"Until we leave, consider yourself our guest" Anna said brushing past her boyfriend.

"With all due respect, I will sleep in the sanctuary. This kind of luxury makes me uncomfortable" He said.

"Savage" Anna joked rolling her eyes.

"effete brat" Connor replied.

"Really, and who won our hunting competitions?" Anna asked poking him in the chest.

"I will be down in the sanctuary if you need me" was his only reply.

"Actually, I would appreciate if you took the night shift of watching Caspian" Anna said, and the man nodded.

"Then I had better take a nap" Connor replied and left.

"at least Caspian is dealt with for the moment" Anna said to herself.

"Now we have to inform the prime minister and the new parliament of what's happened and let them know they're going to be in charge for the foreseeable future" She said.

"But first I have to see to our guests and make sure the party ends on a happy note" Anna kept rambling to herself as she left, forgetting the people left in the room.

"I think she forgot us" Olaf said from a corner where he stood with no one noticing him.

"Your sister is, quite surprising" Elizabeth said.

"I better make sure she's Okay" Kristoff said.

"I'll go with you" Elsa said.

"I got this. Besides, you have someone else you need to pay attention to" He told her softly and gestured to Elisabeth.

"Right" Elsa said turning to Elisabeth and putting on a nervous smile as Kristoff exited the room with Olaf.

"Kristoff, has Anna really killed people?" The snowman asked.

"Seems like it" The man said rubbing the back of his head. The two returned to the ball room to find the party still in full swing with Anna holding court as she kept an eye on Caspian who was locked in conversation with Franklin and the American contingent.

"Hey" Kristoff said softly in her ear.

"Hey" She said looking up and smiling at him.

"How are you doing?" Kristoff asked.

"Other than the fact that my greatest enemy just revealed my biggest secret to the people I love the most before I was ready, I'm great" She said softly enough so that no one else could hear her.

"You know this doesn't change the way I feel about you right? I actually think it's kind of awesome, and super-hot" He said, and the girl rolled her eyes and kissed him.

"I still love you too. Always" Olaf said.

"Oh" Anna said wrapping the snowman in a hug.

"Such a fascinating creature" Franklin said walking up.

"Creature, where?" Olaf asked looking around.

"Olaf is a part of our family Mr. Franklin, and I would be grateful if you treated him as such with the same respect you reserve for my sister and I" Anna said.

"Of course, your highness, my apologies" Benjamin Franklin said bowing slightly.

"Excuse me everyone?" Anna said loudly gaining everyone's attention.

"My apologies but I'm afraid I have to cut the party short. My sister has retired with lady Elizabeth, and a matter has come up that needs my attention" Anna stated and watched as everyone, but Caspian filed out.

"Well done your highness" Caspian praised her.

"Guards, please escort the prince to his room" Anna ordered.

"So, what now?" Kristoff asked.

"you get a good night's sleep. I have plans to make" Anna told him and left for her sanctuary.

"Anna!" Elsa said running up to her, and Anna had to keep from sighing in frustration as she turned to see her sister running up to her.

"Yes?" Anna asked as Elsa almost dove into her arms.

"Thank you" Elsa whispered in her ear.

"For what?" Anna asked confused as Elsa clutched her.

"For always protecting me" Elsa said and as they separated, and Elsa once again looked at Anna with that look of adoration that made Anna's skin crawl.

"You should head to bed. I've got to talk to Conner" Anna said turning to walk away.

"Actually, I was wondering if I could see what's in the basement, if you would like to show me?" Elsa said nervously and Anna stopped and turned back to look at her. On the one hand Anna felt an urge to tell her sister no, a feeling of jealousy and propriety coming over her, but on the other she felt a sudden desire to open up to her sister, to reveal everything and finally clear the air. Taking a deep breath Anna chose the latter.

"Okay" Anna said and turning walked toward the library, Elsa following her. They went through the library and Anna pulled the candlestick and taking Elsa's hand led her down the dark staircase.

"Please don't make a light" Anna said as Elsa raised her hand to make glowing ice.

"Passing through the dark is a tradition" She explained.

Elsa let her sister lead her down the stairs, trusting in her guidance and the warmth in her hand, her strong calloused Elsa thought somewhat strange and unbecoming of a lady of high birth, but now understood it was the hand of a swordswoman who had wielded a blade most of her life. They came to the bottom of the stairs and entered into a humongous chamber that was buried underneath the stone foundations of the castle. The chamber was lit by two braziers that gave of a warm soft light as Elsa looked around at the two openings and saw the large table carved out of the stone.

"The brotherhood carved this sanctuary out of the rock almost a thousand years ago during the Viking age. They were wiped out or left during the renaissance, and this place was forgotten, even by our own ancestors" Anna explained leading Elsa over to the table where the Assassin's insignia was placed.

"So, our family are assassin's?" Elsa asked.

"On our mothers' side" Anna explained shocking Elsa.

"Our aunt Primrose is an Assassin though she said mother never joined the order" Anna said.

"Why not?" Elsa asked.

"It's a hard life Elsa. We keep many secrets from those we love. We live a life in darkness full of bloodshed." Anna explained.

"I remember when we were children, there was a family dinner, and we got into an argument" Elsa said the memory coming back.

"You said the Assassin…that I was a hero" Anna said.

"And you said that a murderer couldn't be a hero" Elsa said.

"and I meant it. I'm not a hero" Anna said.

"But you are. You saved our home, you saved me" Elsa said.

"And we do not do it to be heroes" Connor said making Elsa jump as the man seemed to emerge out of the shadows at the edge of the brazier's light now dressed in a simple shirt and black pants.

"Tsitshio is right. We do not do what we do to be heroes, or even be recognized for our accomplishments. History has taught us again and again that seeking recognition and glory for ourselves is the path to destruction" Connor said.

"We work in the dark to serve the light" Anna said.

"We are assassins" Connor said as he walked up the stairs.

"I will begin my watch" He said.

"Thank you" Anna said.

"So, who is he?" Elsa asked feeling a strange emotion in the pit of her stomach at the closeness and affection Anna had for the handsome stranger.

"Ratonhnhaké:ton, my brother" Anna said.

"When I left for a year, it was to America, and I found Ratonhnhaké:ton and the colonial order. He taught me how to move in the woods like one of his people, to hunt and live off the land. It was a good year" Anna said fondly staring after Conner.

"And the two of you?" Elsa asked leaving the inference hanging in the air.

"What?" Anna asked then blinked before bursting out laughing.

"Me and Conner. No! I mean, yeah, I thought about it from time to time, he is handsome, and smart, and kind, but at the time I had other concerns, and now I have Kristoff. Whatever chance we may have had is passed" Anna said as she walked to a cubby and took out a bottle and two glasses. Taking the lid off the bottle to set the glasses down and poured an amber liquid into each.

"The of dad's Clorys" Anna said holding the bottle up.

"That scotch is worth it's weight in gold" Elsa said shocked.

"Is this what you got drunk on?" Elsa asked remembering a confrontation in a dark library.

"Sometimes" Anna admitted glad the low light hid her blushing.

"like I said, it can be a hard life, especially the secrecy" Anna said picking up her glass and sipping. Elsa did the same, and almost gagged as the fiery liquid slid down her throat.

"It takes some getting used too" Anna said taking another sip as Elsa coughed.

"Are you okay?" Anna aske concerned.

"Father always joked that despite its smoothness and quality it could still peel paint off the walls" Elsa gasped.

"One more sip, a toast to no more secrets" Anna said raising her glass.

"No more secrets" Elsa added clinking their glasses together. Elsa took another small sip, the liquor burning not quite as fiercely as before as Anna downed her whole glass in one long pull. Feeling a need to not be outdone by her little sister Elsa tipped her head back and downed the rest of her glass in one pull, only to cough and splutter as she bent over nearly double.

"Are you alright?" Anna asked guiding Elsa into a chair.

"How can you drink that without choking?" Elsa asked.

"I told you, practice" Anna said rubbing Elsa's back.

"Now come on, lets get you to bed" Anna said.

"Will you stay with me?" Elsa asked.

"Sure, but I'll be sleeping with my blades on, just to be safe" Anna said. Later that night or early morning depending on your perspective Elsa stared at her sleeping sister who laid sprawled and snoring in her nightgown, but with her leather bracers on her wrists. Elsa took one wrist and ran her finger over the bracers gripping on of her sisters warm calloused hands.

"It's hard to sleep with you playing with my arm like that" Anna said making Elsa jump.

"I'm sorry" Elsa said making to pull away only for Anna to grip her arms.

"Don't be" Anna said as Elsa smiled.

"I was just thinking" Elsa said

"About what?" Anna asked.

"you" Elsa said, and Anna snorted in surprise.

"Seriously?" Anna asked laughing.

"Why are you laughing?" Elsa asked.

"You don't think there are more important things to be thinking about?" Anna asked

"More important than the fact that my little sister trained herself to be a killer to save our kingdom?" Elsa asked moving closer.

"You were right about one thing. You lived a hard life. The secrets you kept, the burden you must have carried" Elsa whispered and in the moonlight being an inch from her sisters face she saw the sadness and tears at the edge of her sisters eyes before she turned onto her stomach and buried her face into her pillow.

"I told you I don't regret my life" Anna said into the pillow and Elsa draped an arm over her.

"I know, but you don't have to carry that burden alone anymore" Elsa said and felt her sister tense up.

"I would rather die than force this on you" Anna said into the pillow.

"And if I choose to help you carry it?" Elsa demanded starting to get a little angry at her sister stubbornness, when Ann pushed herself up and stared down at her, her eyes hard and cold, and for what seemed the hundredth time a memory surfaced, of when the Assassin, Anna had saved her from the thugs who had abducted her, the hard eyes who had stared at her from under a white hood and over a green scarf as she had all but dragged her through the streets of the city. It lasted for a moment before her sisters' eyes softened again back into the warm doe eyes Elsa knew so well.

"let me see your hands" Anna said quietly, and Elsa sat up and held out her hands palms up. Anna took them and rubbed her thumbs across Elsa's hands in such as way it sent pleasant shivers up the older girl's spine.

"Your hands are smooth as ice and soft as snow. There the hands of a noble, a queen who's never been forced to pick up a blade to defend herself" Anna said softly.

"Now feel mine" Anna said flipping over her own hands.

"I don't need to" Elsa said but rubbed her thumbs over Anna's warm calloused hands.

"These are the hands of someone strong. Someone whose never been afraid of hard work, of struggle, who doesn't flinch from getting their hands dirty" Elsa said.

"And even if you deny it, these are the hands of a true hero" Elsa said and pulled Anna down on top of her on the bed.

"Elsa?" Anna asked confused.

"I understand. You don't want me to dirty my hands, to callous them" Elsa said.

"Is that so wrong, wanting you to remain as unsullied as possible?" Anna asked.

"I've come to terms with the blood on my hands, but I'm hoping you will never have to kill anyone" Anna said as Elsa entwined their fingers, drawing strength and warmth from the strong calloused hands.

"I'm hoping…you can rely on me for that?" Anna asked questioningly and Elsa tensed up as the truth of what Anna was finally hit her in the gut.

"Elsa?" Anna asked.

"I'm sorry, that just surprised me" Elsa said.

"I know what you are, and you are a hero, but your still my little sister" Elsa said, and Anna sighed.

"Which is why I wanted to keep this a secret for as long as possible. It's going to be hard for you to really accept what I am, and what I do. Even if you understand it intellectually emotionally you still have a hard time imagining your sweet dopey little sister being a trained killer" Anna said tiredly, her position practically in her sisters' arms easing her into slumber.

"Maybe your right" Elsa said as exhaustion caught up with her as well.
