Hello there, guys! So, you're probably wondering why this story is being updated this September. Well, this is all part of a ploy for you guys to go to the polls and cast your votes for November's part of the "Complete One Incomplete Story a Month" project! And the theme this time is the Runner-Ups that were close, but didn't quite get in! However, just because this story gets a mention doesn't mean that it won't be an author's note, oh no! We're still going to have a chapter, it's just to let you know that this story is up for contention!

That being said, "The Upper Class Boy and the Lower Class Girl" is up for nomination! For those that don't know, I also support Lorenzo x Lila as a couple, and this is one of those stories I started working on to focus on the love life, but I put it on the wayside. However, this chapter is more to see if I got it, and if you want more... well, we'll see what happens. Anyway, enjoy!

After Lorenzo and Lila had finished their conversation and went their separate ways for lunch, Lila somehow felt a little more... cheerier than she usually felt. Sure, she always did her best to put on a happy smile, but even then, she knew she couldn't show off her real feelings. And yet, somehow, talking with Lorenzo, even if it was for a few minutes, made her smile go up a bit, feeling a moment of genuine happiness.

As Lila was sitting herself down to help herself to some lunch, she couldn't help but note two pairs of footsteps approaching on each side. Lila looked up and noted Rhonda and Nadine sitting down with her at the table she was at. Lila gave a small smile as she started the conversation. "Good afternoon, Rhonda, Nadine. Isn't it a beautiful day out there?"

"Oh, it sure is..." Rhonda gave a slight giggle as she and Nadine were pulling out their lunches as Rhonda raised an eyebrow. "Say Lila, you seem to be a little... cheerier than usual."

"Maybe I am..." Lila gave a small smile. "I don't know what it is, but I feel like today has been... slightly different than usual."

"Oh, I think we can get an idea on what." Nadine gave a slight giggle.

Lila cocked her head in confusion. "Huh? What do you mean?"

"Oh, come come, Lila. We all seen you talking with Lorenzo today." Rhonda couldn't help giving a smile.

"Lorenzo? You mean... no, no, it's not what you girls think!" Lila blushed a bit. "Besides, I've only known him for like, today? It's not like we're going out or anything. It's just ever so fast!"

"But it makes sense." Nadine noted. "You were the first new student to arrive in our class, and Lorenzo was also a new student. Wouldn't it make sense to have the two new students together?"

Lila looked between Rhonda and Nadine in shock as she sighed, "Girls, don't you remember what happened the last time you persuaded me into following a potential romance, and it turns out it WASN'T Arnold who wrote that message?"

"Yeah, it was strange..." Rhonda paused, but shook her head as she resumed, "But Lila, this is totally different. It's not a message telling you to go to Lorenzo, it's a school project! It's fate!"

Lila rolled her eyes. "The same school project that teamed you and Curly up?"

Rhonda immediately kept silent as she pushed her eyes aside, then shook her head. "No, no, no, this is totally different! What I'm trying to say is, is that well..." The rich girl was trying to find the right words for the situation she was in, but so far, she wasn't getting any luck.

Thankfully, Nadine was there to help clear her thoughts. "What Rhonda is trying to get at is that maybe Lorenzo might be the perfect boy for you."

"Again, Nadine, Rhonda, I only knew him for like, a day!" Lila pointed out.

"Just think about it." Rhonda giggled. "We're not pressuring you into doing something you don't want to do, but it's something to at least consider."

Lila could only shake her head as she gave a groan, thinking to herself, "Rhonda and Nadine, you two are always nosy when it comes to my relationship status with everyone. Imagine, me and Lorenzo... hmmmm…" Lila paused on that thought as she gave a small smile. "Me and Lorenzo... huh..."

"Man, do you know how LUCKY you are right now!" Sid pointed out as Lorenzo was sitting next to him, Stinky and Harold at lunch.

"Lucky at what?" Lorenzo asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Uh, duh! We're referring to you and Lila!" Harold crossed his arms. "You got her as a partner, that's very rare!"

"What do you mean?" Lorenzo quizzed in confusion.

"Well, let me put it this way, Lorenzo." Stinky explained. "We all know Lila is the sweet-as-lemon-pudding girl who shares her stories about her old farm life back in Pleasantville, and yet whenever we have to partner up with anybody, she always goes for one of the girls."

"Really?" Lorenzo raised an eyebrow. "You all must be pretty observant. I would not have noticed, amigos."

"Sure, it's a minor detail, but the only boys I've ever seen her with is Arnold and his cousin." Sid explained. "Arnold and his cousin. That should be enough to know where her priorities lie."

"But you're different than the rest of them, Lorenzo." Stinky pointed out. "Ah mean, you're the richest person we know aside from Miss Rhonda."

The Spanish rich kid blinked in confusion, before his eyes widened. "Uno momento, por favor! You think Lila and I-" Lorenzo shook his head. "Guys, I only know her for like, a couple hours."

"Does it matter?" Sid raised an eyebrow.

"Uh, si!" Lorenzo frowned. "For one thing, Lila and I aren't in love, we're just partners for a project. And besides, even if I WAS in love with Lila, how would it work?"

"What do you mean?" Harold raised part of his eyebrow in confusion.

"What do I-" Lorenzo groaned. "Have you ever heard of the classes?"

"Of course we heard of classes, we take them all the time." Harold scoffed, rolling his eyes. "What kind of question is that?"

"No, no, not school classes. Social classes." Lorenzo sighed as he pulled out a chart from his backpack in an attempt to demonstrate to the boys. "You see, there are three different types of classes in our society... the upper class, the middle class, and the lower class."

"Dang, only three classes?" Stinky said in surprise. "Must be a short school day!"

"Again, this has nothing to do with school!" Lorenzo held his head and groaned. "Pay attention, please." The three boys talking to Lorenzo fell silent as Lorenzo pointed to each part of the triangle that was drawn. "Upper class. Middle class. Lower class. Upper class is where the wealthy people are, people born into money or having the highest political power. The middle class is what people call the working class, people that have steady and good jobs. And the lower class are what are referred to as the poor class, the homeless or just people that have a low-paying job in general."

The boys looked at each other in confusion as Sid asked, "What does this have to do with-"

"It has everything to do with everything, mi amigos, and the sooner you learn about it, the better. Anyway, I am what you call, upper class, along with Rhonda. Harold, you are the middle class, mostly because I understand your parents have steady jobs."

Harold gave a laugh. "Heh, that's true!"

The Spanish kid nodded as he pointed to the lower class. "And nothing personal you two, but you're teetering pretty close to lower class."

"None taken. I can hardly understand what you're saying about these classes anyway." Stinky noted as Sid frowned.

"No way. Class shouldn't matter when it comes to romance. Hasn't there been a case where the upper class person falls in love with a lower class person?" Sid asked.

"There are some cases, but I don't think they apply to me." Lorenzo shook her head. "And Lila... well, she's sweet and all, but she is in the lower class! I don't know if it would ever work out between us."

"How do you know that?" Stinky asked.

"I don't know..." Lorenzo paused as he looked down. "I really don't..."

Over at another lunch table where Arnold and Helga are sitting, Helga paused as she looked between the lunch tables Lila and Lorenzo were sitting at as she gave a smirk. "Hey Arnold."

"Yeah?" Arnold asked in confusion.

"Ten bucks says these two get together by the end of the week." Helga pointed over to the two.

"What brought that on?" Arnold asked in curiosity.

"Arnold-o, have you seen Lila and Lorenzo talking to their friends, each of them? They're showing some clear signs that they happen to like-like each other." Helga smirked.

Arnold gave a chuckle as he said, "That would explain why you weren't paying attention to my idea about my project about the Milky Way..."

"What was that?" Helga blinked in confusion.

"Eh, never mind. I'll take you on that bet." Arnold smirked as he offered his hand to Helga.

Helga smirked as she shook it. "If they do get together, we date."

"Wait, what?" Arnold shook his head in shock. "That wasn't part of the-"

"Too late, we shook hands, no take-backs!" Helga quickly said as she turned around.

Arnold resisted the urge to slap his forehead as he thought, "I have really got to stop betting with Helga..."
