The Kalos Champion Chapter 13

Ash looked confused as if he had taken a blown that knocked his senses out he couldn't hear the spectators, his friends or even his enemies he was in shock Mewtwo wasn't responding to his telepathic calls.

"Ash" he heard from a distances but to him it was as if someone called from a void.

"Ash!" this one snapped him to reality still in a daze he looked up to see his sister and brother.

He was starting to regain his senses, he finally looked towards the field where his best friend and rival stood taking care of his Dusknoir, he realized his strongest elite four had lost.

Without a second thought he bolts towards him. "Paul I'm sorry" Ash says with his head hanging low.

"Sorry? sorry for what" The purple haired elite responds.

"I got distracted the field was weak for one second and they capitalized on it I'm the reason you lost to him" the champion says glaring towards Max.

There the boy stood with Umbreon not fazed, no damage, not a scratch on it and him with the biggest smirk on his face he knew what he has done, he knew he would get his chance to face the man his once idolized he would crush him at all cost.

Ash would shoot laser at him with eyes if he could, his anger rising more and more until he heard his rival speak.

"No worries man, if I wanted a win I could have used Kangaskhan" Paul says as calm as ever.

"What?" asked Ash as he and Paul made his way towards the tunnel leading back to the locker room.

"Come on you didn't think I was going all out against him" he says.

"Why wouldn't you go all out! your an elite four my elite four your literal job is to make sure scrubs like him never have a chance to battle me" says Ash clearly getting upset now.

"Listen I know what my job is, but I'm not just your elite four, I'm your best friend you clearly have demons to work out with these people you need to confront them the best way you know how, through battle" he says looking at the champion. Paul is angry for losing the battle but he wants to help Ash out the best way he can he knows had he talked to Ash about this head on he would have avoided it at all cost.

"But I can't" Ash says as he looks down at his shaky hand, "I've been brave when facing them before but only because I had to for everyones sake" he continued.

Paul only sighed and pointed up to the stand of friends. "You idiot we're here with you, you push yourself to edge for everything, your training to become an aura guardian, your training to face the old elite four, your training to face the old champion, you pushed yourself because you were scared we would leave as they did" this time pointing to the traitors.

Ash looked up to meet Pauls eyes.

"We're not them, we were here when you were broken we helped you because we believed in you, your training all of it wasn't for us it was for them so you could beat ever last one them" he said with passion in his voice.

The champion was thrown back a bit for Paul to show this passion for him, he looked down at his hand it stopped shaking he saw droplet fall on it and he looked up with tears running down his face.

He looked at Paul and had a flashback to when the elite four hugged him after he became the champion, he looked towards his friends remembering each moment he held in his heart his moment, his eyes laid on his brother and sister there they stood with tears in their eyes also.

Flashback

"There you have it Ash you are official apart of this family now" Meyer said smiling down at the boy who.

"Welcome to the family Ash" said his new brother Clemont.

"Now I have two big brothers this is awesome!" said an excited Bonnie.

"I - I don't have words to express how I f-feel" Ash was more than emotional, he finally had a family who believed in him a family he could rely on. "I promise to win the Kalos league I won't fail you!" he says bowing his head to them.

"Son what do you mean for us?" a confused Meyer asked the boy.

"I'll win so you don't leave me like everyone else" he says with more tears dropping to the floor.

Meyer hugs the boy "Son you win this league for yourself, not for me, not us, but for you" Ash looked up at him as his adoptive father continued to speak, "or don't you can do and be who ever you want to be" the man says.

This only made Ash cry more and he simply hugged Meyer harder as Clemont and Bonnie joined in, "thank you so much".

End of Flashback

The champion saw his father with the biggest grin on his face standing behind his siblings "father" he whispered as the image of him disappeared leaving only his siblings. He looked at his rival and gave him the fist bump "thank you" he says to him.

"You got this right because if you don't the love struck lionesses will tear me apart" Paul says a bit worried.

Ash turned to the boy standing before him "I got this" he said walking towards Max, with that Paul made his way back to his friends.

Max walked towards the champion until they reached each other "hmph it's about time you wusses were done, I almost didn't think you would be man enough to face me and my pikachu" he said with intentions to rattle the champion.

The champion looked a bit down to him and uttered a few words "I will obliterate you" with that he walked back to his end of the field.

Max gritted his teeth "I'll show you thinking you can talk down to me" he thought to himself taking his place.

The Group

Paul was bombarded with questions the second he entered.

"Paul how do you lose to him, I should fine you!" yelled Barry.

"Paul you alright after all that" asked Cilan.

The elite smirked "of course I'm fine if I wanted a win I could have used Kangaskhan" he said.

"So you let him win? how could you allow him to face Ash" said Korrina visibly upset with her friend.

"Ash can handle this we just need to be there for him" he said walking towards the balcony to witness his champion over come this hurdle

"you better be right Paul" said an angry blue haired girl.

Paul turned to look her way and was meet with 3 pairs of angry eyes, the queen, the maiden and the champion "what have I done" he thought to himself turning back to the battle field.

"you think Ash will be okay brother" Bonnie asked him.

He responded with a big grin "of course he is our brother".

The Traitors

"Who knew Max had it in him to take down the strongest elite four, I thought for sure he would get railed just like what happened against the other 2" Iris said impressed that the boy made it this far.

"Of course he beat him!" May shouted at the dragon master.

"May relax we all had our doubts about Max being about to beat Paul".

"Not me not for one second did I ever doubt my brother" she said looking at Max

Gary smirked "if only you knew how weak Max really is, although compared to these guys everyone looks weak" he thought looking at the group of elite trainers.

"Hey Gary is this what you wanted" Misty asked him.

"Yes kind of, I needed to make sure more than one of us awakens" he whispered to her.

"so we just need to stall now" she said to which Gary nodded.

Battlefield

Ash stared at the pokeball in his hand "I can do this but I'll need your help my friend".

The stadium fell silent waiting for the champion and the challenger to release there pokemon, then finally the referee yelled out "battle begin!".

Ash and Max both released there pokemon and no one was surprised who Max chosen.

There stood a yellow and black mouse with electricity flow from his cheeks the former companion of the champion the pokemon that won him so many battles, the one he had so many memories with his former Pikachu.

The champion chose a pokemon of great power and speed one he released a many years ago it was his Pidgeot this one had scars on his body and a piece of it's mane was covering the left eye.

Max smirked "I'm guessing those injuries came from your stupidity".

Ash looked up at his pokemon, Pidgeot looked back at the champion giving him a nod "yeah it was because of my stupidity but those scars and mine are reminder of who we are as a team" he said lifting his shirt to reveal three scars running down his side.

"This should be easy Pikachu" the boy confidently said, but he saw the mouse pokemon keep his guard up.

"Go Pidgeot steel wing" the champion said the bird dove down as quick as possible.

"Pikachu keep it at a distance and use thunderbolt" Max commanded but the yellow mouse disobeyed and charge Pidgeot with an iron tail.

Both pokemon collided at the center with the moves, making a loud metal clank sound but just as quickly Pikachu went crashing into the ground. The dust settled around Pikachu to reveal it barely able to stand, he gritted his teeth while staring down his old friend.

"Pikachu!" the pokemon turned to Max he was fuming with anger "don't disobey me again or that'll happen again we need to work together to take them down" the boy said.

The yellow fur ball looked at Ash and then at Pidgeot, "Pika!" he said with electricity coming from his cheeks.

Max smiled "alright Pikachu thunderbolt" he said with a commanding voice. Pikachu did as told and shot a powerful thunderbolt at Pidgeot but the flying pokemon was able to dodge it by soaring high into the air.

"Of course you would run away!" Max shouted to Ash.

Ash grinned at him "you really still have a lot to learn Max" he looked to Pidgeot "now us sky attack!".

Pidgeot charged his attack with a bright light blinding everyone in the stadium.

"What the hell is up with this light" Max said squinting his eyes "Pikachu randomly shoot off thunderbolts now".

The mouse with his eyes closed was randomly firing off the electric attack but not a single one could hit Pidgeot.

"Now Pidgeot show them your power" Ash said, he watched his flying type dive towards Pikachu.

"Pikachu don't be afraid of it go for it volt tackle!" the young trainer shouted. Pikachu didn't hesitate he ran towards before jumping up into the air where his electric type of started.

The two old friends neared each other they looked at each other with passion in there eyes flashbacks of there first time meeting, the battles they cheered each other, the countless hours of training and the goodbye.

"Now Pikachu add iron tail to the attack!" Max yelled.

The mouse obeyed doing a flip adding iron tail hoping this would be enough compared to his opponents attack.

Everyone watched in silenced as the two pokemon collided instantly followed by a huge explosion.

Max looked towards the cloud of dust awaiting to see which pokemon would come out okay but he looked down at the champion and gritted his teeth "why couldn't you just have kept your promise".

Flashback 6 Years Ago

A 8 year old Max ran home with excitement, he just finishing watching Ash compete in the Unova league he couldn't wait to get one the phone with him it had been months since he last spoke to his idol.

"Hey mom I'm gonna use the phone to call Ash" he said with enthusiasm in his voice.

"Sweetie are you sure thats a good idea he did just lose" his mother said.

"Nah it'll be fine Mom, Ash is rarely ever feeling down" the boy was going to let anything stop him from talking to his friend.

There he sat at the phone waiting for Ash to pick up but after about 10 minutes the boy hung up and tried again this time he got the boy he was looking for.

"Hey Ash hows it going! are you doing well? oh man that battle you had with Cameron was great" he said.

He didn't get a response almost as if Ash was somewhere else entirely.

"Ash" he asked unsure of what was wrong.

"Listen Max I'm sorry, I'm not really in the mood to talk with anyone right now" Ash said with his eyes looking elsewhere.

Max was a bit hurt by this Ash always wanted to talk to the boy no matter what. "Yeah sure talk later" He said quietly he was hoping Ash would notice but he didn't the boy hung up without a second thought.

"Max sweetie how was your talk with Ash was he doing okay" his mother asked.

The young boy's eyes started to swell up with tears and he just ran off without a saying a word.

He just kept running into the forest behind the family gym not looking or caring where he was running to. He stopped at the edge of a lake looking at his reflection "I was stupid to think Ash would stay friends with a kid" he said throwing a rock at the lake.

Then suddenly without waring a raging Gyarados appeared from under the water.

Max put two and two together the rock must have hit the pokemon as it swam by, now he was taken over by fear.

He closed his eyes as the water type moved his head downwards, but then he heard a loud bang followed by the cry of Gyarados.

"You can open your eyes now Max" he heard a voice.

He did so and was shocked it was the rival of his idol, the grandson of professor Oak it was Gary Oak.

"Gary the famous Gary Oak" he said shocked to see someone as famous as him in the middle of the Hoenn region, but then he was confused "how do you know my name?" he asked.

"Don't worry about that Max, what you should really be asking why Ash blew you off the way he did" the brown haired boy said.

"Has he been watching me the whole time?" Max thought to himself. "I should really getting going know thank you for your help" he said turning his back and getting ready to jolt.

"Wouldn't you like to make him pay for not keeping his promise to you" Gary said this made the boy turn around to him.

"Okay now how would you know about that" he really wanted to know, he could feel something was off with the boy.

"I know Ash better then anyone else in the world" he said.

"Yeah so I know Ash he is gonna keep his promise!" Max shouted.

"No he won't he'll abandon you just like he did me and all of his other friends, he cares about one thing only and thats becoming champion" he said.

Max was shocked "could he be right? was Ash really that type of person this whole time" the boy was now having doubts about the boy he idolized the one his spent time traveling the Hoenn region with.

Gary could feel the boys doubt "perfect" he thought to himself as he started to manipulate the young boys mind with his aura.

Max feel to his knees feeling this sudden headache "ahh it's true he is a selfish person, this entire time he only thought of himself" he said grasping his head.

"Yes but we'll teach him a lesson" Gary said extending a hand towards the boy "we'll make you ten times stronger than him" Max grabbed his hand with a smile.

End of Flashback

Max saw Pikachu falling towards him soon followed by the champion's pokemon "I won't lose to you" he thought to himself. "Pikachu! thunderbolt!" he shouted.

The electric shot a powerful thunderbolt towards PIdgeot then to the shock of the entire stadium the attack connected it was followed by the cry of the powerful bird.

Both pokemon fell the ground, Pikachu didn't let go of the attack.

"Yes keep it up Pikachu fry that damn bird" Max said clearly happy with the way the battle has turned.

"Pidgeot break free" The champion said without concern.

Max was shocked just as the champion command the bird flapped his wings and broke the thunderbolt with ease. "How! how could you have gotten this strong with such weak pokemon!" he shouted towards the champion.

Ash smirked "because I've stuck to who I'm truly am" he said.

"I refuse to believe that, Pikachu use thunderbolt full power!" he shouted.

Pikachu launched the attack, "Pidgeot air slash" Ash said.

Pidgeot launched the sharp flying type move towards the thunderbolt and it easily sliced right through it and hit Pikachu directly.

The mouse laid there not fainted but not having enough energy to continue.

Max suddenly felt pain coming from his body "what is this hot feeling" he fell to his knees holding onto himself.

Gary smirked from the stands "finally" he thought.

Ash saw from a distance the red aura flowing from the boys body "it's happening" he thought but something was off Misty wasn't acting like this at all.

Suddenly Max let out a scream and it was follow by a gust of strong wind this went on for about 5 minutes then finally Max looked up to meet Ash stare with bright crimson eyes he smirked "let the real battle begin".

Sorry about the short chapter I rushed it a bit but hopefully you enjoy.
