Neon Genesis Evangelion
Potential Paradise: Fighting without pain
The Angel destroyed eighteen layers of armor leading into the Geo-Front…and then destroyed the remaining layers.
Asuka, in Unit-02, was prepared to assault the Angel and dispose of it on her own.
"Here we go!" She shouted, raising her rifle up and shooting at the Angel. "Ha-ha-ha!"
But the Angel wasn't affected by the pellets that hit it. When she realized this, Asuka threw the spent rifle away and picked up two rocket launchers and began firing away at it again. Yet, the Angel continued to stand where it landed, as if mocking her with its might.
"Next!" Asuka grunted, picking up another rocket launcher. I should be neutralizing its AT-Field, right?! Why won't it just fall already?!
The Angel, obscured by the smokescreen created by the persistent firing Asuka had done, made its attack then. Unfurling its upper limbs, it unleashed two, razor-thin tentacles that looked like toilet paper.
SLICE! They cut right through the Eva's shoulders, sending its arms flying off and spraying purple blood.
"Aaaaurgh!" Asuka screamed from the intense pain the synchronization caused her. "Verdammt! I'll get you!"
She rushed towards the Angel; there was not a single thought of avoiding its next attack in her mind, just her driven by her desire for revenge.
"Asuka, no!" Misato's voice yelled through the intercom. "Quick! Disconnect her nerve connections now!"
The next thing Asuka realized, all she could see was the inside of her Entry Plug, not the Angel in front of her or the outside the Eva.
THUNK! Something hit her Eva and all there was left to hear was silence.
All she could do was sit in her plug and wonder what was going to happen now that there were no other Evas or pilot to fight the Angel.

"Damn it," Misato uttered.
"We're doomed," went Hyuga. "Asuka was our only pilot."
Suddenly, Misato's phone beeped; she had received a text at a terrible time.
"Help is on the way", it read, and it was sent by Shinji.
What? She wondered.
"What are those things?" Shigeru asked, pointing to a small number of flying spheres with what looked like eyeballs on them.
They had to be around the size of cars and just flew into the Geo-Front through the hole the Angel came through and began unleashing streams of…glitter or atomized matter or something of the sort.
"They're…building something," expressed Maya.
Whatever the spheres were making, it was as big as the Angel…and had a tail.
"You gotta be kidding me," Kaji uttered, disbelieving what he was seeing.
Facing the Angel was a massive, mechanical, dinosaur-like creature that was wearing a blue rocket launcher on its back.
"Mechagodzilla?" Hyuga gasped. "I'm in a Godzilla film."
"Uh, Galaxy Megazord, anyone?" Shigeru asked, seeing the spheres creating another giant robot that had more colors and more animal motifs.
As the second robot was being completed, the spheres were at work on creating a third robot. This one resembled a robot inspired by off-terrain vehicles with bits of futuristic bravado or something of the sort.
"Oh, come on," went Kaji, recognizing the machine that was being created. "That's Striker Eureka from Pacific Rim."
"It looks like Shinji found a way to provide his own variation of aid," Misato stated, wondering what Shinji discovered on his space station that could do this.
Gendo, on the other hand, was infuriated by the sight of these…these disgraceful toys that his son sent to intervene.

Holographic and nanotechnological rapid construction of remote-controlled constructs. To Shinji, after he invited Toji and Kensuke to where he and Rei were in the space station's core, this was playing video games in the real world. But this was a video game with real-world stakes involved, which meant that any wrong move would spell disaster.
Shinji, deciding to control the Mechagodzilla unit, took charge and decided that the nanotech construct needed to be a combination of strength and durability.
Kensuke, impressed by the technology he was seeing, as it was like something that was decades or centuries into the future, despite being hundreds of years old, decided to control the Galaxy Megazord since it was something he used to enjoy in his younger days before he became a military otaku.
And Toji, who saw the Pacific Rim film with his sister two years ago, wanted to create Striker Eureka and be like the heroes of the film because they had the fastest machine available.
"Everyone, do what you do," Shinji told them, and on their individual platforms, they ran towards the holographic Angel.
Covered in holographic representations of their chosen constructs, the three friends approached the enemy.

Ejecting her Entry Plug, Asuka saw three giant robots from old films and television programs engaging the Angel.
"What the Hell?" She uttered as disbelief was present in her tone. "How is this possible?"
The Galaxy Megazord materialized a sword and swung it at the Angel, managing only to hit it on its left side.
Striker Eureka's chest opened up and unleashed a barrage of rockets at the Angel's back.
Mechagodzilla fired more rockets from the cannons on its shoulders and on its back, adding to the barrage unleashed by Striker Eureka, before it collided with the Angel, sending it to the ground where the Angel tried to counterattack with its paper-thin limbs.
CLANG! One of them collided with the Galaxy Megazord's sword.
"I don't believe this!" Asuka gasped, watching as Striker Eureka charged towards the Angel and aimed a right hook towards its exposed core. "They don't even have AT-Fields!"
THUNK! The giant robot's hand was stopped dead in its impact by a membrane that closed around the core.
"Your turn, Shinji," she heard one of the stooges' voice come from the off-terrain robot, and the Mechagodzilla was suddenly turning a different shade of gray, almost silver.
"Let's see if you can block this!" She heard Shinji's voice as the Mechagodzilla charged towards the Angel, a blade materializing on its right arm.
PIERCE! It cut right into the membrane of the Angel and caused a small stream of blood to gush out from underneath the core.

"…Uh, Mechagodzilla just caused some damage to the Angel that was more potent than what Unit-02 attempted to do," Hyuga informed Misato and Gendo.
"Son of a bitch," went Shigeru as he watched Striker Eureka's armor covering turn the same shade of gray as Mechagodzilla as it unsheathed its own wrist blades, stabbing the lower section of the Angel where the stubby legs were.
"What is this," Ritsuko questioned, "some sort of adaptable nanotechnology?"
"If it is, it's better than what the Evas are currently capable of," Maya admitted.
Gendo watched as these…these disgraceful behemoths that embarrassed NERV by being real-live versions of what was put on television for entertainment purposes. Nothing was going the way it was supposed to! Not only was the Third Child not in the Eva, but the First Child had abandoned him, as well. And now, they were being dependent upon these children that were relying on worthless parlor tricks to save them.
"It's all you, Kensuke!" They heard Shinji's voice come out of the Mechagodzilla, and the Megazord's sword blade turned the same silver tint as the other two robots had.
"Take this!" They heard another boy's voice as the Megazord slashed at the Angel's core surrounding, cutting it out of the Angel's body halfway, as it was still connected to the being by several strands of muscle mass.
"Maybe it is adaptive nanotechnology," Kaji uttered. "Wouldn't the point of nanotechnology be to be adaptive and able to overcome certain obstacles in the way of advancing forward? And just now, like they showed it in the films or television shows, all of those tiny machines got together and built three giant robots. It's impressive."
"Hey, Shinji, does your robot come with an Absolute Zero system like it did in the film?" They heard one of the other voices ask Shinji.
Suddenly, the Mechagodzilla's chest opened up and revealed some sort of cannon behind three folding panels.
"I love being able to fight without pain," they heard Shinji say, and a bright ball of electric-like energy shot out of its chest, impacting the Angel…and transforming it into…ice? "And I'm gonna enjoy this, too."
Mechagodzilla then whipped its tail around the Angel's frozen body…and caused it to crumble into millions of shards.
"He turned the Angel into ice," Misato expressed, "and shattered it like it was nothing."
"The Angel's blue pattern…is gone," went Maya.
"We were expecting the Eva to win," said Shigeru, "and instead, we get saved by three action figures made into giants."
Seconds later, the three behemoths atomized; apparently, the nanomachines that made up each machine had broken down and reverted back to their base form and were reabsorbed into the spheres that brought them down. The spheres themselves then flew up through the hole the Angel had made and were, presumably, returning to the space station from whence they came.
Gendo frowned at how this had turned out. Now, more than ever, he wanted to make Shinji suffer for this disrespectful act committed against NERV and his mother's memory.

Asuka watched as the Angel had been beaten by three giant robots from fictional media sources and then disappear like they were never there, all the while her Eva was beaten and in severe need of repairs.
"Stupid Shinji and his stupid friends and his stupid space station," she yelled. "This is so not awesome, you showing up and saving the day like this!"
-x-
Exiting the spheres used to remote control the units made from the nanomachines, Shinji, Toji and Kensuke congratulated and high-fived one another over their victory.
"I feel like a hero now," Kensuke admitted.
"Except what we did for the Earth," went Toji, "the people up here will never know fully."
"But we'll know," Shinji stated. "We'll know."
"You three," spoke Rei to them, "were impressive. How did you know that each of your units would suffice against the Angel?"
"In all honesty, Rei," explained Kensuke to her, "we didn't. We just went with our guts and had to hope the nanotechnology Shinji now had access to here would be as adaptable as it was being used by us. It adapted really well and was able to help us defeat the Angel."
"Move over, Evas," Toji uttered. "You're no longer a sound defense against the monsters that knock at our door."
Shinji turned to look at the hologram of his ancestress that gifted him with this space station she had made from a planet and bowed his head to her.
"Thank you again, Senkensa Ikari," he praised her.
"This is your world, Shinji," she responded. "You do your best to preserve it however you see fit. I may be a DNA computer with a holographic projection, but that doesn't make any more or less than a woman from the past that is willing to help you in the present."
Shinji bowed to her again, and her hologram disappeared.
To be continued…
A/N: Sorry this took so long to get back to, and I'm sorry if this chapter didn't live up to your expectations. I wanted to try something new that would be likely possible because it's the same sort of science that likes to be theorized in real life, but has better results in make-believe. And ancient technology that's considered more advanced than anything on Earth right now would be most effective against a threat that requires people to use something that isn't guaranteed to work well due to its own flaws. Until next time, everyone.
