James Potter has held many titles in his life. He's a wizard, a Pure Blood in fact, A Marauder, a Gryffindor, Quidditch Captain 5th, 6th, and 7th year. He was even Head Boy his 7th year. He still doesn't understand Dumbledore's logic behind that one. However he will always be grateful for the year he spent as Head boy. The time he got to work alongside the Head Girl and the fond memories they both share. That year was the best year of his life despite all the success he has had since Hogwarts that was still by far the happiest he has ever been. He was just voted Sexyest Wizard alive. (Which Sirius Black, James best mate begs to differ) But here lately everyone in the wizarding world knows him as
James Potter: Chaser for Puddlemere United, World Cup MVP.
James loved everything about his job as a Quidditch star. From practices, games, workouts in between, banquets, and even the charitable functions. He shows up with a smile on his face and puts his all into whatever he does.
But one thing about his job he did not enjoy. The Press. The reporters always seemed to twist his words. Always wanting to pry into his personal life. Never wants to just talk quidditch. I mean that's why he was there after all to talk about the game. Not talk about who the blond was so and so saw him talking to for five minutes a month and a half ago.
However that is where James finds himself right now. Talking to a reporter for Witch Weekly. To James this reporter was nothing spectacular. She was in her mid twenties. Couldn't be much older than he was. She had Long curly brown hair that went down past her shoulders. A Unique shade of blue eyes which one could say were stunning if they've never seen the green eyes of Lily Evans before. In all honesty if James would let go of the idea that Lily was coming back he would say this reporter was gorgeous.
"James Potter!" The reporter greeted him as he walked into her small office. He looked at her outstretched hand and quickly shook it "It's so nice to finally meet you! I'm Cassandra White You can call me Cass if you like." James greeted her with a small smile and a "The pleasure is all mine miss." and followed her into the office which consisted of a desk and two overly stuffed chairs that gave the notion of comfort so one would one feel like they can open up more. Cass was the first to sit down in one of the two chairs. James followed suit and sat down in the other. The chair though may look comfy but James would disagree it was too soft. The kind of soft that hurt after awhile.
Cass started to set up a recording device. "I'm sorry I hope you don't mind. I'm muggleborn and I find it a lot easier to get everything right if i can go back and listen to what you actually said instead of going off of memory or using one of the silly Quills Rita uses." James was taken aback maybe the interview wouldn't be as bad as his others he has had in the past.
"Oh no that's fine" James said eying the device. She sat it on the table between them "I'm actually fascinated by muggle devices to be honest"
Cass smiled at him " As most Pure-Blood Wizards are. Just make sure you say off the record when you don't want something in the article otherwise it's fair game" James nodded in understanding.
"First off Congrats on winning the World Cup you must be thrilled. What are your thoughts about the game James?" Ms. White began.
This interview has been scheduled for weeks now. He rescheduled it at least three times. Again James hates dealing with the press. And he would have rescheduled again if it wasn't for his "Agent." Sirius Black as mentioned before was James best mate. He calls himself James agent so he doesn't feel obligated to pay James rent or pay for anything for that matter. To be honest James didn't mind. Money wasn't an issue for James. Coming from one of the wealthiest wizarding families and being a quidditch player James had money. And it wasn't as if Sirius was poor. He was a Black after all. But James let Sirius have his fun. Let him think he contributed.
"Thank you! It's been a dream I still can't believe all this is happening. The Game itself was a blast. It's always fun for me when we play against the Harpies. As a kid growing up they were kinda like a rival to me." James Joked.
The reporter was writing things down. As he talked. James found it odd that even though she had it on recording she was still taking notes "Oh! Nice so you don't like the Harpies?"
"No! No! I didn't say that. As a kid my Father took me to a Puddlemere United game and well they won. So they became my favorite Team. However they lost the World Cup to the Harpies that year. The Harpies became my least favorite Team. " James tried to explain. Hoping this wouldn't get twisted like the time he was talking about his fellow chaser and comparing their tactics and how he learns from observing other players and tries out their tricks. How that makes him a better player. Somehow that became James thought he was better than his fellow chaser. Whose name was Jack Parker. James had to do damage control. And explain what happened in the end Parker understood how reporters are and let James off the hook.
"I understand. You say you've always been a Puddlemere fan? What was your reaction when they signed you? Would you say this was a dream come true? Have you alway wanted to play professionally?" James was thankful she didn't charm her quill to take notes. Too often he was distracted by the quickness of the quill when they fired so many questions at him at one he didn't know how to respond.
James thought about the day he was signed by Puddlemere. The first person he told. How excited she was for him. How he transfigured his Gryffindor jersey into a Puddlemere jersey with his name on the back and gave it to her. How he told her she was his number one fan that she would be the first person to wear his jersey. And how he felt when she told him she would proudly wear his name. Even if she would rather it be a Harpies jersey "Yes ma'am I've always wanted to play Quidditch. Never thought I'd actually be here though. I couldn't believe it when I got a letter from puddlemeres coach asking me to join the team" James answered cautiously. He knew if they misquoted him about the Harpies he would be in some Hot water.
"Hmm. Now tell me if you weren't a Quidditch star. What would you be doing with your life James?"
"Oh that's an easy one. I'd be an Auror just like my dad. I'd probably be married now or at least engaged." James could have smacked himself. He didn't want to talk about his personal life. Why did he bring it up?! He couldn't help it he couldn't stop thinking about a certain redhead. He wished he knew where she was now. What she's been doing. He hoped she was following her dreams. After all if it wasn't for her he would never have pursued Quidditch.
"We always see you flying solo at functions. Why is that James? Surely there is a special lady in your life." Oh Cass you have no idea James thought. If he could see her again to get her attention somehow. James knew in his heart he would never lose her again. James then got an idea. Maybe he could use his connection as a public figure to his advantage.
"May I say something off the record? I might have a proposition for you."
Intrigued the reporter paused her recorder and put her quill down. "Of course."
James sighed he wasn't sure if this idea was brilliant or was desperate but he had to take a chance this was Lily after all. "There's this girl."
"OH! There is a special lady!" Cass cut him off excitedly and folded her legs under herself pressing record on the device and listening intensely.
James smiled. "Well kind of. I haven't seen her since Hogwarts. I have no idea where she's at. What she has been doing. Her friend tells me she is well and happy. However I have no way of contacting her. I've tried to owl her but my owl comes straight back with the letter I sent unopened. All I want to do is to see her. To tell her what she means to me. It's been 3 years and I have thought about her every single day since." James looks down at his hands in his lap feeling his heart break with every word he spoke.
"So what's this proposition of yours, Mr. Potter?"
"I will give you this story. You'll allow me to propose a meeting with this girl through your interview. And if she shows up you get the first interview and photo shoot of us."
"Oh that's good!" The reporter exclaimed. "And the wedding. Merlin knows if you James Potter are willing to bear you heart and sole in a magazine. A witch would be insane to let you go!" James couldn't help but to smile at this and agreed if there was a wedding Cassandra White would be covering it.
"Oh and I want to read this before you publish it." He quickly added. They finished up the interview and Cass told him she would get right on this story. To give her a couple of hours and she'll get back with him. "I want to get this out as soon as I can. I'm really excited about this James. As a friend you must tell me what happens. As a reporter you must tell me what happens. Oh and your photo shoot is in about five minutes by the way.
"ugh do I have to be shirtless?" James complained. And thought maybe Pete was onto something the more butterbeers you consume the bigger belly you have the less naked photoshoots you have to lower yourself to do.
The reporter, without looking up from her notes "YES! Now go."
