The story takes place right after the season 10 finale, after Dean killed Death, the Mark of Cain was removed and Darkness was released into the world. I mentioned before, new characters will be added and thrown in the story and I will bring back several former characters from the show in the upcoming future.
Chapter 123 Date Night
Time had passed as Sam was now back in his cheap motel room thinking about the day he spent with Gwen. He enjoyed every moment of it, from walking in the park, throwing coins in the fountain making a wish, sitting for what seemed like forever in that gazebo with her just to the two of them. Even taking that photo taken of them by that nice old lady. Sam decided to let Gwen keep the photot even though a part of him wished he could also have a photo of them together just to remember their nice day together. After about 15 minutes relaxing on the bed, he suddenly remembered about Dean, Adam and Charlie, so he quickly rose up, pulled out his iphone and called Dean while sitting up on his bed. Dean answered and they talked a bit but by this time Ava had arrived at the bunker and was getting settled in. He also got to talk to Adam and Charlie a bit for a few minutes before speaking to Dean again. They didn't talk long so Sam just told his brother to say hello to Ava for him and they hung up.
He was at least happy that Dean took his advice and is getting to spend some time with Ava and see where it would lead to just like him and Gwen. Sam placed his iphone on the dresser and laid down on the bed to get some rest as he didn't feel like watching any television and realized he was more tired than he thought after his day with Gwen. Sam slept on longer than he expected since when he woke up, he saw that it was almost 6:00 in the evening. With that, he just quickly got up from his bed and went into the bathroom to wash up quickly at the sink. Then he dried himself off and changed his shirt, combed and brushed his hair although, he doesn't normally groom himself this much but since he's going out with Gwen again tonight, he made an exception. Afterwards, he turned on the TV to watch some of the news before Gwen arrived and he realized he was both hungry and thirsty, but he couldn't do anything about that now but just wait until Gwen arrived. Gwen did show up at almost 7:15 like she said and was still wearing the same outfit from today.
"Well, I hope you're ready and set" she told him after they greeted each other when he opened the door.
"All set" Sam told her.
After some small talk they two headed for the car and within moments, Gwen drove them back to her house. It was a little after 7:30 when they entered her home and walked into the hall as Madame Bess went over to greet both of them.
"Hello again, good to see you dear boy" she said as she rushed over to give Sam a little friendly hug.
Sam hugged her right back, "Good to see you again too ma'am" he told her.
Then she led them both into the living room and they all sat down.
"Would you like me to get your something to drink?" she asked him.
"Well, I wouldn't mind some juice or soda" Sam replied although he was thirsty for some beer, but he knew Madam Bess didn't have any of that.
"Very well, I shall return" she said and got up to go into the kitchen while Sam and Gwen just waited talking a bit to each other. Within a couple of minutes, Madame Bess returned with a glass full of iced tea and handed it to him.
"I'm all out of juice or soda, got to go grocery shopping very soon but I do have some iced tea if you don't mind" she told him.
"No, that's okay, thanks very much ma'am" Sam told her as he drank his iced tea even though it wasn't what he preferred.
Then Madame Bess sat down on the chair and they began to chat a bit.
"Gwen told me you two had such a nice time at the Irvine Park and looked at some historic houses too" she told him.
"Yeah, we did, I will say the tour was quite educational as well as fun, Gwen is quite the tour guide, she told me how you had explored places that were haunted by spirits and even helped them crossover, I didn't have any idea you did you own hunting ghosts" Sam told her.
"Well, I never thought about it as hunting just putting troubled spirits to rest but now that I think about it, yes I guess I did do a little bit of hunting in a way sometimes with the help of my granddaughter here" said Madame Bess as Gwen just looked a bit bashful. "But I would never be as good as you and your brother dear, with hunting all kinds of creatures I didn't even knew exist" she finished.
"Okay, I have to get ready for my date, so I'm going up to take a quick shower and change" Gwen said.
"Yes, dear from you two are going out to a nice restaurant for dinner" Madame Bess said with a smile.
"Yes, that's right and we may just take a stroll around the town afterwards, anyway, please excuse me. I won't be long just keep him busy Grandmom, I'm sure there's a lot of you two like to catch up" said Gwen as she got up from the couch where she was sitting next to Sam and left the living room to head up the stairs.
"Well, do hurry dear" cried out Madame Bess as Gwen left.
After Gwen exited the room and was upstairs, Madame Bess than turned to Sam. "You know Sam dear, now that we're alone, I was hoping to take this time to discuss with you about your relationship with my granddaughter" she told him.
Sam just swallowed nervously worried about what she had to say as he knew in the past, she hadn't been too thrilled about his growing relationship with Gwen and he feared she still wasn't and was going to give him a lecture about how her concerns.
"What would you like to discuss about us, me and Gwen?" Sam trying hard not to sound nervous.
"Well, I will admit that when I first saw that there was this attraction between two of you back in that other world, I was concerned and quite weary of the whole thing" she told him.
"Yeah, I know, Gwen mentioned it to me in the past but…" Sam didn't have a chance to finish his sentence.
"Please, let me finish what I'm about to say" Madame Bess cut in.
"Okay" said Sam trying to remain calm.
"Anyway, I feared this thing that was happening between the two of you wouldn't work, as I worried that after getting so attached that once we return to our world we would have to go our separate ways and may never see one another again and Gwen would just get hurt. Of course, we did see you guys again and even helped you with your case involving that witch Rowena and so much happened between you and my granddaughter already, I knew your feelings for each other was growing even stronger. And now with this plan for the two of you to just see each other whenever you can to explore what this thing between the two of you will lead to. I have to say I wasn't on board with this idea and still have concerns. Afterall, Sam, me and Gwen live here and you and your brother live way out in Kansas. Plus, there is the fact that you are a hunter, and the way you live involves danger, hunting and killing monsters, demons, getting rid of evil sprits and all. Now don't me wrong, I think what the and your brother are doing is admirable, and we've already shared in some of your cases and would always be happy to help whenever we could, but I do have to admit, a do have reservations on how this relationship could work with these odds. I mean have you considered how are you going to be able to have room for Gwen in your life? Have you thought about any of this? I know my granddaughter is the kind of woman who when she gives you her heart she really gives it to you, so I need to know what exactly do you stand in all of this where Gwen is concerned?" Madame Bess replied real serious.
Sam listened to everything she said and it brought back all the uncertainties he was feeling about this relationship with Gwen but he just swallowed again and decided to answer truthfully as possible.
"Well, you know ma'am, I really do care about Gwen. She is the first woman I've really come to care about in a long time now. I admit, I too had your concerns, with me being a hunter and all and living so far away. I thought a lot about it and even at one point considered not seeing Gwen anymore because I it would be best for everyone involved. But now after some solid advice from a friend, and remembering what Gwen said, I think if we really do care for one another we should be willing to take the risk and to try and see what happens, just baby steps no quick plans for the long future, just us seeing what happens if this could lead to something and not let keep allowing fear to stop us from doing just that. And I do have to say although a part of me is still a bit uncertain, I don't regret the moments I spent with Gwen at all" Sam told her.
"That is all nice my dear, and I'm glad to hear it and I can actually relate to you as you can see me and Gwen don't live the most conventional lives so I guess I should be glad that Gwen has someone she can relate to on that level. But once again, I have to admit that if Gwen ever met someone that she wanted to have a relationship with I didn't expect that person to be a hunter, of course I didn't know hunters existed than but still I would like her to have some stability and I still can't help have concerns how complicated both your lives will be a little with you globing around the world fighting and killing all kinds of creatures. But the biggest concern is the fact, I know my granddaughter well enough to be aware that they will come a time with you two just seeing each other occasionally when you are not hunting won't be enough anymore. She is going to want something more and I wonder will you be able to give her that if the time comes or are you going to pull away out of fear. I know Sam that you have suffered a lot of loss in the past and I do feel for you, so will that affect your decision to move forward in this relationship in the future? I think it's important that you think about this now before it comes to that" replied Madame Bess in a motherly tone.
Sam once again was in deep thought remembering what Gwen talked to him about. Her plans to move down to Kansas if it ever came to them being sure that they wanted something more lasting in the relationship.
"You know, ma'am, I have to be honest and say I don't know what the future holds between me and Gwen. All I want to do know is just enjoy the time with her I have right now and if it came to a time where we wanted something more than just seeing each other occasionally than we will deal with it then, I can promise you that" he said reluctant to tell her about Gwen's idea to move away to be near him.
Madame Bess just had a thoughtful look on her face and then she gave Sam a look as if she knew he wasn't telling her everything.
"You know Sam, I did know someday that my granddaughter might meet a man that she would want to spend her life with and I'm aware that if she really believed that person was the one, she would move heavens and earth to be with him, so I do understand" she told him as if she was hinting that she was aware of the fact Gwen would consider leaving her to be with Sam.
Had Gwen and her grandmother already discussed this or did she just guess, Sam couldn't tell.
"I understand" he said.
"I only just want her to find the right man that she could be happy with. That's all that matters to me, if she meets that special man, that is" she continued.
"I get it, ma'am, I just want Gwen to be happy too" was all that Sam could say.
"That's nice dear" Madame Bess told him.
They talked a bit for a while and about a half our later, Gwen finally came downstairs now having changed her clothes. She was now dressed in a nice blue sleeveless, off shoulder ruffle layered chiffon ankle-length dress and matching blue shoes. Her hair now just down parted on the right side of her head as she removed the hair clips. She was all dolled up with makeup wearing ruby red lipstick and had on jewelry from earrings, a neckless and bracelet. Sam just got up looking so amazed as he never seen her look so beautiful not since the dance way back in that alternate world.
"Oh, you look great" Sam said still glaring at her in awe of her beauty.
"Thanks Sam" she just replied a bit bashful.
"Yes dear, you do look quite astonishing, I might say too" replied Madame Bess who too got up from where she was sitting.
Gwen just walked over to Sam who also got closer to her and could smell perfume on her which was a nice scent.
"I love you your perfume, it smells good" was all Sam could say as he didn't know what to respond.
"Thank you, glad you like it, it's my favorite. Anyway, we better be going now" she told him.
"Alright" Sam replied.
The two of them walked into the hall straight to the front door as Madame Bess followed.
"Well, have a goodtime tonight dears" Madame Bess replied as they were all at the front door.
"We will grandmom, goodbye" replied Gwen.
"Yeah bye ma'am" Sam said then he opened the door for Gwen and let her go out first as Madame Bess just looked impressed of gentlemanly ways.
The two of them were headed for the car when Sam stopped to tell Gwen something.
"You know Gwen I know this is your car and all but I would like to drive this time" Sam replied.
"You drive, but why?" asked Gwen curiously.
"You know, I'm just a bit traditional that way, I guess where the guy drives, I know that sounds bit old-fashioned and all but after letting you drive earlier I would feel more comfortable driving tonight if you don't mind?" Sam explained.
"But Sam, you're not from this city and wouldn't know how to get where we're heading tonight" said Gwen.
"That's okay, you can give me directions, be my guide and all. I'm quite good with directions" Sam told her.
Gwen paused for a moment. She understood how Sam felt and she was even flattered by his traditional ways in dating even though she didn't mind being the driver but she knew this would make him feel better so she relented.
"Alright Sam, you can the chauffeur tonight and I'll be the guide" she told him as she handed him the keys.
"Thanks Gwen" Sam said who was thinking that he needs to get his own transportation the next time he's here, maybe a rent a car or something.
Sam took the keys and walked Gwen over to the passenger side of the car and opened the door for her as she stepped in. Then he went to the driver's side and soon started the car and the drove off within seconds. They were headed for a nice restaurant downtown that Gwen had told Sam about earlier that day. She gave him directions are where to go as they drove downtown and Sam followed obediently proving what he said about being good at following directions was true. Before they knew it, they were both at the place they wanted to go and parked in the parking lot. They got out and headed for the restaurant where Sam once again being a gentleman, opened the door for Gwen, let her go first. It was a nice restaurant, not too expensive but not really cheap either. They headed for a nice table by the window and Sam waited for Gwen to sit down first before he did out of a gentlemanly gesture and they both looked at the menus on the table. Soon the waitress came over and they ordered a nice dinner meal. They spent their time chatting, laughing and joking like two lovebirds as they waited for the dinner for about fifteen minutes, then continued chatting in between their meals. They stayed at the restaurant for about almost an hour and a half when they decided to head out.
Although Sam offered to pay for the meals again, Gwen insisted on paying her share since Sam payed for everything earlier that day during lunch. Besides she invited him out and would have paid for dinner, but Sam wouldn't let her so he agreed that they both can pay their own way since it saved him some money, besides he didn't feel right splitting the check since his meal cost more than hers. So after they both paid their for their meals, they headed out. Neither of them felt like ending their date just yet, so Gwen convinced him to just take a nice stroll downtown in the city on the sidewalks. They did this while holding hands as they passed by other stores. Soon they found themselves near an ice cream parlor which was still opened and Gwen urged Sam for them to get some ice cream for dessert so they both went in got some ice cream cones, Sam hot fudge and Gwen strawberry. They both ate their cones as they continued strolling downtown on the sidewalk and then sat down on a bench to finish their desserts.
"Hope you're having a nice time tonight" Gwen replied in between eating her cone.
"Yeah, it's been great so far, I'm not complaining" Sam replied as he was finishing up his cone.
"I know just walking around the city doesn't seem all that exciting but I used to love doing this as a kid with my grandmother whenever we went out downtown to go shopping or anywhere. She loved just strolling through city just browsing around and if she saw a store she also liked she go there too to get something. And now as an adult I find it quite romantic especially at night or some reason" Gwen told him.
"Well, like I said before, I'm not complaining. The only thing I enjoy about this night is spending it with you Gwen" Sam told her.
Gwen felt flattered as she gave Sam a smile.
"Hey, me too" she replied right back.
After they finished their ice cream cones, they wiped their mouths with their napkins and then decided to continue their stroll in the city. This time it was Sam who saw a place he liked which was a large bar and heard music playing inside. He practically dragged Gwen to go inside with him and once inside, the place packing with people and there was live music with a band playing on the stage rock and roll music. This was Sam's kind of place even though he wasn't much of a dancer. They enjoyed the music even though Gwen felt a bit uncomfortable at first feeling a bit overdressed in her nice blue dress as the other people there were all dressed casually, but in time she enjoyed the music so much that she forget about her discomfort. In fact, Gwen even encouraged Sam to dance with her as the band continued to play on, some of the people there were dancing to the music. Sam was reluctant but relented for Gwen's sake as they two just danced close to each other sometimes holding each other hands as Sam even twirled Gwen around a few times. During one of the breaks in between, Sam even went over to get a beer since the dancing made him thirsty again and he didn't have any beer or any alcohol beverage at the restaurant.
He made sure not to drink too much as he was going to drive the car back to the motel afterwards. After his drink and both of taking a brief stints in the restrooms, they continued with their dancing to the band. Before both of them knew it, time passed so quickly and the two of them left the bar as it was getting late.
"Wow, a stroll through town, ice cream and then dancing to a live band at a bar, this night was better than I thought it would be" said Gwen as and Sam were holding hands heading back to the car.
"Yeah, same hear. I enjoyed every moment" Sam replied.
"Almost hate for it to end. I could dance the night away" Gwen said.
"I don't know about that Gwen, my feet are sore from at all that dancing" Sam said.
"Yeah but you had fun even if you do have two left feet" Gwen told him slyly.
"Ouch, thanks" Sam said in a mock hurt tone.
"Hey, I'm just repeating what you said" Gwen replied.
"Yeah, but you're suppose to boost my ego or something by telling me I'm not that bad" Sam replied sarcastically.
"Well, I'm all for just telling the truth I guess" Gwen told him jokingly.
The two of them then found the car and got in as Sam drove them back to his motel and by the time they got there it was close to 11:30. They got out of the car as Gwen walked him to his motel room.
"Well thanks for tonight, it was great" Sam told her as they both stood outside his motel room door.
"Yeah, tonight was awesome, the best night I had in a while" Gwen told him as the two of them just stood facing each other real close.
"You know, I could ask you to come inside" Sam told her.
"That's very tempting but I got to get back home as my grandmom would have a fit if I came back real late" she told him.
"You know you are grown up and it's not like we hadn't done anything before" Sam told her.
"Yeah, but I have to be at work tomorrow, I mean she let me have the day off today to spend time with you but I told her I would be in tomorrow and that means I have to get up early in the morning" Gwen explained.
"Okay, I understand, so I will see you tomorrow after you get off work" Sam told her.
"Yes, see you tomorrow" Gwen said.
Then the two leaned in and kissed each other. Before they knew it the kissed each other long and passionately and the next thing they knew they were both inside his motel room and soon were undressing each other. Gwen briefly pulled away to remind Sam about using protection and Sam pulled out a condom from a drawer and headed to the bathroom to put it now in his underwear as Gwen waited. She had used birth control that morning as she bought a bottle in a store not too long after she and Madame Bess returned home from the bunker to be prepared just in case Sam agreed to them continuing to see each other as she felt that he would or she really hoped he would. After Sam came back out of the room, they both finished undressing and then were on the bed making love like two passionate lovers. Afterwards, they just cuddled together in bed and talked for a bit. Then Gwen remembered her grandmother and glanced at her watch real quick to see that the time was almost fifteen minutes after midnight and then quickly sat up.
"Oh no, the time, I have to get back home straight away!" she cried out and then sprang out of bed real fast turned on the light and started looking for her dress and her undergarments.
"You know, you can just spend the night here and just drive back home early the next morning just in time to wash up and change. I'm sure she'll understand" Sam explained as he really didn't wish for Gwen to leave and wasn't comfortable her driving back so late anyway.
But Gwen just shook her head. "No, I it's better I just get going. She'll be upset enough already I stayed out this late but to spend the whole night" she told him as she started getting real quick.
Then Sam got up from his bed and pulled on his underwear and pants and then helped Gwen with her dress.
"Okay, if you really think you should although you're still welcomed to stay here" Sam told her.
"Thanks for understanding Sam, I really need to get back" she told him.
After she finished dressing, she grabbed her purse and then Sam walked her to the door as Gwen turned to him again before leaving.
"Tonight was really great Sam. I will call you tomorrow at work I promise you and make plans on what to do together" she told him.
"I will be looking forward to it" Sam said.
Then the two started kissing again to say goodnight for real this time. Then Sam opened the door for her as she walked out.
"Goodnight Sam" said Gwen turning to him again.
"Night Gwen" Sam replied back and Gwen turned back around and left heading towards her car and got inside.
Sam just stood at the door and watched as she drove away into the night then closed the door and went back inside, turned off the lights and went back to bed. Gwen made it back home only to find the lights turned off and the living room empty and this meant her grandmother already retired to bed. It was a little after 12:30 a.m and her grandmother retires to bed at 11:00 and has the lights outs and TV off by 11:30. Relieved not to face, she just walked upstairs real quietly like a teenager who stayed past her curfew. She walked through the upstairs hallway and passed her grandmother's bedroom which was dark to get to hers and she figured her grandmother must be in bed. Just as she was nearly to her bedroom, she heard a creaking sound as if someone was up and turned around to see her grandmother's bedroom light come on and heard her grandmother's voice.
"Gwen, it's that you?" she asked as she came out of her groom now in her nightgown and her hair pinned up.
Gwen was so disappointed that her grandmother got up as she was so close to making it to her bedroom without her knowing.
"Yes, I'm sorry I woke you grandmom, I just got back" she told her.
Madame Bess soon turned on the hall light switch near her bedroom door and just gave Gwen stern look.
"You know, it's half past midnight dear, I know you're grown and all and you were having a nice time out with Sam, but you should have at least called to let me know you be late. Plus, you do have to be at work tomorrow, you should have used wiser judgment to be at home at a more decent hour" she told her granddaughter.
"I know Grandmom, but I was enjoying so much time with Sam that time just passed by. I mean we did so much tonight out downtown, we never had so much fun we just forget the time. I do know I shouldn't have stayed out this late when I have to get to work tomorrow and you're right I should have at least called to let you know that I was going to be late. But I assumed you were bed already and I didn't want bother you and thought I just get home and get into bed" Gwen explained a bit nervously.
"You mean sneak in like some teenager?" Madame Bess replied disapprovingly.
"Yes, I guess so" said Gwen with a guilty look.
"Hey, I was young too and I remember what it's like believe me and this is your first relationship with a man in a while now and all the feelings that go with it can be consuming but you still have to behave responsibly Gwen" said Madame Bess.
Gwen just nodded her head. "I know grandmom, I promise the next time…" she said but Madame Bess just interrupted her.
"I know, it won't happen again. Never mind that all just go to bed now" said she replied.
"Okay, goodnight grandmother" Gwen said relieved it was over and she prepared to head to her room.
"But Gwen" cried out her grandmother as Gwen turned back around.
"Yes, grandmom?" she answered.
"I just hope you and Sam used protection during your night out" replied Madame Bess.
"What?" Gwen said taken aback.
"You know, practicing safe sex as they say. That's the responsible thing to do" said Madame Bess.
'Grandmom!" cried out Gwen still surprised at her grandmother's remark.
"Oh, come now, you don't think I don't know what you've been up to Gwen. I don't even have to be a psychic to know that, dear, I'm not some clueless old lady stuck in the dark ages as you think. Plus, I know about the birth control pills you bought. Anyway, I'm going to assume you did and we will talk about it all tomorrow, night dear" said Madame Bess as she switched off the light and headed back to her bedroom.
Gwen just stood there looking dumbfounded and just went to her bedroom to retire for bed.
