A.N: Requested prompt

Thanks for the idea!

Hades sat down on his thrown reluctantly, staring down at his…son…who had requested a meeting with him, in which Hades had no idea why. Nico was currently bowing as low as possible, his knees scraping against the uneven flooring of the palace. Persephone, who sat at Hades' right, didn't even try to hid her disgust for the boy. Her nose scrunched up as she made a point to never look him in the eyes.

"You can rise." Hades ordered, wanting to get the meeting done as soon as possible.

Nico stood up slowly, moving is dark locks of hair out of his eyes and tucking them behind his ears. The same hair as Bianca….as Maria….

Hades shook his head, clearing his thoughts. Ever time he laid eyes on him, he couldn't help but think of his daughter, and of the love of his whole immortal life. Everything would have been different if they had lived, it would have been better. But now, all he had left was his son, who could never seem to do anything correctly. He liked to rebel and break the rules, something Hades refused to tolerate. This seemed to start almost every fight.

"Father,…Lord." Nico corrected, seeing the look on Hades' face. "I-um…I have something, to uh, confess…."

"And what is that?" Hades asked, boring down at his son, who was visibly trembling.

"It's not a mistake, before I say anything," Nico rambled, wrangling his hands together. "I know what I'm talking about, and I know it's absolutely true. And in the mortal world, it's not frowned pone anymore, nor is it illegal. I did my research, Lord-"

"Can you just tell me what it is?" Hades snapped, cutting off his son, who seemed to become too nervous to speak. "Well?"

"I'm gay." Nico blurted out, and as soon as he did, closed his eyes and held his hands up, awaiting a blow, but one never came. Instead, Hades stared down at him in shock, not knowing what to think, or what to do. He did know, though, that it took him a lot of bravery to tell him. He knew that.
"You are what!?" Persephone yelled, causing Nico to snap his eyes open and stare at his stepmother in fear. "I swear, I thought you had been bad enough, but now you-you are homosexual!"
Hades caught the sight of tears starting to make their way out of Nico's eyes before the demigod lowered his head in embarrassment, and in fear. Nico's fist were clenched at his sides, almost drawing blood from his palms. He didn't dare look back up at either of them, but fell down to his knees again, his head hanging so low his hair covered his face from view. But, he was shaking violently.

Hades noticed it all; Persephone did not, but continued to think of rude slurs against him.

"Persephone!" Hades stopped his wife mid-sentence, eyes blazing as he glared at her. 'You will not speak to anybody in this house like that, since it is not your's. And while I have your attention, you may never speak to my son like that. You are not his mother, and there is nothing wrong with being gay! Half the gods are, anyway!"

Nico's head snapped up, his mouth hanging open in shock at what his father had said. Persephone, too, was looking at him like he wasn't even Hades anymore.

Hades didn't look at her, however, but looked down at his son, noticing the tear marks that traced their way down his checks. Hades knew he could never get his original family back, but should be grateful for what he had left: Nico.

"Son, thank you for informing me, you may leave now." Hades said, looking down at him. Nodding, Nico stood up abruptly, ready to get out of the thrown room. When he got to the door, Hades called for him to stop.

"Yes, Lord?" Nico asked, turning back around to face him.

"It's father, not lord." Hades corrected. "And I just thought you would like to know that I am very proud of you. Remember that."

And then, waving his hand, he sent Nico back to camp, where he knew he belonged.
