Zelda got up from her bed slowly as she was still quite sore. After what happened, it was extremely hard to explain to Mayor Bo why that extra room had a huge hole in it. But she couldn't lie to him either. She told him a part of the truth; the monster attacked her. Her guards were extra careful this time making sure she was guarded at all times. Zelda didn't mind that for the moment because she needed to rest and heal.

As Zelda was sitting on the bed, she thought about what Link told her. Apparently, Ilia was more skilled than Zelda had hoped for. After all, Ilia knew the forest just as much as Link did. She followed Zelda and found out where he was staying. After she had left, Ilia waited until she knew for sure that it was Link. And she confronted him not realizing that he was suffering due to the curse. Being in his worst condition, she left screaming and crying; calling him a monster instead of the sweet Link she used to call. It triggered him into depression which woke the darkness inside of him.

Although Zelda was able to help him this time, she knew it wouldn't be long before it came out again. And she needed to be prepared this time. Her powers alone barely saved him this time, and she knew she needed more if she was to completely eradicate the curse. She needed the help of the Spirits of Light. After discussing to Link about her plan, he agreed to go with her to each location, since he's already done so.

The hard part was making the guards go back to the castle to deliver the message. They wouldn't part with her after what had happened. But Link himself showed them his horrifying state. Although they were afraid, it was the hero they adored. As his last request, they granted the two to travel alone.

The village folks were shocked to see Link as he approached them. They cried tears of joy and bestowed him with gifts and love regardless of his current state. It made Link regret not coming beforehand when he still somewhat looked like his old self. But the one he wanted to see most was Ilia, who stayed hidden in her room even on the day they were to leave. As they walked down the dirt road followed by the guards, Link looked back to see his village one last time.

"You'll be able to come back one day." Zelda spoke softly so that only he could hear.

Link sighed and turned back to the road. "Yeah."

They rode in silence until they reached Ordon Spring. Zelda had the troops go out first so that she can speak to Ordona. Link waited by the water's edge as Zelda walked barefoot into the spring.

"Holder of Wisdom, you seek the power of Light."

Zelda held her head high. "Yes. To save the Hero of Hyrule. Please lend him your light so that he may be free of Twilight's Curse."

Ordona's shook its head and leaned closer to Zelda. "The Hero of Hyrule saved the Light Spirits of the land sacrificing his own humanity. We are forever grateful and in debt. We wish upon him our light, but as the darkness is too great, we cannot bestow it upon him. The force of Light and Dark will rip him apart, body and soul."

Zelda bit her lips. "Then bestow it upon me so that I may save him."

Ordona turned to Link and back to her. "You have no darkness in your heart. We can bestow our light upon you. But since you are but a mere human, it may be too great on thy mortal form."

Zelda smiled. "My mortal form is but a form. As long as I can save him, my form matters not."

"Why do you wish to save him so much? Although we are truly in agony to see the hero suffer, he may only suffer until death takes him. When the darkness rise, you only need to use the Light Arrows to subdue him once more. You are only prolonging his suffering."

Zelda hesitated. "Because I owe him that much. I cannot live knowing that I could've done something and not doing it. He saved this land to let us live in peace. Why can we not save him and allow him one more chance at life? Shall we let him die in agony and pain? Shall we let him die alone while he let us live with our loved ones? He did not wish for this cruel fate, but was cruelly thrown into it. Now that he has given us this chance, shall we but let him die in vain?" Zelda sighed. "I once thought about ending his suffering, but that is too cruel of the hero's fate. I cannot live with that guilt. So I ask again, please lend me your powers so that I may save him."

Ordona was silent. Link stood by watching their exchange. Link was upset at first during their conversation, but he understood why the Light Spirits were hesitant. Even if they save him now, there is no guarantee that the darkness inside him might emerged in the future. It is easier just to let the darkness take over, and then kill him.

"Holder of Wisdom, you are truly wise. You have a good heart. I will bestow the light upon you so that you may save the hero of Hyrule. In order to save him, you must collect all of the Light Spirit's powers. But your mortal form cannot bear the powers it holds. I will give you a spiritual seal that will help contain the Light so that you may keep your form."

Zelda stood steady and firm. "Yes, I do."

Ordona twirled in the air before leaning its head down to her. Suddenly, a small glow of light appeared before her. Zelda raised her arms to accept it. It flowed into her chest slowly. As it completely submerged inside her, golden lights traced throughout her body in swirls until it disappeared. In its place, a golden medallion appeared with four slots. One of the slots was filled with a light and a design representing Ordona. Ordona disappeared as Zelda fell to her knees. Link rushed to her and collected her small frame. Her body was hot and she shook violently.

"Zelda!" Link held her close as she found warmth in his arms. "You don't have to do this. Ordona's right. All you have to do is wait until the curse completely consumes me."

Zelda looked up at him and tried to smile while still shaking. "No, I can't do that Link. I already told you, I will save you, even if it means my death."

"No, I can't let you do that." Link said as he sat her down on the grass when she stopped shaking.

Zelda cupped his face with her quivering hands. "Please, Link. I cannot live knowing that I could've saved you. If you think that I cannot do this and try to kill yourself, I will follow you and save you in the underworld."

Link reached up and held her hands where it touched his face. "Why, Zelda? Why are you doing so much for me?"

"Because I – "

Zelda's sentence was cut short when they heard footsteps running towards the spring. Link jolted up in a defensive stance only to see Ilia appear before them.

"Ilia?" Link was taken aback. He stepped around Zelda and walked towards her.

"What was I going to say?" Zelda hid her face in her robe until she could calm down. Then she looked up again after not hearing neither Link nor Ilia speak. They stood about a meter apart, both looking away. Somehow, this made Zelda very uncomfortable watching them like this. The air around them was dense and Zelda felt extremely awkward being in their presence.

Zelda stood up from her spot after gaining her strength. She walked over to them and patted Link's shoulder. "We will be waiting further ahead. Take your time." Then she walked over to Ilia and patted her shoulder, but she couldn't find words to say anything to her. She just walked away.

It wasn't long after Zelda reached the others when Link came running. She bid her guards farewell and mounted her horse. As Link mounted Epona, Zelda noticed a huge burden off his chest. He even had a hint of smile playing across his face.

"I'm guessing something good happened?" Zelda spoke not looking at him as she fixed herself.

"Hmm, yeah." Link smiled gently.

"Care to share? It's going to be a long journey."

Link chuckled. "We made good. No promises though."

Zelda smiled. "We'll have to change that point, don't we?"

"We'll see."

They stopped by Faron Spring to talk to Faron, who was a lot easier to convince once Faron saw Zelda's medallion. After receiving Faron's powers, they continued on. It was miles until they reached Hyrule Field. Zelda heard Link let out a breath of relief as the cool air enveloped them.

"You ready?" Zelda smiled gently.

Link smiled back. "Not quite."

Zelda turned to look at him only for Link to caress the back of her head and pull her in for a kiss. Zelda can feel the power of the Light Spirits flowing from her body into his in a large amount. But she didn't feel light headed or exhausted. Instead, her face flushed as she covered her lips from the sudden action. The black veins covering his face now completely gone only leaving small traces it was once there. Link laughed at her thinking of how cute she looked.

"For someone who spent the past few months throwing herself at me and even being so bold as to strip naked in front of me, you sure get embarrass easily."

Zelda felt as if she was a pot of water with steam coming out of her ears. "T-t-that was because it was dark and-and-and…I HAD TO!" Zelda stuttered the words out as quickly as she could.

Link laughed heartily at Zelda's embarrassed state and winked. "Sorry. I needed a little bit. I thought it would be fine because you're always the one to do it first."

Zelda's face got to a bright red that Link has never seen before that it made him laugh even more. "I-I wouldn't have to do that if you just accepted it in the first place!"

Link clutched his stomach as tears formed in his eyes. He wiped it away and cleared his throat. "Alright. It's my fault." He stared at her with his captivating cerulean eyes. His eyes seemed so gentle that Zelda felt frozen by its beautiful gaze. "I'm ready. Let's go."

As they rode out towards Lake Hylia, Zelda felt a strange beating in her heart. As she watched his back, she had a nostalgic feeling and a smiled played across her face.

"So Link. I've been wondering this."

Link slowed down a bit for Zelda to catch up. "What?"

"Are you and Ilia dating?"

Link's face flushed. "W-what?"

"I mean, the air around you two felt like it. Kind of like a couple's quarrel." Zelda smiled at Link's bashfulness. "Are you…or were you two a couple?"

"It's nothing like that."

"Oh? So you like her? I mean, you're a young man. There's nothing wrong with that."

Link started riding faster as Zelda tried to catch up with many questions curious about his life.
